    Ok but, how do you get the doll hand back ONTO the doll after taking it off of JUST an S-hook?

      What I'll do is basically a partial restring which is troublesome and why I rarely do this for dolls who don't have easy to take off hands. I pull out the hand, then loop a long string/ribbon through the elastic before slipping off the hand with its S hook. And then I let the elastic go back into the arm. You can change the clothes etc (with two sets of dangling strings coming out of each arm lol) but you'll have to be careful not to lose the ends of the string otherwise you'll have to restring the arms again.

      @@cian1675 tysm! Was just wondering because I recently got a jointed doll and took the hand out of it not realizing that it used S hooks, I'm too used to how monster high dolls are lol! I got the hand back in by pulling the elastic out and putting something in between the two elastic strings and re-hooking the hand

    I recently got a Fairy Castle doll, and the doll has the 'plain S hook' for hand and feet, BUT the doll came with a tool that works similar to the notched wrists in Volks and Switch boys; it slides under the hook when you pull out the hand and lets you swap the hand while holding the hook safely.
    Why don't all companies with standard S hook hands and feet offer such a thing?? I was amazed by it and can use it for my other dolls now, too!

      Oh wow? That tool sounds really useful! I've never heard of it before but it would help alot for changing clothes for dolls with standard S hooks. Do you have a photo of the tool? I'm curious what it looks like!
      Edit: Oh, I searched up box openings of Fairy Castle. Is it the 8 shaped resin piece that appears around 3:03 in this video? ruclips.net/video/XLacSDWmSYY/видео.html
      It seems like it's good for changing hand parts, but it's less useful for putting on doll clothes that have narrow sleeves since the tool would also get stuck in the sleeve like some doll with big hands 😅

      @@cian1675 Yes, it has a loop and two prongs, that you slide under the hook when you pull out the hand. The S-hook rests on top of the prongs.
      Why this is not a commonly-sold item, I have no idea! It's so useful!

      @@Rietto Haha yeah I wonder why? It could probably be sold as a tool like the head-puller tool that many doll shops have.

    Have you ever made a Highbrid doll? If so how do you get the resins to match as close as possible

    • @cian1675
      @cian1675  2 года назад +2

      Yup, I have multiple hybrid dolls (still do). Usually I will search up the company and resin shade I want to hybridise (e.g. Migidoll NS and Volks NS) and see if there are any doll hybrids by other owners, or if there are resin comparison photos. The key is to search for photos from recent years (if you are buying the parts new), and also to search to see how consistent the company's resin colours are across years (some companies change their shades after a few years so old comparison photos would not be very useful). If the parts you want to put together as a hybrid are a good colour match in different people's photos, it's usually a good bet that they will match. Of course, not all combinations will have resin comparison photos, but the general gist is to find comparisons! I hope that helps ^^

    Oh my god i just realized i cut this little thing in my orcar hands😢 thats why i couldn’t attach it 😢

      Not very sure which part you cut and how it's affected your doll but if it's not fixable, would buying new hands be an option?

    You didn’t show how to remove the difficult hand!

    • @cian1675

      Because it'll require a partial restring which is troublesome haha. If you want to know how I do it: I pull out the hand, then loop a long string/ribbon through the elastic before slipping off the hand with its S hook. And then I let the elastic go back into the arm. After that I can change the clothes (with two sets of dangling strings coming out of each arm lol) but I'll have to be careful not to lose the ends of the string otherwise I'll have to restring the arms again.
