But after producing several very successful nature based films... Walt wanted to up the ante on one of the parks already signature attractions. And what he ultimately decided to add, would change how Disney imagineering approached every future ride to come!

This was the attraction that sold me on Disneyland when I was a kid.
Disneyland has grown alot. Big thunder mountain railroad splash mountain. And ghe parking lot became California adventure !
A little sad that this huge area all disappeared in order to allow the room for Big Thunder Mountain, which is a WONDERFUL ride, but required the loss of what seems like an equally wonderful area.

This is one attraction I wish they'd never taken out, it was way before my time but it symbolizes the two things I love most in this world Trains and the Desert

Just found your channel yesterday, I’m so glad I did. I’ve watched every video I can find on this ride. I was born in 82 so I never got to ride it sadly. But I love learning about old rides, and for some reason I’m more fascinated about this one than any other. It’s not like I like trains or desert, there’s no reason that this ride intrigues me so much. Maybe it’s cause it feel so Walt, but so do so many Tomorrowland rides. Thanks for the video, I love hearing someone new talk about it!
Edit: I wrote this when I started the video. I just wanted to say I love the way you talked about the ride and the era differently than I’ve seen it talked about it other videos. I fully went into this video expecting it to be just like the other videos I’ve seen, as history is history, and I was fine with that, I still wanted to watch. However the format you did this in and the mix of different information was awesome. Really great job, thank you so much for your research and time! I am sooooo down for this series! I didn’t even speed it up like I do on 90% of the videos I watch! 😊

Um I love both Trains And Desert!
We first went there in 1961.
1966 is when 'America the Beautiful' was installed. Across from it was the Poeple Mover, Journey into Inner Spse, The Space Bar where top pop groups would perform. 1960 is when The Matterhorn Bob Sleds, The Submarine Ride and the Monorail made their debut. I Was There. I grew Up In Disneyland.
Actually, the Matterhorn, the Submarines, and Monorail all opened in 1959

This is the one attraction I missed that I wish I could have seen. Especially since there's really no good footage of the Rainbow Cavern, so I have to basically imagine what it looked like in person.
The lack of Rainbow Cavern footage is a travesty. But I also think that adds to its legendary status.
@@HappyPlaceExplorers i can see that. I put it up there with how I kinda preferred the Hatbox Ghost as a legend with barely any footage aside from like, 1 grainy video and a photo vs when he was brought back to the ride a few years back.
Hatbox Ghost is pretty nifty today, but I really want to see how he would have operated back then. Certainly not the same at all.
I would of loved to ride the train in rainbow caverns. Once again... wonderful video 🥰

Sad that Disney has gone woke and will be gone. My Grand children will never see the real magic Disney had back in the 60's to the 80's. I'm done with Disney.

You may want to revise that part of this video's narration to reflect the book's adult theme of what it was like for black and white adults and children to live under southern racism, and with southern racists, in the depression South.
Agree to disagree. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite novels and to me the whole of the narrative is a woman recalling a season of her childhood. It is her innocent childlike perspective that makes the various forms of prejudice she observes around her so puzzling. You are correct that the storyline has heavy adult themes. But the strength of the novel is viewing these injustices through the eyes of a child, a lens that stresses their absolute absurdity. To me, this doesn't cheapen the moral of the story... It emphasizes it.
