Foghorn Stringband Live - The Concert Film Set 2 - the powerful conclusion to this amazing concert. This film is MAGIC! Filmed live at Deep End Sessions, September 17, 2017. This was a very high energy concert in front of a packed audience in the living room of a California farmhouse. Caleb Klauder, mandolin & vocals; Reeb Willms, guitar & vocals; Nadine Landry, bass & vocals; Stephen "Sammy" Lind, fiddle & vocals; . One of the finest American Old-time stringbands performing today. All acoustic house concerts and house dances like this are one of the ways old-time stringband music was originally experienced. As a black kid growing up in Cleveland Ohio I wasn't exposed to this wonderful music at all until I recall watching an episode of The Andy Griffith Show in the early 60s. There were a couple of episodes that featured a family of mountain folk called the Darlings and they would get together with Andy and play some of the best bluegrass music my young ears ever heard. The actors were actually The Dillards bluegrass band. But ever since those early days I was hooked on bluegrass music. It's simply some of the purest and original sounding music out there and it's one of the reasons I absolutely love the sound of Foghorn Stringband. Caleb and Sammy are absolutely wonderful and Nadine and Reeb are two of the prettiest and most talented singer/musicians out there. Nadine's gorgeous smile is infectious. She lights up a room when she's singing and playing and it looks like she's enjoying every second of it. I love it♥ And Reeb with her absolute sweetness is adorable. I love how everyone looks at one another as they go through the various selections. It really shows how close knit this group is and how in tune with each other they are. They have easily become my favorite bluegrass band. I agree with what Marlin Griffith said, these folks need to come to Ohio 'cause we love 'em too♥ Thank you so so much for this awesome post!
Well written! I'm an Eisenhower BABY from 1955 Detroit and this white child couldn't agree more! These folks make life good! Added bonus: my dad was a 3 war navy veteran and we did a stint in W.Cleveland (Avon) great memories my brother man! Love!

As a kid my parents took us to the Lake of the Ozarks. We would watched a comedy show in town and it featured the Baldknobbers Band. I've been hooked ever since.
They'll be in Bowling Green in September, 2021!

Yes I agree with you Marlin, Sammy is a superb musician, as is Caleb too....playing more than one instrument. They all play so well...the sound is awesome... "Bluegrass".
They are married. Besides both being in Foghorn they also have their own band, just the two of them. But they perform with many others. Alone and together.
Hopefully the Foghorn Stringband group could make another appearance at this year’s Indiana fiddlers gathering or down the road, Lord Willing here in battleground Indiana! They are always very blessed and welcome to our area, may God’s blessings keep them safe always

Wow, I am speechless. Well, that never stopped me from talking. These two sets of this awesome band are beyond anything. I play myself and I try hard but these individual souls get almighty when they strum, plug, bow, and sing. Nadine made me cry in the two songs happening between 10 to 15 minutes. Thank you for something much deeper then music.

Maybe I am missing something, but it seems that they are playing in a restaurant. Such a tremendously talented group like this should be playing at Carnegie Hall. They are just superb!
I agree that Foghorn could play at Carnegie Hall, but for this they played in our Craftsman house living room called The Lodge, before an apreciatvie audience of over 100 people
Something gets lost in this music when it's played in a big hall. This stuff is meant to be intimate and up close. This is the stuff people used to play in their living rooms before recorded music. It's why they use one mic stand, to keep as little as possible between them and the audience.
Unbelievable fiddling one of the best I've heard, a great 90 minutes of music

they have a banjo player - Sammy, he just plays fiddle mostly in this context

She's in the back because they use one mic stand...there's no amplifiers, just two mics on one stand in the center. That's why you see them step in and out when taking solos. They stand where they are in order to balance the sound between the instruments and voices. I'd love to see her out front more, but that's the role of the bass player in string bands, back there thumping away and driving the beat.

I think they need to come to the east coast of the North Island in New Zealand too.
They play Ohio all the time. They have friends in Ohio and generally play two or three shows.
