I just realised that ‘centimetre’ has the word ‘cent’ in it, which is from ‘perCENT’ which means out of 100, so that could be a way to work out that there are 100 cm in a metre!!
You can also think of the word "century" (100 years).
I never understood anything in class now am rewriting my matric....for the first time I watch this video I understand everything your teaching.....I even gave myself a test and I made it

After watching Mr. J's this conversion table seriously I was able to do conversion. Our teacher didn't taught us how to do and I was literally watching it before my mathematics exam 😂😂

I am also a teacher (not mathematics) and I am surprised that you are so impressed with this lesson ... In the metric system, everything starts with a meter (or divide or multiply by 10, 100, 1000, 1 million ...). I wonder how you learn Imperial Units where the calculations are not so easy ... someone can describe it to me, I will be very grateful :)

Is decimeter a common use measurement, that would seem to be the apparent exchange for what we use '1foot/feet' lenght rule tools for? For example in schools and the like, we keep a foot long rule in our supplies, do they keep a decimeter length rule tool or something of the like?
Germany here. :) No, a decimeter is very uncommon to work with in everyday life, because in most cases, you would either be using centimeters (or millimeters, if you want to be very exact) or jump to meters. Rulers are mostly 30 cm long, which is very close to one foot, I believe. As for (human) heights, you would say that someone is either 1.78 m or 178 cm, but certainly not 17.8 dm.
