Power is red, ground is brown, black and yellow stripe is starter, purple is accessory, green is run. Starter wire goes to top part of start button and power goes to the bottom part.
I guess that's one way to do it. This switch panel is actually designed for a racecar. The purpose is to cut the power and fuel to prevent a post crash fire. The accessories are usually fuel pump, radiator fan, and lights. The dash lights should light up with the master power switch on not the accessories switches. The push button is obviously the Ignition start. I'm wondering what that second accessorie switch actually lit up on the dashboard? Looked like some ABS lights or something
Hey looking for some advice I wired the panel the exact same way and it worked the engine cranked over however on the 3rd switch I put the power wire for the fuel pump on it due to a faulty relay system, and now it won't crank I even took it off and reverted the pump wiring to stock still no crank. Perhaps starter? I'm gonna be checking the voltage on it tomorrow, I also did use the voltage meter to check the start button and when I pressed it the 12v came through but no crank.
Update I checked the starter and it works I removed the ews plug and jumped the starter wire with the green wire the car cranked once and all power was lost. I had to go reset the battery terminals. I'm stuck any suggestions?
hi sorry. I'm try to follow this but you've not said how you've connected the push button. 12v to 12v on main switch, earth to off on the main switch. acc on the main switch branches to what...the 3 silver switches or 2 of them and the start button? I don't think you are saying that as the start button doesn't have any spade connectors. So what wire is connected to the start button please? is it just one or have you earthed that too? sorry...Newby to electrics 😁
That kind of connections needs a relay for the. Actual push start bottom because the push bottom is not supposed to support all those amps running true it, the relay would in fact take the load of current and deliver the power to the starter
Hey man. Im wiring up the same panel to my e36. Everything works except the start button itself. Im not sure if im putting the starter wire in the wrong spot or is there another wire that is supposed to connect to the push button as well? Youve gotten me this far and i appreciate the video.
Btw, instead of cutting the wires. Solder the startpanelwires on to the sides of the main wires and just remove the standard ignition barrel.. In case you want the normal ignition back :)
any idea on to why i have power to both my toggle switches (acc, run) , but the functions for each not proceeding when switches on?( no sign of functions at accessories/lights.)
that last toggle isn't being used in the start up and operation right? I'm making my own panel so I bought the switches separately. it seams like the third acc isn't needed. true?
Would you recommend doing this if you lost your key? I'm not worried about locking the car but I lost my keys to my 95 318 .. Do you think I should just do what you did? I've always wanted switches in my car anyways , it' seemed pretty easy in the video any suggestions ??
My E34 won’t start. I bypassed the EWS and it will won’t start. I ran 12 gauge straight from the black/yellow wire on the solenoid and a 10 gauge wire from the positive on the starter to a toggle switch. On the EWS connector I spliced wires 1 and three which are the starter and ignition wires from the EWS connector to the ignition switch. Starter will won’t start.
EviDenz Productions if you’re on the bimmerforums you can find me on there. I have a 1995 525i. Go on that forum and look for drewusmaximus I have a post titled Car won’t start. It’s 6 pages long. I’m trying to replace the starter because I concluded the starter is bad. Now my starter bolt is about to strip. I have the manifold off. You can PM me there. If you’re not on bimmerforums you can email me at drewus.maximus@gmail.com Thanks!
Hey! Thanks for the vid and instructions, I just purchased the same panel for my E36, but the package contains also a 30A relay. Did you have the same? If so, where it should be installed? I'm guessing before the on/off switch?
The relay is MEANT to be used for the starter wires so you don't have that much power flowing through the actual start button as it probably isn't meant to handle that much power and will burn up leaving you stranded somewhere. You're supposed to run the red and black with yellow wires to the relay and the push button is just supposed to activate the relay letting the car start. But that's not how this video shows it being done.
Also in your diagram you mentioned the acc wiring goes to the third switch from the power? or did you mean to go to the botton of the push button? Thanks
Hi, 1DirtbikeBoy i wanna to ask you a question... if i using 2 mm wires but all my car is already 6 mm in a contact switch (positive - ACC 1 - ACC 2). i mean, is that will be over loaded on the 2mm wires and specially when i arm the main switch... because it will be open all time when i am using a car and may be transfer high Amperage, it will be fire (6 mm means high Amp - low resistant ) pls i need your advice
i have an e36, that work really sucks!!, you are adding too much wiring, that can cause a short, and since you cut all the wires out of the original key switch, you will be out on the street!, nice comsept, but i will not do it to my car.
This is a nice extra. But if a thief was to gain access to your car and rip your dash to gain access to the desired wires, hey presto. 90% of the job is done.
Chris Morcom is recommend a master power, 2 toggles then the push button. The master power switch allows you to kill power to the entire panel if need be
Wow inwould say this helped but the diagram isnt well put together and was very awfully explained..... I rather go to All data and figure it out myself but I dont have the patience

Ive literally been looking for a comment or video that tells me what cable is for ACC. Thankyou so much. 💙💙💙
Couldnt find a video where they went this in depth, thank you 🙏
Does it bypass the EWS or DDE, overall? Like the security chip on the key fob wouldnt be necessary anymore?

I had acc 1 as acc and acc 2 as run

You didnt show how you connected the starter switch
What a about the 30A. Relay ????
The key responder still needs a key or no?
This video is a fucking life savor, my ignition tumbler just went out so im gonna just do this!
Im in this boat as well

Is a 96 the same??
color wiring please. i need to do this to my 95 bmw.
Archie Van Colta do 1 wire at a time.

U get it running?
i want to have this done in my car some time after i manual swap it. because racecar. i love shit like this.
Do i have to an EWS delete ? I have a 98' 320i sooo would this work without having to do an EWS delete?
first off 320i a 98 are you sure? 318i 323i 325i 328i are the models i remeber
i have a 97 328i mtech
what about the EWS delete how are you doing this?
idk if this is a dumb question but will it still pass smog like this ?
Btw, instead of cutting the wires. Solder the startpanelwires on to the sides of the main wires and just remove the standard ignition barrel.. In case you want the normal ignition back :)
Random Vids I totally agree. That's what I would had done. Great minds think alike.
Random Vids I did mine like that
any idea on to why i have power to both my toggle switches (acc, run) , but the functions for each not proceeding when switches on?( no sign of functions at accessories/lights.)
please post a color code wiring diagram. thanks
Can you lend a hand ?
For a 96 model do you need a key ?
+YoungClickClack nope
do these work for all bmw ?
by chance could you show the back of the panel with the wires labeled. nobody seems to have a schematic for this damn panel.
that last toggle isn't being used in the start up and operation right? I'm making my own panel so I bought the switches separately. it seams like the third acc isn't needed. true?
correct. the last toggle isnt needed for the start up process. i actually hooked my led light bar to it
Is this gonna work on a e46 316ti?
yes i did something very similar to my 318ti
@@rickydolan7 I just bought a 98 318ti and looking to get a push button start, do you think you could help me out?
@@donovancook5350 yea no problem, if you wanna email me at ricky.dolan7@gmail.com id be glad to help
ill be happy to send you some pictures and show you exactly what i did

Where you get that panel at? Linkgod me
Did you run into any problems not using the relay ?
No, it has been flawless.
Can you put a better wiring diagram if possible? Thanks man
All my lights turn on but no crank. When i revert to the traditional ignition, car starts. What am I doing wrong?
Did you ever figure the problem out? I'm having the same issue but not sure where to look since the previous owner installed the push start lol.
It would have been better if you showed the actual shape of the electrical scheme you drew on paper. There was not much detail.
still got this badass car
that ending lol kid in a candy store

yes
1DirtbikeBoy what about the ews? Is it something that I have to worry about or nah? Just wire everything up and it would start without the key?
Thank you sir for your video and the information you've shared.

Edward Lee did u need to use bypass on ur e36?

Where do I get the panel with the switches?
eBay switch panel
Would I have to take the red ignition out like you did or can I just cut the wires and leave it on the car
does this work for bmw e39
josh 2262 honestly don't know
Ok thanks anyway👍
I need to know if you did it on your e39
Di you still using the key
@EviDenz Productions I have a coded key. I must use the key before the ignition, it's right?
@EviDenz Productions I have a BMW e36 1998. If I don't use the key inside the ring(around the ignition lock) it doesn't start
U never said how u mounted it. Idk what to do with mine
I LITERALLY STUFFED IT IN THE RECTANGLE IN FRONT OF SHIFTER. IT WAS A PERFECT FIT.
Can u show me? Send it to my insta? @superkden

correct. id recommend using 6mm wires. the 2mm wires may not be enough and could possibly overheat or short something out.
badass connection setup
i wiring diagram would be helpful, with wire colors and tracers
Does anyone have a BMW e60 530d 2003-2010 model ignition switch wiring diagram
What if someone breaks in the car, they could just start it up on their own??
BECAUSE RACECAR
you can make a cut off switch on fuel pump in a hidden place

BMW has to have the key to activate computer smart guy
so you do not need the key
Correct. Now the key is only used to lock and unlock the vehicle
+1DirtbikeBoy Isn't there a computer chip in the key so that if it's not in the original ignition tumbler it won't turn over?
no chip in the 95
But the steering column doesn't lock when you go to turn the steering wheel without the key in it?
