I love all TVR`s, even the wedges but the Cerbera is my favourite, every curve of it is gorgeous. I Used to have a 1985 Lotus Excel as a weekend car but ended up using as my daily, some times a car doesn't need a million horse power to be a fantastic drivers car, I couldn't stop smiling while driving it. and despite common misconceptions it was as reliable as any other car ..
Marc, thanks so much for the comment! My cerb was one of my first ever sports cars! I love it to bits! Wanted one ever since i was 8 years old and saw one in a pub car park with my dad.! I couldn’t believe the way it looked!
drove my Cerb 4.5 out to Luxembourg and back most weeks over a period of several months. Reliable, relatively efficient and made the journey much more fun than flying.
I was the same. Loved it pulling up in the pub car park and said to my dad “wow what is that!!” Now i have one i do feel very lucky!!! Glad your enjoying the channel!! :-)
I love these cars , I’ve always wanted one since the time I was a passenger in the mid nineties when I wasn’t able to afford the insurance let alone purchasing one , now forward 25 plus years I’ve been looking at the 4.5 AJP but in order to purchase this magnificent beast I would have to sell my V10 M5 which I’ve had for nearly five years which has had all preventive maintenance issues sorted …. it’s a hard one 😅 I enjoyed the vid , I remember doing a similar mpg test in the M5 over a longer distance which surprised me as well ( around mid twenties) 👍
Enjoyed the video and your camera tech skills. I used to 'commute' to Germany in my Chimaera 400, then a Mk1 Tuscan and later in my Tuscan Convertible. I used to get around 28mpg with those over the 750 motorway miles. My 4.2 Cerbera used to give around 24 mpg on my 100 mile daily UK commute. As you said, I put the mpg down to the lightness of TVR's.
Glad you enjoyed the video! It the camera work is all down to the amazing team behind the scenes at online media video productions. Glad you recognise the skills!
Great vid! I've taken my 4.5 on several 3k mile round trips to the south of Spain from Surrey, and it averaged 24.8 to 25 mpg over those trips, admittedly mostly steady 80mph. Mapped by the legendary Joolz at Kits and Classics in Chesterfield (Cerbera tuning guru). It has consistently given 411BHp on Dyno Dynamics rollers ever since, over the last 15 years.
A stunning Cerb you have there and being a 2005 means it will have been really well sorted ex factory. I have a 2001 4.5 in New Zealand with the purple/green reflex paint job. It always gets lots of attention. I find on the highway that I am feathering that long travel accelerator and get amazing MPG - if you floor it you're in jail term territory in a few seconds! Out of interest how does the performance compare to the Ginetta?
In US gallons it's 6.91 liters = 1.825 US gallons. 32 divided by 1.825 = 17.534 MPG. Even by US standards that is great mileage for a supercar killer !
He's talking about actual gallons! You know, Imperial gallons, 4.54 litre gallons. Not the stupid us gallons that are 2 quarts, which makes absolutely no sense by the way!!!!
Matthew, thanks so much for the comment. Yeh cerbera is a great car. I Absolutely love it! Took me around 2 years of searching before i took the plunge and bought this one. There are allot of rotters out there but this one is great.
It’s true, that’s what I get in mine. I think it’s because you don’t have to step on it much and it just goes like hell anyway, it’s very rare I floor it.
When I test real world MPG I do about 200-250 miles (in the US), but given your fuel prices I can understand why you did such a short test... Wonderful car btw!
I have an sd1 rover in NZ with a bored &stroked rover v8(now 4.6 litres) producing about 300 bhp . I bought it in wellington and drove it home to the bottom of the south island in a very non direct route covering 2400KM, it did 26 mpg, so your cerberra's economy didn't surprise me much. Beautiful car,by the way
I picked up my Griffith 500 from having the interior retrimmed in Wolverhampton. Drove it home to Dover Kent. 221 miles. I did the same experiment by brimming it at pick up then brimming it again when I got home. My car got 29mpg. That's what lightness and thousands of pounds spent on engine ECU and other upgrades gets you.
@@fence4821 I'd get hold of a 4.5 Lightweight or Red Rose edition to give you the best chance. Would still beat most mid-range performance cars, but would probably struggle against the most modern 911s and M5s etc. Reckon it would stand a chance against a 996 GT2 RS though.
Easy to believe, I drove mine 150miles from Wales mix of A road and motorway. Got 28mpg using the same method of measurement and told everyone at the time. Very impressive, as you say geared for 190mph and very light makes it surprisingly good
I remember when I had my tuscan petrol was 70p a litre. I used to go to work in it every day till the engine gave up. I don't recall it being particularly thirsty tbh but it took your money in other ways 🤣. Miss that car dearly.
OK I had a BossHoss , A small block 5.7 litre chevy motorcycle. The weight I was told by the texas workshop 750 kilos, but think it was nearer to 500 kilos. this was a 2 speed semi automatic first gear 17 to the gallon in second 30 mpg I really like the idea of owning one of these !
Your car has the whirlwind kit fitted and will probably have the chip as well, i had a 4.2 that i did 60k in and a 4.5 that did 20k. you need a standard car for a test not a modified one
You've got to include urban driving and several full tanks. I've owned mine 17 years. 18-20 mpg. Also how do you inow its a 4.5. I see the intake manifold of a 4.2.
@@fence4821 Well, I had a 2006 Nissan Sentra ( sunny ) , and it had a 1.8 4cylinder. When I drove it how I like to drive, a bit faster than the signs tell me to. I could get about 30 mpg. I figured your car, being only a year older, with a much larger 4.5 liter, wouldn't get nearly the miles I did, but surely had to get at least 20 mpg. So I figured 23 miles sounded like a good almost middle area 😜 it made sense in my head
Cerbera is my favorite car. Unfortunately too expensive for my wallet. I have a '96 4th gen Camaro. 70% of its body is made of fiberglass. 3.8 V6, 200 HP engine. Fuel consumption, just like your Cerbera. Max 13 liters per 100 km, that is ~ 3 gallons per 65 miles. It would use less fuel, but Camaro weighs 1500 kg. 😉
🤦♂️ He was never on the freeway, He was usually half to full throttle. Any 5.7 at that amount of throttle back roads is going to do the same or far far worse. Watch the video
Just coz you feel like your tearing up the tar seal with extraordinary acceleration. But yeah who cares how much fuel it uses as it's not really a guzzler. My Toyota uses more fuel than my Chimaera.
At last a proper muscle car ,not one of those ones out there now that you can't drive in the rain,or wind in case it won't start the next day. And has to be put in an air conditioned shed ...
to confirm, during my ownership I didnt experience one breakdown and or one failiure or difficutly wiht the car. it was aintained by Dom and the guys at Powers TVR every year. sometime it was left for months before firing up but would fire up first time every time.

One of nicest Cerberas I've seen. Amazing car.
As sad as it is to say its currently with a new owner. all will be revealed in upcomming episodes.
Noooo… what a shame. Sure there was a good reason. Look forward to the next video.

Yes - this shows a light powerful sports car like the TVR - and so understressed (and geared for 190mph) can be so efficient!!!

Gorgeous car! My fav tvr is the 350 r,but this is close second 😊

That’s incredible. With high gas prices my Cerbera will save me money.
Thats the best thing to tell the other half anyway!!!
The "Ferrari Killer" ❤ ... Cerbera ahhhhhh 😢
This brand could've reach STRATOSPHERE... so much potential! Design wise... work of art 🎨 all
Looks mint like a body off rebuild
Its all original!!! :-) very well looked after car! :-)
@@fence4821 Nice thing about glassfiber bodywork is it doesn't rust.
Outriggers are the main place for rust.
I think you’re the first person to ever be interested in a Trevor’s MPG figures.
Love that cerbera!
Enjoyed that, thanks.
glad to be of service
Not really surprised my Jag xj40 was incredibly good on fuel
because light is right
Individual throttle bodies probably help MPG.
My old BMW 750iL (5.4L) was doing 23 MPG on a run. Not sure what my TVR was getting as I was having too much fun!!
goód fir it
Man, I would love to ride that car…
my 400hp supercharged v8 Jaguar does the same mpg as this TVR
That's a good colour

Gosh that's a pretty car.
Thank you. We think so also!!
That does sound quite high. Unfortunately I can't test mine because if I brim it all the petrol in the filler neck leaks out everywhere 😂 tvr quality.
Left turns only for the first 50kms!
How about the cerebra speed 12 what can you find out about that?
We need to do some digging!! But that would be cool!!
TVR отличная машина мне очень нравится особенно Cerbera
my 2012 mercedes e63 bi-turbo has seen 30 mpg on a 50 mile run
love that car
very few in the US
👍
I've never seen one.
Super rare in uk aswell
Remember that rubbish old Jag V6 S I had? That did an average of 18 or 12 when smashing it!
Yeh that was jokes!!!
Love 😍
I had the 4.0 Straight Six and got 30+ yes it's light but also slippery - Defender = brick by comparison
7:54 4.5litre
Ok here's my guess, 20mpg. It's a big petrol V8 made by TVR with presumably no interest in economy, but it weighs about 30kg.
power to weight allways wins
closer to 1200-1250 usually
D'OH I was so close. I said 23 mpg
Great guess!!!

get a golf gtd to drive behind this tvr, same speeds. you will get 55 mpg with half a ton more weight.
thanks for watching
È in vendita questa tvr cerbero?
Was the 4.5 a factory anomaly or swapped in later?
The v8 options were 4.2 and 4.5 from new at factory. You could also do Red Rose further tweaks to the 4.5 if you were very brave
First very pleased with it is in fact a 4.5 L instead of a 4.2. Then keep referring to it as a 4.2?
Considering the laws of physics here on Earth, I'm a bit confused - with such a light weight, is there any reason why it should consume more..?

21 sounds pretty poor. My red rose does much better (unless I go for it).
wrung 1984 7 mog gidd
Why you keep saying at the end the mpg is for a 4.2, when you said it's a 4.5 at the beginning?
good catch! weel spotted!
me want tvr ! bring me tvr lol
I get better in my jeep GC with the 4.7 v8
much more modern car
Drag race it against a F355/F575 🤷🏻♂️
Thats a good shout
@@fence4821 thanks, nice to see another fellow Cerb owner making videos, look forward to seeing more! 👍
The flat plane V8 sound absolutely cr@p. Why would you want a 4.5 V8, to sound like a 2.0l Vauxhall 4-pot!
these sound NOTHING like a vauxhall...Ferraris are also flat plane V8s
