I'm pretty much jaded with all the golf tutorials these days on Y.T., T.T., etc. What caused me to stop on this one was the unique thumbnail.....(Underhand Throw...). Found myself staying for the whole 7+ minutes. Damn if it didn't get me off the sofa and off to the range (on a 98 degree day) to try this out. When I finally got it right, the feeling I had was that of a baseball power hitter. The ball was going ridiculous distances.....thank you, sir! Got a new subscriber here! 👍🍸🥃
Thank you so much because it's a enlightening ah ha moment for me. Working hard on my game at 67 and have become way to mechanical and technical. I'm excited to go to the range and just relax.
Love the simplicity of the hand throwing. This is what I have incorporated in the swing recently and seems to be getting better. Just trying to override the bad habits formed over the years. Thanks for making it easy to understand in a few minutes of instruction.
This is quite eye-opening. I always find the most useful tips are those which, like this, alter your concept or and think differently about what you're doing.
Very good. This makes more sense to me from playing baseball growing up. I tried some other concepts but had no feeling of control or distance in the swing. Throwing motion I can relate to.
Really good video. Been working on this type of swing, just haven’t quite got the arm throw down yet. I get down to Bowling Green for work a couple times a week, think I’ll schedule some time with you and head on down to Hendersonville soon.
I go along happily thinking that I am learning this game and then I come across some instruction like this and everything goes out the damned window. Thank you.
Wow! I needed this. I just walked in the backyard at 5am to try this. It took about 5-6 swings with just my right hand to get the feel for it and once I added my left arm back in I simply kept it straight but for the first time focused on what my right hand was doing. Before I always swung with my left arm…. Now with my focus on my right arm I am sailing my irons farther and straighter than ever before. I can’t wait to get out to the course! Edit: another round driving balls with my 5 iron and I have finally crossed the line from having trouble hitting straight with any power to can’t miss! I have no idea how I never had this epiphany before…. I’m right handed, why was I trying to control my swing with my left arm??
@@rkswingking need more consistent practice with this but took it straight to the course today and gained an extra ten yards on average with my irons if I made good contact, and this caused me to make easier swings which feels really nice. It threw off my driver though but I feel i'm on the verge of breakthrough, just need a little more muscle memory with it. Thanks!
I like the idea of winding up with the right hand then throw your right arm toward the target....but ive yet to try it lol makes a lot sense though and you can really see how you get through the shot and the clubhead rises up high after impact....makes a lot sense and will defo have to try
Will do. My grips always been pretty solid(2/3knuckles) but I think this might help me get rid of my bad habit instinct to hit at the ball.....the feeling of throwing my right arm toward target sounds like the ball will be collected without trying to hit at the ball which is what im striving for and used to do years ago when i was getting lessons...will let you know how I get on. Cheers
I figured this out literally yesterday what helped me massively was lifting my left heel up of the floor and pointing the knee towards the ball it keeps you centred then throw underhand as he said and I have honestly never hit the ball as far and straight ❤
Yeah I heard this idea from speed golf rob it’s the one that’s helped me on striking the best, once you get your body lined up and grip down you don’t even have to think about anything besides this and tempo to hit a pretty good shot atleast it works for me
You can have that image and do that . You will just have to open your chest more and have a heck of a lot of right lateral bend . I just want the right arm action that goes with the compound pivot . It is faster and easier on the body , but if your flexible you can do it , A current tour player that does this is Victor Hovland and so his speed is capped at a certain speed even though he is world class player with that move that works for him
Agreed it worked for hogan who had to hit 500 balls a day to maintain his form . He said I lf he missed 1 day he had to practice twice as hard .. I am just trying to make it easy on everyone 😌
Close .. I am teaching this with a compound pivot and he keeps his weight on left side and is more rotary ... but if your getting good results from it keep doing it !
No retain the lag, hold the angle here, rotate the body, that style of teaching is destroying more golfers than it helps, no wonder average handicaps haven't changed in years despite technology, it's a bat and ball game
I feel That's not a great thing to say that your arm is coming from the side of your body. Most instructors talk about how the club and arms stays in front of your body
The right elbow does get closer to the body and the elbow , pelvis and knee and ankle joint all come into impact together and will feel like side of the body ... I can understand there could be a misinterpretation
Your right it would then be a back handed move .. like tennis backhand .. but the left hand has to be in correct grip. I went over this in one of my videos about hand action
I get what you are trying to illustrate by saying the body doesn’t move the hands and arms, and I am going to try this idea/feeling . However, when many people speak of the body moving the arms, they tend to be talking about if you keep the arms and hands structure at address; and then move the body. Just as if you were doing say a wood chopping oblique exercise with a cable or band. You would keep the structure formed at the start of the exercise and turn your body or tilt your body..at least to start the motion. Im guessing, you know this though. You are just trying to illustrate a point. I do feel/think keeping some structure to your arms would make things more consistent or powerful than just trying to move your arms and hands independently of your body. Then again, obviously my swing has issues; or I wouldn’t be looking at youtube videos. I don’t think necessarily that is what you are trying to say to do. Though, because you frequently address that the body doesn’t move the arms, it can seem like you are implying that. When you are throwing a ball though, you think about taking the hand back; but the body is what moves first. The intended motion makes the body do what it knows to do. I think the problem is that the golf swing is not what people/the body know what to do. There isn’t a specific way to do it. Or, at least one taught and then learned by most people. So, we all have these ideas of what a golf swing is, or the function of one, that is inaccurate. At least, in part. We don’t have a correct “intended motion” for our body to do. Our brain is cuing our body to do something, but at least in part, our body is doesn’t have the right blueprint or taught motion pattern.
Thank you . I am glad you found the channel . I try and teach images and feels . The body does respond there is force before motion and shifts and counterbalances for sure. Understand knowing all this doesn't necessarily make you better . I am just keeping it simple. I have done videos that are extensive detailed amd longer that are on my page . Force before motion and counterbalances etc . All that happens though with throwing images or swinging a rope a weight on a string . I really try and teach people to golf and not just play golf swing . I hope this helps .
I have to comment again because my game has gone to a different level,I’m hitting the ball further than I’ve ever done, and more consistent, seriously, thank you so much,🏌🏼🏌🏼🏴

That's awesome!!!!
Thanks so much
Another great one Roger, you’re basically the only guy on here teaching golfing. Not weird body positions, teaching golfing . Much love from Canada
Thanks so much , hope you are improving 😀
And from North Dakota. I agree with this guy
Hi North Dakota.. 😎 cool thanks
Love the videos really helps visualize the golf swing. Do a video on hitting irons. Long vs short and how to not chunk or top them.

Great to hear! And thanks for the comment . They all mean alot to me and love that your getting better because of it 😌
As an owner of Mike Austin and Mike Dunaway DVD’s You sir are an excellent teacher
Wow ... thank you . Very high praise
Straight Mike Austin instruction, very good lesson Roger!!
Thank you 😊
What an awesome coach! He's got a great way of conveying the golf swing ... a way that average person can relate to. Thanks so much Roger!
Your very welcome.. thanks for the kind words
Roger is the man!! Another gold nugget!!! Keep em coming
Thank you !

That's great keep me posted on your progress
Very helpful advice! Since I am focusing more on my right arm / hand action I am improving. The right hand is definitely key for me.
Glad I could help !
Thank you for this. I've been trying to focus on my right hand throwing the club/ball
Your very welcome

Great .. looking forward to working with you
Very much like Mike Austin method. Day to learn makes the game much simpler. Thanks
And Manuel de la torre ... yes agreed 👍
You the man, Roger.

Thanks so much for letting me know your success !!
great swing thought for me to take to the course, thanks!
Enjoy 😉 let me know how it goes ... ps must have hands in the manner I described with the grip or won't be correct

Are u saying use right elbow joint in downswing?
In a throwing motion it goes from bent to straight and it is s major power producer
Marcus Enblad would be proud of this video
Thanks for the compliment ☺️
As an engineer, I concur.
Thank you sir
100% , I was screwed up for a year with the body moves the club garbage. I was over the top over and over
That's good only a year .. people play that way there whole life !
Thanks for the comment 😀
Strong left hand grip?
Just how hand hangs at the side
I always thought the golf swing was like skipping rocks on the water.

100% agreed!! Enjoy 😉
I have believed this for a long time. It’s similar to bowling.
Yes it is just the tool changed
And the lead arm is a frisbee throw
Yes sir
Just like manuel de la toro said
Yes sir !
I gotta wear glasses..😞
Get the frame less or big Oakley types
@@rkswingking I could get birdie glasses..but I will still double bogey..luv your vids👍

skipping a stone on the water
