You know what’s interesting,is I love NCAA Football 2007. Still play it,and I’ve spent literally weeks of my life editing the rosters. These were the QBs who came out that year 😂
I went to school with JaMarcus Russell. I’m not gonna lie. No one saw him being this kind of a bust at the time. Later on it made sense he was on drugs didn’t care, but at the time he threw the football like you could throw a baseball the football even looks small in his hands. It was wild. He could put the ball wherever he wanted. He could do a similar thing in the NFL but he just didn’t have the drive didn’t have the want And rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. But his arm talent was always there and I haven’t seen an arm like his in a while.
Russell was so special athletically. I believe that Al Davis would’ve hired someone to pretty much take care of Russell if he’d realized what was happening with him. But Lane Kiffin was determined to do what he wanted which mean that Russell failing was better for Kiffin’s plans for the team. It wasn’t a devious nor evil plan, just one on which Kiffin wanted to use his system. Afterwards Russell never got a real second chance. Very sad situation that shows that when a player can’t play & is in a dark place, there’s no one to help. As valuable as a good QB is to a team many of us don’t realize how dedicated even backup QBs have to be. At a minimum Russell could’ve been great in a system like Jalen Hurts runs. I truly feel for Russell.
@@djquinn11 Yes. I don’t know how much was depression. Just amazing that he could get that bad without team intervention. Wonder where he would’ve been selected if not for the Raiders? Would he still be first round.
JaMarcus was deeply affected by his uncle's death the summer before he was drafted. It was so bad, JaMarcus became depressed lost his focus and he ate non--stop. Then he stopped caring altogether.
Drew Stanton had his moments with the Cardinals. That was the only time he was given a fair chance to shine behind a decent coaching staff. The biggest problem with him was that he was drafted by the Lions as he could had been better had he had been drafted by a winning organization. He also kept batting injuries dating back to his college years. Lastly, he was traded from the Jets to the Colts only because he demanded it in retaliation of the Jets acquiring Tim Tebow. He had some potential to start with but luck just wasn’t on his side
I think the reason we all love these lookback vids is because dynasty fantasy football had become a big thing and we all remember trying to “evaluate” these guys for our teams
Man me too , I wanted Dallas to draft Brady Quinn so bad haha and this guy making the video says 2007 is a little before his time so I’m like when the heck was he born haha
No Class of QB can be as bad as the 1976 class of QBs. Only 1 QB drafted threw for more than 1,185 Yards in their career, every QB drafted threw more INTs than TDs. While this was a different era, its hard to get worse than that as a class.
You’re right, ‘76 was probably THE worst, given those stats. I would say 2013 is the next worst. 1. EJ Emmanuel 2. Mike Glennon 3. Matt Barkley 4. Geno Smith 5. Ryan Nassib 6. Tyler Wilson 7. Landry Jones I will say, Geno Smith did have a good season his first year (‘22) with Seattle in the Russ trade, but last season (his second season in Seattle) Geno was back to his same old sub-standard self again. None of the other guys on this list did much of anything in the NFL. Maybe EJ Emmanuel was at best mediocre with the Bills, but that is being super generous.
jordan palmer is THE qb whisperer, id love to see the bengals bring him back as qb coach. but now, his price may be rather high with his success but good for him
As a Bengals fan in the UK the selection of Jeff Rowe was amusing to me as there was a well known comedian from Cornwall called Jethro whose real name was Jeff Rowe.
I feel like Brady Quinn just hit his ceiling in college. He was a great college QB, but just didn’t have the physical skills to be a full time starter in the pros. He was my favorite player when he was in college
Russell I said right the start Culpepper after he lost Randy Moss he was lazy had the talent to be star but he got paid good enough but he could've been very hood
I started to watch Football in 2005, but really got into it in 2007. From what I have been told about Brady Quinn, he bulked up a little to much and lost some agility.
Makes you wonder if different teams had drafted some of these guys, what would their careers have looked like. Would Brady Quinn been more successful if he didn’t go to the Browns? Would Russell have been a bust if he went to a team with better management and team leadership from the players?
To be fair once Jamarcus Russell 's uncle passed away he gave up on football. He had a ton of talent but once you lose a close family member, football doesn't really matter anymore. A lot of people just call him a bust without understanding the circumstances he went through.
Exavtly, having read his lettter and heard him on Pivot, it gave me a whole different perspective. I'm willing to give him a pass once his uncle died and he was hit so hard emotionally. I do think though that in a different team and environment he'd maybe have been able to deal with it better with a coach and staff who wanted to help him out, possibly though.
I'm not trying to be heartless when I say this - but there are PLENTY of top picks that are going through personal issues. He became a fat and lazy bum who failed miserably at his job.
I like the video. Is this a one person channel? Keep at it but if I may make one suggestion; perhaps work out the script a little bit 👍 look forward to more
What suprises me is how little any of the teams cared about production back then. Almost all of these QBs up until Brady Quinn and Jamarcus Russel would never have been taken today. Thigpen udfa, Palmer 7th Round, Troy Smith maybe drafted higher because of it, Jeff Rowe udfa, Isaiah Stanback was not good enough to get drafted at QB or WR, Trent udfa, Stanton udfa, John Beck 2nd or 3rd round, Kevin Kolb 3rd-4th round, Brady Quinn 1-2nd Round, Jamarcus Russel 4-5th round.
Imma have to agree with ya. Idk why people are so high on his. What was like, like 85% of his TD passes came from the lesser opponents, he never was the "IT" factor that was the reason they won they game.
@@Jaycee03YCthe caleb dick riding is outta control. What exactly has he done that makes him census #1 overall? Absolutely nothing. He didnt even win the Pac-12.

2013, it was on par with 07 until Geno Turned his career around

Man this video really takes me back!
I still recall the Dolphins draft party that year watching the nfl draft on espn and they were booing hard when they took Ted Ginn over Brady Quinn
Heh, I remember some of that.
Ginn never became an NFL star, but at least he’s still playing. Brady Quinn was kind of a bust.
@@rickbrenner3 Yeah, Quinn was a horrible bust. Dude couldn't process info at a NFL level. Ginn was a kick returner.
I wanted my Raiders to draft Calvin Johnson in 2007
Raiders made the right choice as far as need but didn't realize they were drafting someone that wanted to be rich and lazy.
@henrywallacesghost5883 you always should draft for value over need.

It’s crazy how big a qb can be to a point where 07 draft lack that. I bet a lot of another players and positions got overlooked that year
It's one of the best non qb drafts of all time, if not the best. AD, Megatron, Revis, Beast mode, Pat Willis, Joe Thomas, Yanda, Greg Olson...
wow i was talking abt this qb draft class today at work.. wow crazy
"Jake Del-home"
I really think Brady Quinn could have been a really good quarterback if he wasn't drafted by the Browns in be protected buy good offensive line

It’s one of the reasons for the mandated contracts for the first round picks.
I was mad that Jordan Palmer didn't make it big because I got a rookie chrome card of his numbered 1/1

The greatness of the 2004 draft class
I remember watching LSU win 13-10, 10-7 and Russell was garbage,I was shocked when I saw a mock with him as a high 1st
Goofball Al Davis was obsessed with 6'4"+ QBs and was pretty much senile by the time Russel was drafted.
This was the era of the darkest days in Buffalo, it was miserable for the Mafia in 2007.
