Also note that: - USB is not working and i can not reset the windows - the only way when i can type something is in the BIOS "the security question" using the touch keyboard. It's impossible to recover broken wire using hairdryer - too low temperature. But in your case it may help. There is a micro flaw somewhere in the motherboard. It's impossible to find it. So usually the solution is to resolder all components in special soldering oven or using IR soldering station.

It does not be constantly just changing between 6,8V and 7,2V, yours be 8V constantly. I measured the diode and got 11,54V on one side and 6,8V on the other side. No 3,3V standby, only measured 0,12V. What do you think? I checked the resistor but It's fine. I think the new battery is broken? also checked the jumper at the big battery measuring points, got 6,8v-7,2v on the side with the 2 pins and on the other side 0V, is that normal? I ordered a new battery just to be sure, still waiting for it, what do you think? thank you
Hi, discharged battery voltage is 6V and charged is 8.4V. It seems ok and should work. Double check all 0R resistors, inductors and converter 3.3V
@@KonstantinSachkov Ok, I found out that the IC for the standby voltage 3,3V is broken

@@seantets Has your surface pro 4 worked again????
Ciao from Italy, can I compare the resistors to know if they're failing? If I compare the two you compare, I find the one that you repaired at 200 ohm while the other one you compared with at OL. What do you suggest?
The working one should be 0R, not 200
Konstantin Sachkov when you say 0R you refer to infinite resistance or infinite conductivity ( no resistance?) Thank you
marcogtturbo I mean 0R = 0.0 Omh (not OL), like a fuse. Anything but 0 Omh means failing resistor.
Konstantin Sachkov that means that at the moment both of my resistance (fuses) are failing because one is 200ohm and the other one is infinite OL. I tested with the battery connected but this should make no difference.
marcogtturbo yes, both are failing. Interesting.
Dear Konstantin, my sp4 didn't turn on nothing, not with or without charger, it also froze the last few times that I used it.
Now I opened my sp4 and the resistor u changed looks fine, do you maybe have any other possible solutions or points I could check?
I'd recommend to double check with multimeter or replace the resistor. And check or replace the battery especially if it 2+ years old.
@@KonstantinSachkov
First of all thanx for the extreme fast respons, really thank you.
that resistor and the other one for compare have the exact same resistance as when I hold the tips of my multimeter against each other,
is this what u meant in the video when u said that u could not find it with the multimeter or u think mine meter is not good enough?
@@by5392 It seems that resistors are ok. Check battery: find battery pins, connect multimeter. Connect charger and check that voltage increases (charging is working). Then disconnect charger and connect power resistor 2-4 Omh to multimeter pins in parallel to battery. The voltage should be above 7.4V. If not, replace the battery.
any luck on schematic or diagram out there on the deep web? plz help me find one for surface pro 3!
Unfortunately I've found nothing. Use datasheets - it's better than nothing.
Hi, I have the same problem (sp4 not starting but sometimes keyboard lights up) I've checked all the resistors with my multimeter and they seems all good, what can I try?
Check or replace battery.
@@KonstantinSachkov battery seems good, keyboard lights up also when disconnected from power supply
Did you check that resistor fuse? It may show continuity with a multimeter. You should check with a dcps set to 1v 0.50ma and see if current passes
Thanks! Worked for me.
I have a SP4 that does not light the charger LED. Tried three chargers on a borrowed SP4 and all chargers are fine. White LED dead on my SP4. Does not post boot or power up. Charger connecter in perfect condition. Worked one night and will not charge less than 48 hours later. Any ideas ?
Check charger socket, soldering, charger IC and all resistors
Does anyone know a way to test the resistor and what it should be reading
Hi I replaced the screen in my SP3 and the screen stays black. Fortunately I tested it before gluing it back together. It still powers on but with a separate monitor. The screen always stays black. The touchscreen still works proving the screen is ok. What do you think is my problem?
What about backlight? Using flashlight check if there is something on the screen. Find display and backlight power cir path and check if there is voltage.
I replaced the screen on the SP3 and at first the screen was ok but the touch didnt work, so i detached the screen to see if there was some problem and i re-installed it back, tried to turn it on but the device was dead! wtf? I've been careful enough when installed and uninstalled the screen, i dont understand! Tried everything to restart it but nothing.Did you find the issue? Thanks

Try to replace this one if you can't find anything broken.

Hi. Can you post Link for resister? Thank you
In description
My daughter was playing Roblox and the SP4 freeze. I shut down by pressing the power button, after that the SP4 didn't start again.
Overheating when charging and keyboard backlit is on but black screen.
Could be this resistor the problem? Thanks.
Raúl Canales It could. Anyway you'll need to disassemble it to repair.
Konstantin Sachkov Where can I buy this resistor or how could I find it?
Raúl Canales Hi, You should ask any shop or google for
"0603 0R resistor" (or "0603 ZERO OHM JUMPER") - it's original (blown) one or
"0805 0R resistor" (or "0805 ZERO OHM JUMPER") should be used in Surface, bigger one, more reliable.
Hi Raúl, I have the exact same problem, froze once and now wont turn on, just the keyboard light. Did you manage to solve the issue? Thanks, Mark
Same for me, your feedback will be really appreciated, Raul
Bro. Have one with no power issue. I don't think the resistor is the problem tested it 0 resistance I also jumped it to check. And no go. I am wondering if you have schematic diagram
I haven't found anything about surface. Maybe battery's dead?

Hello, I need help because I have a surface that will not load and start!
Replaced the battery with a cheap one then it wouldn't turn on tried the old genuine battery still wouldn't turn on.. no ticking sound though, still charges when plugged in but not turning on even the fan

Worked for me. I got another 0 Ohm resistor from an old pc mainboard. While disassembling i tore the wifi cable but its still working and i have some serious problems with the touchscreen so i had to deactivate it. I might try and see if i can fix that aswell
was working on the touchscreen today and it seems that i shoved my plasic seperator tool ( i used an old guitar pick) too far inside the machine while trying to seperate the screen and must have hit some of the digitizer connections. The result is a dead zone in the touchscreen about one guitar pick across. the rest of the screen and touchscreen is working flawlessly and the position of the deadzone is also managable. so im really happy i got to fix my surface even tho the touchscreen took a little bit of damage. Thank you Konstantin
oh and the wifi seemed to be no issue im expecting a lower rang but inside the house it makes no difference

У меня таже проблема только на surface 5. Где найти этот резистор на питание cpu.
i want to share with you a unique a rare and unique case which you can take'it as a chalange: using a Microsft Surface Probook since new and from the begining were problems even with the phisical keyboard or usb , simple not working. Each time after a factory reset always started to work perfect. All this till one day when navigating the surface got stuck. I turned off and from that moment (1 years ago) till present i can not acces my laptop because is impossible to type the laptop password as :
- phisical keyboard is not working
- the touch screen keyboard is not showing up
- the other option "on screeen keyboard" when you touch'it everything becames blocked and need to re-start.
Also note that:
- USB is not working and i can not reset the windows
- the only way when i can type something is in the BIOS "the security question" using the touch keyboard.
I tryed to reset'i using the power and volume (more than 100 times) and is not working.

The part is in blue color

Same happened to me, I dont know what to do. And unfortunately there is no microsoft stores in my country :(
Yes but this is for an expert technician not your average owner. I wonder why bending and abusing it eventually restarts it? next time I will try heating it up with hairdryer maybe that will activate failing resistor fuse?
It's impossible to recover broken wire using hairdryer - too low temperature. But in your case it may help. There is a micro flaw somewhere in the motherboard. It's impossible to find it. So usually the solution is to resolder all components in special soldering oven or using IR soldering station.
wow thanks for helping me unfortunately the screen finally shattered while I was bending it trying for an hour to restart so I went out and bought an amazon hd 10 never to touch Microsoft again@@KonstantinSachkov
