I think you were one of the first people to comment on one of my videos when I first started doing this over 8 years ago! Thanks for supporting what I do through the years, I really appreciate it! Cheers, Andy.
Andy deserves 10 x the subscribers that he has. His level of detail and accuracy along with his knowledge and teaching ability is absolutely unparalleled. Sadly, which is probably the reason he doesn’t have more subs. Too many people want the down and dirty versions of these songs, instead of the right way. I’ll stick with this channel, nobody does it better. Thanks Andy!
Jeff Golub, the guitarist who played with Billy, was amazing. His solo albums and with his band Avenue Blue have some amazing playing on them. Thanks for this lesson!
You guitar skills are amazing! Your tone was perfect, and I love the enthusiasm you pass sharing some music with us! Thank you! This channel is a treasure found.
Hi Andy. Heard you're not doing too great at the moment. Hope to have you back in the saddle soon. You are a fine teacher and such pleasant company of an evening when the family are away to bed and I can get my guitar out. Wishing you good health sir. Oh and I made a donation too yesterday. Everyone should if they are getting something from these tutorials. C'mon loyal subscribers! If Andy can't work just now he can't earn so I'm sure even the smallest of donations would be welcome
I can't believe you're putting out free content, but then someone thinks you should arrange it for them also. Where's the appreciation. Sometimes I just don't get people. So, from me. Thank you again.
Jeez no wonder this song is hard with just one guitar. This vid helps me pick which parts to play for a cohesive single guitar play through. You really don't know what's going on in the song until you hear it all broken down.
Hey, just wanted to say, I have a gig tomorrow and need to learn about a dozen tunes. Your channel is my go to resource to get these under my fingers quick. I always get comments like, "wow you really nailed those parts" - that's because you are the BEST at getting to the core of what was the artist was playing.
Wow. I've been listening to that song for nearly 40 years, and never knew how many guitar parts there were. I just know my ONE guitar never sounded even close. lol!
Eighties early Rock is synonymous w/Billy Squire. There was a lot of great Hard Rock and Rock music of the early 80's (pre-1986) - I would say between mid/late 82 to late 1985 , it was a great time for the genres. 1983-84 was the height of that time, IMO - a lot of great music / albums came out at that time. MTV was actually watchable and actually had great music on it. Squire's first 3 major label albums are classics, the layering approach was heavily characteristic of his music - Walkman music, as I like to call it. Emotions In Motion and Signs Of Life : 2 GREAT ALBUMS.
OMG! Sometimes your work is out of this world! I hear all the little stuff in the recordings! It is insane how good this sounds! Wow! My jaw just dropped on to my overdrive pedal! lol
Awesome as always, LOVE Billy Squier, thank you! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying, that surely as great as you are that you must be in a band, would love to see footage of that! I believe you're a fellow Canuck too?
You are the best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of trying to learn from. any way you would let anyone take some real lessons from you .if you live in Illinois I would love to take some a response would be appreciated. Mississippi Queen was excellent teaching ,learning songs is great but I want to know how to pick up songs on my own like you do. Even personal on line would be appreciated.
Thank you for doing this one. Simple but tricky to hear with all of those layers - you nailed it. Speaking of which, if you ever do Don Felder's 'All Of You' that would be amazing. It's a similar song in that it's difficult to transcribe because of all the layers. Rock on, dude!
The clarity and the minute details of guitar teachings are awesome! I wonder what software or apps you use to remove vocals and instrument (like guitar) every time you play demo from original music track. I like to perform in live settings and it's interesting for me to learn your quality teachings. Thank you for providing this information.
Hey, Andy! You mentioned in your “Lonely Is the Night” lesson that you’d be covering another Squier tune in the coming weeks, and I was really hoping it’d be this one. Thanks!
Andy - Great lesson and breakdown as usual. So, how about another acoustic, such as Marc Ford's Cry, Moan, and Wail arranged for one guitar. There are no lessons for this exceptional acoustic blues piece and only 2-3 covers on YT.
Someone upgraded his lighting!..hang on a sec, ..:::grabs sunglasses:::... Great job as usual. Definitely the BEST guitar lesson channel I've seen so far. Love how you minimize distraction by wearing all black against a black backdrop putting all the focus on your hands and guitar. Very smart. You even use the same guitar for all the electric parts & the same guitar for all the acoustic ones. Which of course peeks my interest, and this may have been asked before so I apologize for any redundancy, about what type of guitar collection you've acquired over the years? You must have more than 2...? 🤔
I hope you get this bro. I just run across you trying to learn "sharp dressed man". I was missing a couple of notes. Cant believe it took me so long to find you. But i gotta say...HOLY CRAP!!! You have like, a million song lessons on here...lol. You're the most accurate player I've ever seen. Incredible library of songs you know. Simply amazing bro. Thanks for being here for us.🤘✌...P.S. that red colored les paul is sick man. Please tell me: year, model, color, pick-ups and what that little toggle swith does.( coil split maybe?) Thanks so much!!🤘👍
Hi this channel is veryc wel done all of the tutorials are spot on . I have a question regarding your Les Paul.. I am wondering what you are running for pickups , pots, caps and what the toggle switch between the tone knobs is??? Great Tone Hoping you will hip me to that .. What I should have put 1st is you got your chops smack on Thanks Frankie M
great! The way you play is inspiring for me, it looks relaxed and easy and very precise and controlled. I will adopt that ;-) what is your guitar? I already asked that, sorry
Hey can you make a lesson on Stop This Train by John Mayer? I cant seem to find a good lesson anywhere on the internet. It would be great, keep it up man 👍🏻👍🏻
Love your lessons and playing ability, have learned much. Thank You. If ever possible could you do "Drift Away by Dobie Gray"? Haven't really found anyone that has given any effort. Thanks again.
hi andy. i saw in a mag i got in 0'12 that i was getting back out that in the front , the guy in charge of the issue was andy... i don;t thin you want you last name out there. but was it you ? it was guitar world and great issue!
Hi professor! I wanna ask you something. Could you please make a lesson about Peacekeeper by Fleetwood Mac? I know that you like Buckingham's guitar work and I loved it too. Here in web I found nothing about this music, I think it's a great piece from Lindsey and has some nices Licks. Thank you very much.
I'm curious about your Kemper. I own and have owned dozens of amps, SS/Tube, dozens of pedals, multi pedals, HD500 Line 6, M80 Boss, and just bought a Katana and i cannot get the sound you get from the Kemper. Is it the Kemper or is it just finding the right patches that gives the authentic sounds of old marshals? p.s. i have all the usual popular guitars also...
I see videos like this and I suddenly realize I'm spending too much time on the wrong stuff. I like to get all technical with finger picking on the acoustic which is fine but that's a beast unto its own that will suck up all your time if you let it.
So true..although other than the first few bars of my demo which I played at 137bpm, the rest was locked to 131. No matter how good a drum program is though, it pales to good drummer, and it won't protect you if a fight breaks out in the bar! On the up side, it plays what you want and doesn't argue! Cheers, Andy.
@@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials As a drummer myself I take offense to this comment. If a fight breaks out in the bar...I'm heading for the nearest exit and going home!
Anybody pay money to see this God's gift to humanity live? I'm sorry. I'll bet he torn off 8 shirts to expose his toned body. After which he'd throw his head back look at the ceiling spread his arms crucifix style and waited for chicks to squeal, his guitar slung on his back. His keyboard work beat his guitar playing. I've only bailed on 3 shows, this was one. He might know his way around a studio or hired good people. Just a semi-amateur goofs opinion by not "the" David Gilmour (I do appreciate the hard work it took) I'm trying to play the live version of "I'm so Afraid" off "The Dance" concert Buckinghams over my head on that song. I butcher it, throw me a bone please.

Exactly. My favorite part of his playing is that it’s so clean and precise. And that tone, oh that tone.
We don't see much of Billy Squier these days.... nor do we ever see Andy's face. Coincidence... I think not. Great job, thanks!

Jeff Golub, the guitarist who played with Billy, was amazing. His solo albums and with his band Avenue Blue have some amazing playing on them. Thanks for this lesson!
