About Lotus Root
In north and eastern regions of India, the stalk of the flower is used to prepare a soup called "kamal gatte ki sabji" (Hindi: कमल गट्टे की सब्जी) and starter called "kamal kakdi pakode" (Hindi: कमल ककडी पकौडे).In South Indian states, the lotus stem is sliced, marinated with salt to dry, and the dried slices are fried and used as a side dish. In Kerala (Malayalam: "താമര") and Tamil Nadu, this end product is called "Thamara Vathal". Young lotus stems are used as a salad ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine. And as vegetable ingredient for some soup and curry in Thailand, such as "Keang som sai bua"(Thai: แกงส้มสายบัว, Lotus stem sour soup) and "Keang kati sai bua"(Thai: แกงกะทิสายบัว, Lotus stem in coconut milk curry) |

I made this using Hot Honey and have the batter and regular honey on the other half. I fried the Hot Honey slices last so that the heat didn't affect the other version. Both were super delicious - i really loved the Hot Honey version.

It tastes like a fiberous potato and yumm..if anyone is wondering
Can we fry it before n cook it later
Medium or High or low flame
Excellent recipe, Can dis dish be made with any non-veg item also
Can we boil before cutting and will they remain crispy if we fry and mix sauce before serving
Loved the way you said" for reasons best known to those who call it so" because my sister corrected me saying "Lotus stems" to my reference to LOTUS ROOTS. I was at a loss because she never entertains corrections
Does it take a long time to fry lotus roots
Can it be air fried or baked instead of deep fried?
Yes it can
Alternative for garlic please
Kamal kakdi is dried, preserved and fried at will.... Like chips in southern India.
Can we directly heat honey and lemon? 🤔
Um, nadru is a rhizome, and rhizomes are modified stems so "Lotus Stem" is more accurate than "Lotus Root"
Can I replace it with potatoes?
Hi enjoyed seeing g your version of lotus stem what if I'm vegan how can honey be replaced?
Much appreciate a quick reply
Yes me too liked the way you explained everything g
This is excellent. The cleaning is tiresome, but the end result bis damn good
i have heard never heat the honey
also used in acchar (or achar sometimes, as transliteration into Roman alphabet is inconsistent), either in mixed North Indian (and Gujrati) pickles or stand-alone lotus root achar
Does anybody know where do i find lotus roots....i live in a city and i dont know where to find this....i dont think sabzi mandis sell this...i want to try this but i have never gotten it
Are you in mumbai? You can find it in khar ochi pasari shop, or andheri west 4 bungalow market
Hi I'm from Netherlands, I ate this lotu roots in a restaurant with my Indian family in new Delhi.
I have now bought the lotus root in the asian store here in the Netherlands.
These contain a lot of moisture......( and sugar ) so when I deep fry them, they quickly become dark brown and in my opinion do not lose enough moisture to become completely crisp.
The taste is OK but the texture is too soft.
Do you have any advice on how to make this?
My roots become chewy within seconds of plating. Please help.
We Punjabi call them 'Bhein'
Finger licking good 😻😋
💯
Don't you need to coat the lotus root slices with corn starch.
But your cooking wild honey 🧐
Itna English kaise bol lete hai log... Aisa laag raha tha ki Shashi Tharoor recipe bata rahe ho....
Honey must not boiled.. it will become bad health..
Compost baby! no garbage.
Sir it's lotus stem not lotus root
You haven’t given quantities. How much honey. Corn flour. Water etc.
That’s most important.
Otherwise it’s A mess.
Wow what happened to him
Majhe thode sogi zhale.taste was good😢
But honey at this high temperature, not good for health.
It's poisonous to heat honey
Trypophobia alert ⚠️ 😫
Hindi nhi aati kya
