So You Think You Can Sushi? Try To Beat This Master Sushi Chef!

SCHEDULE
-Contest will be running for an entire month. (Submission closing date July 31st 2023)
CONTEST RULES:
All participants take their own risk or injury! Gadre, Chef Hiro or anyone related to this channel is not and will not be responsible for any injury stemming from this time challenge contest. Enter at your own risk.
*Gloves NOT ALLOWED*
CONTESTANT MUST DO 5 CALIFORNIA ROLLS (USING SUSHI STICKS)
1. Must use half sheet of nori for each roll.
2. Rolls must use 3 slices of Hass avocado in each roll.
3. Sushi rice cannot be performed in balls or pre-portioned.
4. Must use 2 crab sticks in each roll.
5. Rolls must be sprinkled evenly with sesame seeds on rice.
6. Rolls must be rolled individually, cut in 8 pieces, and plated one by one. (can not place 5 sheets of nori, then place 5 sushi rice balls on the 5 sheets etc).
7. Rolls must be plated on a board on a 45 degree as shown.
8. Rolls must be presentable, evenly looking.
9. All participants must have a phone as timer shown in the frame of the video beginning, during and after the speed attempt.
10. Winner must post video to RUclips where we have the right to upload it for this channel or other social media platforms. Email us the link to your video on RUclips to: teradatech@gmail.com
11. Hiro reserves the right for a re-challenge to beat whatever time is the fastest.
12. Winners (1,2,3) will receive $500, $300, $150 in cash (gift card).
13. Contest closes at the end of July, 2023.
14. For those who wish to enter the eating challenge, challenger must have camera in frame as mentioned earlier, must finish all 5 California rolls with or without drinking anything, mouth must be cleared of any part of the rolls, challenger can be anyone other than the person who made the rolls. Video must be submitted via link to a youtube video which we have a right to share on this channel or other social media platforms. Only 1 winner will be awarded, the one fastest to eat all 5 California Rolls. Cash prize of $250 to the winner.

At the place I worked, my chef told me I needed to get it down to 10 seconds lol. I was like, "Theres no way". This was about as fast as I got. We used a shredded crab/mayo mix so it was way messier. Still, 40-45 seconds seems to be the industry par.

@@D3g3n24 Theres a big difference between 30 and 40 seconds. When you're rolling, it might feel pretty fast, but try actually timing it. Thats why my chef said "10 seconds". Thats how fast he thought he was going, but when we actually timed it, the fastest he got was 36 seconds.

10 seconds?? Oooohh. I was rolling them at 15 seconds before cutting, and I thought I was fast. We also used the crab/mayo mix and also had cucumber and wasabi. The key is, you have to roll the rice in your hand in one shot and get it on the mat in one fell swoop using both hands. One swoop, so it's like one second there. The rest is about the same. But yes, the chief chef whipped your ass into shape back then (oh I was young). You got skills pounded into you. Anyway, I'm late to this party I'm sure it's over and in any case I'm old and suffer from Parkinsonism now.

Well, of course..! If I eat sushi rolls, I'm not interested in rolls that come with rice on the outside. I like simple rolls. I also like nigiri sushi even more.

This is Surimi, commonly known as Immitation Crab. It is made of real fish (fish paste), and it is a high in protein food! You should try it and try the challenge too!😊

Your rice doesn’t cover everything and is very uneven. But this is method sushi.
am spanish and i gotta say spanish rice would not fly! rice not sticky! gotta be sticky like Japanese rice and I love jasmine rice and Goya rice too

Have you tried lab grown salmon for sushi? The FDA has approved lab grown chicken and it’s only a matter of time for fish approval.I’ve seen it on RUclips. No more killing animals! and vegans can eat meat again! Get some and try it.
