To anyone wondering the impact of this war to the belligerents
1. Despite being the victors The ottomans gain nothing from this war, victory in this war did not bring any significant material gain for the ottomans not even a war indemnity. On the other hand, the Ottoman treasury was nearly bankrupted due to war expenses, the Ottomans achieved no significant territorial gains, lost the right to a navy in the Black Sea, and failed to gain status as a great power, making them even more dependent on the British and France.
2. The Austrians, sespite being unscathed from this war, actually loses the most, abandoning its alliance with Russia, and not siding with allies either, they pretty much isolated themself, resulting in the series of disastrous defeat with france in 1859 and Prussia in 1866, rendering their influence in the German speaking lands to a miniscule
3. In Great Britain, Lord Aberdeen, the British Prime Minister, the mastermind of this war lost a vote to No Confidence, and forced to resign, in the end despite won the crimean war, the British Government face a major publuc backlash and failed to stop Russian expansionism for good, 1877 would show this
4. The Russians, definitely being punished from this war, and being forced to dismantled their fleet in the Black sea, it was a hummiliation, but, compare to the ottomans and the Austrian, the Russian punishment are only on the short terms, after extensive modernization and reforms by Tsar Alexander II expanding the railway, communication and the army, Russia is back on the game, with the fall of france in 1870, renouncing the treaty of paris and establishing the black sea fleet once again, in 1877, they would steamroll the balkans, and cause the independence of Bulgaria and Serbia
5. For france, despite losing more men than the british, actually the only nation that trully "won" this conflict, firming their control of church in the middle east, and also in the ottoman empire.
The Austrian decision to stay neutral is offten portraied as stupid. But it was the only reasonable thing to do. Helping the Russians would have fueled the independence movement of the Slavic part of the Empire. Siding with the Western Allies would have brought them to the front

The soon to be Kingdom of Italy gained the most from the conflict: they sent a third of the army and got in exchange international attention on the italian unification and an alliance with France against Austria.

I wouldn't be surprised if our friend Eric here lives somewhere like Ukraine where there is lots of Anti-Russia stuff, or he lives in Russia itself and he's kinda saying that he hates Vladimir Putin's government, but not the culture and history of the country itself. Granted, I'd hate my own country and government if me and almost everyone I see is below/ever so slightly above the poverty line while my country is ran by rich mobster oligarchs that have a free pass to everything.
Or maybe he's just salty that one of Russia's historical enemies lost a battle that he thought that shouldn't have been lost.

That's what I hate about how schools teach history. It's not just a collection of periods, it's a chain where one event is connected to many other following it. For example one of the biggest consequences of the Crimean war was the hostility between the Russians and the Austrians, who in the Russians' eyes had betrayed them, something which would eventually become one of the reasons for WW1
One major thing you didn’t mention was that the British involvement in the war, and their desire to defeat/balkanise their enemies, lead to the US/Russia “special relationship” that would prove critical in the US civil war

How about the Italian War of Unification? Napoleon III and Franz Joseph both made strategic errors that resulted in not only Italy uniting, but also much more larger and powerful than expected (though it was also partially because Britain secretly helped Garibaldi land in the Kingdom of Naples and overthrow it). Heck, a big reason both emperors made peace is because they were horrified by how brutal the Battle of Solferino turned out.

Followed for awhile and I really wanted to say, this may have been some of the best individual animations made for your videos. I thought the almost miniature like appearance of the soldiers during the zoomed out tactical map helped as well. Excellent in a vastly underappreciated war for Europe.

I am glad you made at least a brief mention of the important contributions of Florence Nightingale and her team of nurses. Their care of the Allies wounded and sick was an important step forward in the treatment of soldiers
The irony is that the british would make the same mistake at Gallipoli in WW1,proving they learned nothing from the Crimean War. Only difference was that instead of the french and ottomans fighting with them,they'd use the australians and new zealanders.

The causality rate for Gallipoli was less than that of most WW1 battles on the western front and some horrors happened elsewhere in the middle east as the British invaded Iraq. You guys didn't have it any harder than anyone else...unless you would rather be fighting in Africa against one of the greatest guerrilla leaders of all time in German East Africa? Stop complaining.

In part one, I am disappointed you didnt mention the Light Brigade actually made it to the guns despite everything, and how the charge was so suicidally brave the Russians thought they were drunk.
I think this guy doesn't like a lot France too, French army role has been made totally invisible in both videos or just to illustrate the desorganisation of the allied troops. It is the french that took Sebastopol and were the most numerous contengent of the allied troops. A good example of anglo-saxon re-writing history ...
Yeah there are a few very dodgy things. Pinning the blame for WWI on Russia's politics in the 1870's is more than a bit off.

Not a single mention of the battle of Malakoff which was litterally the bloodiest and most decisive battle of the entire war ?
Yes, that struck me as really odd. The French storming and capture of the Malakoff redoubt were the main reasons that Sevastapol fell. It left the Russians without their control of the Black Sea and thus no easy access to the Mediterranean. It makes no sense that he left that out.

Actually I talked with the Armchair Historian on his Discord server and he told me he didn't talk about it because "it wasn't a pitched battle, just an assault" and that saying "when Sevastopol finally fell" was enough looool.
Plus he didn't mention the battle of the Chernaya too, which was a pitched battle and an important Russian defeat...
@@lahire4943 Well he talked a lot about all the other battles lol. It seems a bit weird to leave the decisive battle out - the one that actually resulted in the fall of Sevastopol. It wasn't exactly a small assault either both armies lost over 10,000 troops each I think and the final success came after both the British and French had tried a few times. The British being repulsed attacking the Redan which was also guarding the approach to Sevastopol to the south. Well, I guess it's his channel so he can do what he wants haha.
No mention of the huge French role at Malakoff or during the siege of Sebastopol. Very British centered while it was said that the French armies performed better
