Reports said Indian refiners have begun paying for some oil imports from Russia in Chinese yuan. Moscow is not allowed to deal in dollars and euros and the yuan has increasingly become an alternative for the country for settling payments. But why are India and Russia not settling trade in rupees? Palki Sharma tells you.

Because major Indian companies like Tata and mahindra are not willing to export or provide services to Russia on account of secondary sanctions from USA. That is leading to a pile of rupee reserves that Russia can barely use.

@@teheddy280 Russia offered Tata to manufacture aviation components for sukhoi super jet 100. Tata declined because of fear of secondary sanctions and this was before 2022. Plus tata earns a lot from America via TCS.
India has to pay Chinese currency to its trade with Russia because India has very few Russia wanted products. In other words, Russia now desperately needs Chinese products to meet Russian huge requirements.

The world revolves around China and every country is China's underling. 86% of the goods consumed globally are manufactured by China. I'm not talking about iPhones, luxury vehicles, exotic clothes etc. that the ordinary/average African (which constitutes the majority of the African population) cannot afford. For example, the phones used by 92% of Nigerians are Chinese made while the Nigerian privileged class are able to afford Western luxuries.
The trouble is the Rupee is not worth the paper it is printed on. Strengthen your currency, then Russia might consider it.
Russia can see that China is a country that can stand up to the Europeans and Americans and not be told who they can be friends with.
Indian politicians do the bidding of the American,s. and that is why Russia puts more trust in China and anyone can see why.
I have always been baffled about Russia’s decision to trade in Rupees. What are they going to do with Rupees? Russia cannot use Rupees to buy anything from any other country, other than India. And there’s precious little that Russia wants to buy from India. On the other hand, there are lots of stuff that Russia wants from China that they can pay for with the Yuan. And there are several countries that would accept the Yuan for their goods.
Indian Rupees are useful in Sri Lanka as we import most of goods from India, but since India is an imperialist nation nowadays, there is a huge risk on sovereignty.

And the IMF also accepts numerous other national currencies in payment, so this is not new.

As India thinks that it economy is growing, it rush to put the Rupees globally, and remove the Dollars, which it does not have much goods to export to the World. Indian currency is always depreciating. It's an unstable currency. Nobody wants to rely on this. Too many things need to to be fixed. India should start rupee trade with Uae and all African countries. It will increase demand for rupee. Indian nationals living abroad should be encouraged to open rupee accounts and keep savings in rupee.

In Russia , Dollar / Euro / SWIFT banking system were sanctioned by USA /EU and all the dollar and Euro savings in foreign banks of Russian government were freezed , only the Chinese yuan is not sanctioned ( available ) for all international trade with all other countries for Russia

India GDP was surpassed by China, had war with China, now India proclaims its more advanced than China, it's population surpassed that of China. How could Rupee not more desirable than CNY? What happened?
