I was 20 years old when this came out and I was watching the Roy Orbison tribute concert on TV when she performed this and I’ve always loved this song, but this is the classic case of the cover being better than the original. And I literally cried the entire performance because it was so moving!
She is the best voice in music.. the country community treated her like crap when she decided to be her authentic self. Very sad… but we welcomed her on the pop/rock side. She is amazing
Full body chills every time I hear kd sing this song. I mean, come on... her voice comes from a place not of this world. We're just fortunate to witness it.
She and Roy sang this as a duet This was a tribute to Roy after his death. Love how she looked up and thanked Roy. After Leonard Cohen heard her sing Hallelujah he said that it was her song now. She sang it at the Olympics
I heard Roy Orbison's wife suggested KD Lang for the duet of Crying months b4 he passed away.. KD's Orbison tribute was emotional as she tried not to cry while singing.
K.D Lang has one of the best voices in music. Her live version of Crying is absolutely beautiful. Most people don't know that Lang sang a duet with Orbison in the 80s for a movie soundtrack called Hiding out.
She was also one of the backing singers for his live performance "Black and White" which had a whole raft of other guest musicians playing his set list.
He was one of my favorite and still is.. Roy, elvis and freddie, too.. What powerful voices. Just beautiful. Not many female voices but KD's ranks up there too.
Never heard anyone with that combination of power and control. One-of-a-kind voice. Magnificent. Easy to see why Roy Orbison chose her to duet with him on his song.
My intro to KD was her "Absolute Torch and Twang" album, which is still fantastic. She had one of the best country music voices ever. Roy was a huge influence for her.
The duet with Roy of this is great but this really shows her immense talent ... Her Olympic performance of Hallelujah is life changing !!!!!!!! leonard Cohen said after hearing KD sing it that it was her's now........ Probably the best female vocalist of the last 35 years.
Kd is an amazing vocalist, songwriters beat down her door to get her to sing their songs. Here's another vote for her rendetion of hallelujah from the Winter Olympics
Hard to find a good live "So In Love" performance with video. The picture quality on this one is iffy, but the sound holds up: ruclips.net/video/u2i7cG2LiY0/видео.html
Roy once said that she had the most beautiful voice he'd ever heard. Now check out her version of "Hallelujah" and you will be stunned at the beauty of ir.
Glad you liked it. k d Lang's solo version is great live. Got to see her perform it in concert and her voice felt like she was honoring Roy. She started off in Alt Country then moved into Country then continued into Standards and Pop. Juno's, Grammys her mantle has them along with Lifetime Achievements. She can sing anything she wants to. She has closed the Calgary Winter Olympics and opened the Vancouver Summer Olympics, both are MUST sees. She closed the Olympics and cleared the athletes section. When she performed she was early in her career, still doing her Alternative Country phase.
Also her version of So In Love from the Red Hot and Blue tribute to Cole Porter is also breathtaking. Her album with Tony Bennett is also worthy of praise.
KD Lang is pure emotion. You ca't fake that. Love to watch first time broadcasters watching her performance, their facial expresions sayys it all. Buddy, you are listening to perfection. {PERIOD.
Great song and fantastic singer. If you haven't listened to it yet, check out "K.D. Lang sings Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah" That's an absolute favorite of mine. She just nails it.
I showed this video to my daughter about a year ago. She was 17 at the time, and just starting to appreciate the music that I loved when I was her age. At the end of the very first verse, she looked at me and said, "Wow!" I just laughed and said, "Oh, it hasn't even STARTED yet!" k.d. lang has a voice of amazing range and dexterity. He quiet notes can be mere whispers, but her belt will blow the windows out. SO brilliant.
I had the pleasure of seeing K.D. in concert with Tony Bennett and the way she wrapped her voice around his showed her respect and appreciation that she was in the presence of one of the greats ( even though his voice was not as good as in his heyday) . A great concert I will never forget.
I am with a few others here in reference to "constant craving". I would also like to suggest Simply Red : holding back the years and Sinead O'Connor : Nothing compares 2 U (shin ade)
That was her good buy to Roy, they were very close and respected each other very much.
He also put that song in her lap because he knew she could do it justice.
Standing O! That gal has a voice like a Stradivarius!
Nobody slam dunks a song like KD Lang. Nobody. She has huge lung capacity; she can be so soft and smooth and so shake-you-down powerful.
That album with all the Canadian covers is brilliant!
Very well put, Miss!!
Roy himself said she “ has the best pipes in the business “
You should hear her live rendition of "Hallelujah".
The one at the Vancouver Olympics opening was fantastic!
My favorite is her performance at the Juno awards. ☮️❤️😎
Absolutely 💯
@In A Corner I thought she Always went barefoot!
Agreed. Best version. Even Leonard Cohen admitted so.
K.D. Lang is a Canadian National Treasure
Every performance from K D is a masterclass….angels aspire to sing like that 💕💕
She received a 4 minute standing ovation for this performance.
She deserved it. And more. ❤
and she deserved every second of it
I was 20 years old when this came out and I was watching the Roy Orbison tribute concert on TV when she performed this and I’ve always loved this song, but this is the classic case of the cover being better than the original. And I literally cried the entire performance because it was so moving!
I love kd lang. She not only has a beautiful voice, she has a beautiful heart...the most humble of people.
She is the best voice in music.. the country community treated her like crap when she decided to be her authentic self. Very sad… but we welcomed her on the pop/rock side. She is amazing
The country side should be ashamed
She does Canada proud, her voice is spectacular. She has such a beautiful tone and her control is phenomenal. Love her.
I decided she is the # 1 female singer!!
And a four minute standing ovation!
She sang it at the Olympics
yup. the 2010 vancouver olympics performance of hallelujah is absolutely chilling.
have you seen the one where she sings A Case of You? I melted, still do
@Alan Smith yes and I agree 👍
Got the Crying duet on 7" vinyl. I used to be able to sing both parts back in the day.
I heard Roy Orbison's wife suggested KD Lang for the duet of Crying months b4 he passed away.. KD's Orbison tribute was emotional as she tried not to cry while singing.

Absolutely one of the Greatest ❤ and she is just gorgeous
I saw her in concert, and she sounds even better live! absolutely an incredible voice and human.
I could listen listen my old KD lang cds ALL DAY LONG!!!!!
Me too. I never tir e of hearing her.
If you liked that, see her performance at the olympics. It’s a master class in music perfection
She's done that to all of us my friend!! Roy would of been proud
One of the greats!
WAKE UP.... SHE'S THE BEST. X
K.D. has a beautiful, very powerful voice.
I've seen her twice in concert just because she has a superior voice. I'm a classic rock fan but perfection is perfection.
Her concerts are wonderful
K.D Lang is the only other person that even comes close to doing this song justice and paying homage to Roy Orbinson
Better than Roy Orbinson. Did he write 'Crying'
I feel like weeping, when I hear the words,’I’ve never heard of’,when it refers to the likes of kd lang, and others who deserve to be known by everyone.
Yay…finally one of my favorite reactors listens to K.D. Lang! But you have to listen to Constant Craving AND Miss Chatilaine. Oh and Hallelujah.
Many singers have power
Few can do it with full control
K.D is certainly in my favorites
Love her
This is by far her best performance of this song.
What I love about when I seen KD Lang in person was her voice going right through you! No recording will do that
Her performances are always flawless and incredible. She is pure magic.
KD (Katherine Dawn) Lang. AMAZING!
She’s simply magnificent.
kd Lang is from Alberta Canada and we love her! Wonderfully talented.
I love the Beatle bow, thanking the audience for their applause. What a powerful performance.
Now you know who k.d.lang is!!!!!!!
I have lots of her music. I LOVE her voice!!!This leaves me breathless EVERY TIME I hear it.
Listen to her sing Hallelujah at the 2010 Olympics.
I’m crying
She sings like she has a paint brush in her hand, no? 🥰
About. The best female vocalist ever!
Her voice is perfection, you just can't mess with that.
She hit that ball out of the park and into outer space!!!!!!! Best singer I've EVER heard!! Wow!!
You need to react to her cover of Hallelujah… Leonard Cohen (also a Canadian) told her that it was her song now.. no longer his! She’s AMAZING!
Just watched your reaction to KDLange Crying.... WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN.?
Never heard anyone with that combination of power and control. One-of-a-kind voice. Magnificent. Easy to see why Roy Orbison chose her to duet with him on his song.
My intro to KD was her "Absolute Torch and Twang" album, which is still fantastic. She had one of the best country music voices ever. Roy was a huge influence for her.
The reincarnation of Patsy Cline many said at the time.
A fine Canadian. 🇨🇦🥰🎤❤
She is an incredible artist…this presentation is unbelievable.
Her singing Hallelujah at the Olympics is as good as it gets. Powerful voice
I don’t have words to describe how much I love her voice❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I agree with the suggestions of Hallelujah and Constant Craving.
The duet with Roy of this is great but this really shows her immense talent ... Her Olympic performance of Hallelujah is life changing !!!!!!!! leonard Cohen said after hearing KD sing it that it was her's now........ Probably the best female vocalist of the last 35 years.
I was just going to write that. Her belting is jaw dropping, but her tender ballads and country songs are just as impressive in their own way
You definitely need to see her Olympic rendition of Hallelujah! Absolutely 100%
Constant Craving is AWESOME!!! Please react to that one too.
She is the best! Love her. Thank you K.D.
Ms. Lang has been a fave since her early torch and twang days and this rendition of Crying always covers me in goose bumps.
Please do her live version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. I would highly recommend the version where Leonard Cohen is in the audience… :)
Canadian Hall of Fame - I think her best version.
Vancouver Olympics is her best version 😉
One of the best voices of our time, seeing her live was unforgettable
Wow!!! K. D. Lang is one of my favorite Female arist of all-time!!! Also....."Trails of Broken Hearts." by her....the studio version!!!! Fire!!!!
Just chills
Kd is an amazing vocalist, songwriters beat down her door to get her to sing their songs. Here's another vote for her rendetion of hallelujah from the Winter Olympics
You must watch her sing Hallelujah at the olympics, even if you don't react to it, it's a must see.
Such a great singer and personality
Now you need to hear kd lang sing Hallelujah
AMAZING! NOW THAT'S HOW A SONG SHOULD BE SUNG!!!
Another kd favourite of mine is “The Valley.” Well worth a listen.
Please react to Constant Craving. She is amazing!
The Flawless Control K.D. Lang, Has Over Her Voice is Truly Amazing.
Wow!!! Indeed 👏👏
This song and hallelujah bring tears to my eyes. Her voice is angelic
One of the most magnificent voices of the 20th and 21st centuries.
She has a rare and beautiful voice.
One of the greats and a gorgeous lady ❤
I met her in '88. I was coming out of a building downtown Nashville, she was going in. She held the door for me. She had the most striking smile.
kd always KILLS it live. You need to hear her version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. It will rip your heart out.
The voice and vocal control is unreal!!!
"Constant Craving" next please and thanks. Also, her cover of "So In Love" from the Red Hot + Blue charity album is one of my kd favs. Cheers.
Hard to find a good live "So In Love" performance with video. The picture quality on this one is iffy, but the sound holds up:

Yes her Olympic opening performance of Hallelujah is amazing! Love her!
Roy once said that she had the most beautiful voice he'd ever heard. Now check out her version of "Hallelujah" and you will be stunned at the beauty of ir.

Yes kd is fantastic fan for years all way back to her cowboy punk beginnings in Western Canada met her many times in Vancouver way before her fame .
People have been sleeping on KD. I’ve been loving her and her music for years!
I showed this video to my daughter about a year ago. She was 17 at the time, and just starting to appreciate the music that I loved when I was her age. Absolutely have loved her for years proud that she is a fellow canadian
I cry every time I hear her sing this song. So powerful and touchingly tender. Amazing talent.
The incomparable Miss K.D.Lang!
I remember being at one of her shows in the 90’s and just weeping when she sang this. One of the saddest love songs ever.
I had the pleasure of seeing K.D. in concert with Tony Bennett and the way she wrapped her voice around his showed her respect and appreciation that she was in the presence of one of the greats ( even though his voice was not as good as in his heyday) . A great concert I will never forget.
Our Canadian girl!
I saw her perform at a theatre I worked at in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. The walls actually shook when she hit some notes. She was amazing.
love this....Alberta's own K.D. Lang
I am with a few others here in reference to "constant craving". I would also like to suggest Simply Red : holding back the years and Sinead O'Connor : Nothing compares 2 U (shin ade)
She’s an amazing singer her voice can be honey smooth and powerful but always emotional 😊
