I was on a transatlantic cruise a few years ago (cheapest cruise you can get on a $/day basis), and a staff member was telling me that they had a section of the ship's freezers converted into a temporary morgue along with the regular ship's morgue. It was a 14 day Spain to Texas cruise with over three thousand three hundred passengers. One of the ship's flyers talked about how the average age for passengers was 74 years old and that there were only 47 people under the age of 50 not counting the crew on board.
Also the working conditions on a cruiseship are insane. I remember a few years ago when I was on a ship and I noticed one staff (a women probably only 20 years old) that first worked in the kids section, then I saw her working at a buffet, and later also saw her cleaning some hallway. So I decided to ask. I don't remember where she was from exactly but it was some poor asian country. And she told how she had to work 18 hours a day for minimum pay, often weeks on end. She mostly only could go to her home country twice a year. And it made me realize probably most of the people working on such a budget cruise are in the same situation.
That's outrageous and even illegal by the maritime laws, the maximum amount of hours a crew member can work is 14, and with a maximum of 6 of those hours without break. What was the cruise line?

I'll give you a few tips how to not get food poisoning out of buffet on a cruise ship. Inspect your food before you eat it as in look at it 2nd make sure that the food you get is the freshes from the kitchen you don't want to eat the food it's been out there for 3 hours you want the food that just just got put out the freshly cooked food is usually more healthier for you to eat. Stay away from thing like sushi. You want to eat food that was freshly cooked. Also bring like some probiotics with you to help your good bacteria and your stomach this can also reduce your chances of developing food poisoning. If also bring a bottle of pepto bismol just in case
basically, overestimate the amount of cash/spending money you need once on board a cruise. Then, times that by at least 3, and take double that amount.
Wow! I did not know cruise ships dump waste into the ocean, I never thought of where the sewage went tbh but that is so gross and can’t be good for the ocean ecosystems. Wow!
Cruise ships process sewage before it goes in ocean. They separate recycles from trash. Both are off loaded in home ports. Newer ships are using cleaner fuel. Air filtration on cruise ships was upgraded during pause.
When your bored and want to learn something new. You should do a video on how if you drown someone in a lake of water in the winter it will sink, but when the water warms up it floats. Except in Lake superior where they always stay sunk. Would be pretty cool to see a video on that
Wow. My Uncle worked on a cruse ship as security. He’s retired navy and told us about a time when an odd ship came too close too a ship at 2a. They got guns ready and a fire alarm went off on the ship.
Shoot, don't need to worry about pirates from different ship, they're already on board. If someone breaks into your room and steals all your valuables, nothing you can do about it
Lynn. They have a safe in every room. You make your own pin # to lock it. They also have a huge one in customer service for things to big for state room.
I was on an alaskan/WA/Seattle crusie a few years ago. The staff never did anything for free. Every interaction saw a hand smaking out with the palm up and the soulful look in the eyes facing you. "But a "gratuity is 15% madam". Squirming because no one wants to be seen as cheap, but the same servers over and over, not doing anything more than picking up your empty glass and setting down another. (Which, BTW, you also paid for, separately). If you're not driving, why not drink, as I reasoned it all out. Nothing was ever "free" as advertised. It's all suspect. Plus, 3 thousand other people on board made this one of the worst experiences of my life. Alaska, the water time, the wildlife, and the scenery were awesome. Not so awesome was the tacked-on charges needing to be cleared before you could disembark at week's end.

When I went on a cruise in 2020 it was March they actually were already ready they checked everyone’s temperature and just from that they declined 200-400 people getting on and had us sanitize and wash our hand before going into the buffet
I’ve been on several cruises, including post-covid. A lot of this wasn’t accurate, particularly when it comes to the part about dumping sewage overboard.
Legally they can but almost all the lines choose not to, Instead its filtered to no end and sent off to cool the engines or discharged into sea, good to know someone else knows not all ships dump waste.
The only time I went on a cruise ship I got food poisoning- It was on my birthday week, I now never want to go back on one but I live near where their docks are sooooo
I remember when we were coming home from a school trip. And someone had a heart attack on the overnight ferry. They had to stop the boat while a medical helicopter landed to pick him up. We all had to wait in the main dance/theatre area while they stretchered him out

And when a passenger is left behind there is someone called a port agent in every port that will assist you catching up to the ship or arrange to get you home... It's just a lot of hogwash
@Isolated like any place Food varies depending on the chefs making it. On my vessel it’s great for both passengers and staff. Food is one of the main reason people go on cruises in the first place.
I've been on a cruise and right after we went to las Vegas, but I was in 2nd grade and I'm in 7th grade and what I say about Las Vegas is if your a kid you will have nothing to do in Las Vegas, and if your a smart person you will have nothing to do in Las Vegas.

After that I said nope I’m good felt bad for 2 days and i wasn’t a lightweight at the time by any means.
So the sewage thing isn't true. They don't just straight up dump waste water once they get out to sea. It actually goes through the ships sewage treatment facilities. Which in some cases will filter and sterilize it out and make it safer to drink than tap water in a few places. Then they keep it in a separate tank until they make it to a spot where they can legally dump it.
They should ban unlimited drinks and replace them with unlimited thc. Alchohol is counterintuitive for seasickness. No1 ever does anything when they consume too much thc, and usually cut themselves off before anyone else does. The only thing is.. *you're gonna need a bigger buffet*
Cruises I went on long before covid always had hand sanitizer at the entrance of all major rooms and before you got on and off the ship. Sadly that’s not enough to stay safe
The buffets on my ship was ok, not 5* tho. The US Navy did alright tho, sometimes we would leave 1 port and just cruise without knowing our next stop. Adventure and excitement!!!
this video is not so accurate, no poopz are not thrown into the seas, they have a place for it at the very bottom and no it does not smell, the food? its really not that bad😂 my mom whos a crew for a very long time says that she NEVER got any stomach ache because of the food, the pirates? there's a BIG BIG chance that you'll never got to encounter pirates in ships even if u did there's a big chance to that the ship will manage to scare away those pirates
My grandmother loves cruises, but I was never able to see the appeal. I’m not much for traveling, but if were I’d want to go somewhere to learn about how people from another place live. I’d want to learn about their culture & history. Cruises I don’t think would be my thing. But my family seems to think I’m crazy for it. & the food never sounded appealing to me, though it’s not the poor workers faults. Of course there’s other reasons like the environmental impact that deters me as well.”
If you ever try a cruise, remember to take a room on the top half of the ship; if one's unavailable, cancel the trip: if only a couple things go wrong, a cascade of inconveniences begin to snow-ball, and lower decks bear the harshest reality. Windows get smaller and airflow and quality is poorer; if power goes out, lower decks go dark, and the sewage overflows lacking constant negative pressure: in the worst cases, lower deck occupants have to sleep on lounge chairs in common areas.
We got a houseboat, one summer, to spend a week on Indian rock lake in Missouri and my dad's, girlfriends, daughter, clogged up the toilet so bad, we had to get a new boat, lol! So embarrassing
Never been on a cruise but I didn't know that if you don't make it back to the ship on time during one of those stops they just leave you??? That gives me a whole new fear, being left behind in a foreign country by a cruise I paid hundreds for.
Lixorice You are told when you need to be back aboard. It is your responsibility to make it back aboard on time. It's just like an airplane. If you are late to the plane, they will take off without you. If you are on a shore excursion booked through the ship, the ship will wait for you as long as it can. Remember that tides, weather, and dockside reservations affect how long ship can stay in port. However, at each port there is a port agent who will assist you in making travel arrangements. (They do give you the number, usually in daily program.)They may lend you money but you must pay for alternative travel.

There are quite a few inaccuracies on this video. Not all cruise ships have a 'brig' for badly behaving guests. In fact, most of them don't have them. They will simply arrange a security staff member to stand outside the stateroom and not allow the trouble maker to leave and then hand them over to authorities. Of course people are going to pass away in a cruise ship - what relevance does that have to the video? That's like saying hotels have people die in them. Everyone dies at some point. The cruise industry is the only industry that volunteers to tell the CDC or other public health authorities about any sort of gastro outbreak. They don't have to do it, they do it through choice. No one thinks about the thousands of people that get gastro in land hotels and hospitals and schools etc though? All of those go unreported - cruise lines are used to dealing with this sort of thing hence they are so good at stopping the spread. As for the section about the food, cruise lines have to face some of if not the strongest USPH health protocols in any industry, everything is time stamped and temp controlled. Most food items are frozen that don't keep well and fresh produce is brought onboard in various ports during a long voyage. Not prepped days in advance and left out as the video suggests. Huge plans go into the meal prep and quality control is some of the best in the world. I support making factual videos and this video is well made but proper and correct research should be made not just opinions and hearsay.
I am totally with you on all that. I have been cruising for 20 years and it is by far some of top quality food I ever had. Never once had gastroenteritis! I almost wish the chefs on the cruiseships worked on land. I'll tell where I did get food poisoning from and that at Waffle House!!

Also bring like some probiotics with you to help your good bacteria and your stomach this can also reduce your chances of developing food poisoning. If also bring a bottle of pepto bismol just in case
i was on a cruise ship while covid 19 hit and they almost didnt let anyone off board
I have been on a cruise ship and I loved the buffet it was pretty much were I lived
basically, overestimate the amount of cash/spending money you need once on board a cruise. Then, times that by at least 3, and take double that amount.
Wow! I did not know cruise ships dump waste into the ocean, I never thought of where the sewage went tbh but that is so gross and can’t be good for the ocean ecosystems. Wow!
Just think of all the whale sheet and fish sheet that is in there.
@@TheVirginGary what about baking sheet or paper sheet

Really disgusting
Cruise ships process sewage before it goes in ocean.
They separate recycles from trash. Both are off loaded in home ports.
Newer ships are using cleaner fuel.
Air filtration on cruise ships was upgraded during pause.

When your bored and want to learn something new. You should do a video on how if you drown someone in a lake of water in the winter it will sink, but when the water warms up it floats. Except in Lake superior where they always stay sunk. Would be pretty cool to see a video on that
Psychopath
That’s because Lake Superior is deep enough that the water stays cold at the bottom. Not warming the bodies up
That's oddly specific, man ...

Wow. My Uncle worked on a cruse ship as security. He’s retired navy and told us about a time when an odd ship came too close too a ship at 2a. They got guns ready and a fire alarm went off on the ship.
How does this RUclips channel literally post on every topic I’m interested in when I just get interested in it
my grandmother was stuck on one of those cruise ships that had covid for two weeks which isn't actually as bad as other ones.
Shoot, don't need to worry about pirates from different ship, they're already on board. If someone breaks into your room and steals all your valuables, nothing you can do about it
Lynn.
They have a safe in every room. You make your own pin # to lock it. They also have a huge one in customer service for things to big for state room.
My mother would tell me there is at least one crazy person on every cruise ship. I think she was lying because I couldn't find them.

My dad got horrible food poisoning from bad shrimp on a Disney Cruise 🛳 in 1999, he was sick for most of our trip. In fact, a lot of people got sick on that cruise 🤢🤮
Forget the buffets.. go to the fancy dinners and literally order one of every entre and appetizer. It was the best part of the cruise honestly.
Too broke for that. I just ordered 1 of every drink instead 😃
I've been on several Carnival cruises and one thing that he didn't mention is that, some cruise boats don't have a 13th floor. They go straight from 12 to 14. I noticed it and took a picture of it last time I was on a cruise.
Is it because 13 is unlucky?

When I went on a cruise in 2020 it was March they actually were already ready they checked everyone’s temperature and just from that they declined 200-400 people getting on and had us sanitize and wash our hand before going into the buffet
I’ve been on several cruises, including post-covid. A lot of this wasn’t accurate, particularly when it comes to the part about dumping sewage overboard.
Legally they can but almost all the lines choose not to, Instead its filtered to no end and sent off to cool the engines or discharged into sea, good to know someone else knows not all ships dump waste.
The only time I went on a cruise ship I got food poisoning-
It was on my birthday week, I now never want to go back on one but I live near where their docks are sooooo
I remember when we were coming home from a school trip. And someone had a heart attack on the overnight ferry. They had to stop the boat while a medical helicopter landed to pick him up. We all had to wait in the main dance/theatre area while they stretchered him out

As someone who spent years working on cruise ships, most of this is accurate, but it's still click bait because the numbers are so misleading. And when a passenger is left behind there is someone called a port agent in every port that will assist you catching up to the ship or arrange to get you home... It's just a lot of hogwash

Las Vegas, for most people, means loosing their shirts in casinos and getting STDs from prostitutes...
I did a cruise to Mexico twice the second time we had a few margaritas and shots next thing I know is I wake up in my cabin don’t remember even going back on the ship. Think I may have been slipped something thankfully I had a group of friends with me and they filled in what I don’t remember.

Why they are fun
I went on a cruise last week. Everything mentioned here is true about covid rules. Pretty cool honestly.
They should ban unlimited drinks and replace them with unlimited thc.
Alchohol is counterintuitive for seasickness. No1 ever does anything when they consume too much thc, and usually cut themselves off before anyone else does. The only thing is.. *you're gonna need a bigger buffet*
I have NEVER been on a cruise as I always felt they were cesspools of gross and this video has helped cement my opinion lol
Imagine how the sea creatures feel .
As if I needed more reasons to never set foot on those floating petri dishes.

"Some people say" because it's fkn true. They are sewage nightmares.

You are told when you need to be back aboard.
