Fantastic links course. Really tests your game to the max. Played it twice (in a day) last June. With the castle always in view and glimpses of the magnificent dunes near the sea, it is one of the those special places in our golfing world that make you appreciate how lucky we are to be there. Last year's Club President also ensured that we had a proper lunch between rounds. 🙂
Tremendous photography and good golf craic again. James Braid area for some joyous play. Great eye opener to add the area to the bucket list ⛳️ Cracking effort cookie jar boys!
Was great, that back nine is a brutal test off the backs, luckily we got away with some forward tees. Thank you, some winter work paying dividends (very occasionally)
Not sure that global sea levels were that much higher (if any higher) a thousand years ago. Just because a castle is near the coast doesn't mean it was once *on* the coast, right?
It was just what we were told about the land. Castle is about 750 years old, could just be via coastal shift like Rye for example. Agree, seems a stretch the sea was 20 foot higher
Done some digging on Wikipedia: ‘’The sea originally came much closer to Harlech than in modern times, and a water-gate and a long flight of steps leads down from the castle to the former shore, which allowed the castle to be resupplied by sea during sieges.’’
Really good video. Been a member here for 58 years. Never ever get tired of playing it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Was a treat to get to visit,
And we hope to return soon.

This is really really good stuff. Love the boomerang anecdote!

Great video! I’m playing there twice this weekend for the first time and this video has gotten me even more excited than I already am
Thanks! You’ll love it!
Beautiful golf course and surrounding area.
Thanks Mark! Totally unique as well with the castle, such a great spot
Great stuff lads. Had a cracking day there on Sunday! Drying out nicely after a long winter
Thanks Sam!
As a past member, i love Welshpool. But some local people don't enjoy it because it's too hilly.
The course has a good number of members from Japan and you don’t see the sea from the course itself.

The castle like many of Edward's castles was built to be provisioned from the sea. If you go to Harlech, you can see the sea gate below the castle.
