  • Golf has been played at Aberdovey since 1892 when a rudimentary version of the game was played to flower pots, borrowed from a local house out in the links.
One of its then members was none other than Bernard Darwin, the greatest golf correspondant of all time who wrote extensively about the game, and where Aberdovey held a special place in his heart.

Super footage of an inspirational links course. I played it for the first time a year ago. I spent an hour in the Darwin library room before we went out. Then the golf course... cannot speak highly enough about it. A day that will remain firmly in my memory until the next time.

Thanks Michael! I had no idea Darwin was married into the same family that founded the club… and upon further digging he was also related to Wedgwood family I think too! Lost an afternoon digging through Darwin’s family tree the other week

@@CookieJarGolf Losing an afternoon is a fair trade-off for knowing more about the Darwin family and their connections in golf and otherwise. 🙂

What a wonderful-looking seaside links. I don't know what is more stunning, the photography or Sam taking driver off the deck. 😂
