  • In 2007, Adrian Peterson did the impossible-he shattered the NFL’s single-game rushing record with an unbelievable 296-yard performance against the San Diego Chargers. This record-breaking game wasn't just a highlight of Peterson’s rookie season; it became an untouchable moment in NFL history.
    In this video, we dive into the story behind Peterson’s historic achievement, exploring how he dethroned Jamal Lewis’s previous record set in 2003 and why this rushing record may never be broken again. From Peterson’s early days with the Minnesota Vikings to the legendary game that left fans and analysts in awe, we cover it all.

    AD is top 5 all time and his record will stand for at least 20 yrs if not forever. The game has moved so far away from running backs nowadays. It will be hard to break that record now.

    • @MarkMay-cr6bv
      @MarkMay-cr6bv 5 месяцев назад

      AD is nowhere near top 5. Top-10 running backs aren't just physical specimans who pule up a lot of yards, they're guys that can be counted on when the big games are on the line. Adrian Peterson was a fumbling machine, especially in the playoffs. He cost the Vikings a Super Bowl berth in the loss to the Saints, and a playoff loss to the Seahawks at home. How many of his huge rushing games were two very long runs where he burst through a big hole and outran everybody? That looks great on the stat sheet, but it wasn't the kind of consistent running that helped the Vikings wear down teams and consistenlty win games.

    I have this feeling that eventually a running back will be in the NFL for like 10+ seasons, get over 1800 yards a season and never last more than 3 years on any team, bouncing from team to team and no one will notice how great he is until his final season when he retires.

    Ricky Williams was on his way to having a chance for this record in back to back weeks in 2002. He had 224 yards vs Buffalo through 3, and the very next week he had 195 yards after his 63 yard touchdown run with 9 minutes left in the 3RD. One game he only got 1 more carry, and the other they were up so much he only got a few more and they drives didn’t last long so it didn’t happen.
    Anyone else know of other games like that? Where the record looked really in danger?

    I'll disagree. Even with the league going more pass happy, teams will always find a reason to run the ball. Also, the tandem backfired has always been a thing. Not every team has a talent like Adrian Peterson or derrick Henry. Speaking of Henry, he did come 46 yards shy of the second just a few years ago. I'd say with teams focusing more on passing, a team that invests in a brushing back might have a chance at the record. Since defenses will be getting smaller to compete with the speed of wide receivers. But none the less, you'll always have teams without qbs but having insane runnkngbacks that they will feed the ball. It will be broken one day
