Went to a concert to see Pat Bennetar and first act was Billy Squire. My wife and weren’t sure who that was. Well, after the first 30 seconds of his performance we blown away. It was so good most people wanted didn’t want him to leave the stage! Including us.
Billy Squire is awesome. His love for Led Zeppelin is appreciated. You can hear his vocals has a Robert Plant influence and his guitar playing is Jimmy Page influenced. He crafted some great songs. Thanks for the lesson!
When I was a little kid I used to think that some of the Zeppelin songs that I heard on the radio were Billy squire because this album was really popular at the time
Squire is very underrated in my book. He has a very impressive body of work that stands up with the best. Saw him live a few years back and what a great show. Also never forget listening to everybody wants you my first day if high school.
This was the first album I received as a gift from my girlfriend in 6th grade. Really takes me back. My Kinda Lover was my favorite on the album. I do really feel Zeppelin in there.
James, you don't seem to be any worse for wear. Happy you're healing. Billy Squire was a great player. Hard to believe one bad video could stop the man at the top of his game.
Man, I regret showing up late for Billy Squier opening for The Who in the Astrodome back then. Thanks, James, for the lesson and for reminding us how powerful Billy's riffs were.
love it, another great vid, another great tune.I always thought this was a very Led Zep inspired song but braking it down I hear a bit of a Townsend influence in their too.I remember Billy being a big hit until the pink parachute pants shimmy on the bed video, it was all over after that.He literally disappeared from Detroit radio for years after that.To bad because he was a great songwriter.I re-discovered him last year during the first lockdown so thanks again for this one.
Such a fun riff to play. Im not a huge Billy Squier fan but the intro to this song is awesome. He’s actually a great player. There’s a video on RUclips with him playing with Joe Bonamassa. Thanks for the lesson it was an easy learn with the way you broke down everything. Very cool! Thanks again brother!🍻🤙
i used to see billy squire having coffee and desert at this tiny little cafe on the Upper West Side, must have been in 1990s. Always got a kick out of seeing him in this rather frou-frou setting.
BROOOOO FINALLY YOU DID THIS SONG :D I've been subscribed since 2014, the good ole Privettricker days. I'm not as active of a subscriber as I nearly use to be back then, but I still check in every now and then. Glad to see you're doing better!
welcome back. I haven't played this one since I was a teenager. I agree, Billy was a great player. I saw him at the war memorial(is it still called that?) on the emotions in motion tour with Nazareth. I saw him again at SNL a couple years later and still have a couple of his picks somewhere. thanks for the flashback(s).
Sounds great and great instruction. Glad to see you playing again. My first time commenting but I've followed for a while and I always learn something to keep me going. Thanks!
I don't use tabs, I play by ear. That's the whole point of my channel. I'm trying to teach people how to figure things out for themselves, without relying on tabs (which are very often wrong).
seen Billly back in the 80s, was my 1st concert , he was great! awesome show! great riffs! he admits he screwed up and listened to the director making the" Rock me " video... killed his career. it's too bad he wrote some great songs.
Yeah Billy Squier doesn't get enough respect. Great guitar player, singer and exceptional songwriter. A rock radio staple all through the 80's and still today. Half dozen top albums and even some hit singles but Bon Jovi is in the Rock and Roll HOF. I will never understand the public.
Could not possibly been influenced by zep. That E sus not sure I could do that way w/1 finger, works for me with Middle/pointer/ring on that a/d/g to still be able to ring the b/e!
James is back! Missed you man!

The Led Zeppelin influence is strong with this song. Very strong. Presence era.
Omg, what a great concert tour this was in the 80's when he opened for Pat Benatar! Thanks for the lesson! Cheers!
I was there. Great stuff. Security took my buds from me in the middle of the show.
Yah, Billy Squire was from Wellesley Mass just a couple towns away east going towards Boston!
Bro, this is completely unexpected, so cool you drag out all this classic stuff that we wouldn't even think of
Squire is very underrated in my book. He has a very impressive body of work that stands up with the best. Saw him live a few years back and what a great show. Also never forget listening to everybody wants you my first day if high school.
Has well known guitars named after him.
Definitely Billy Squire’s best song. Love this, thanks for the lesson!
Billy Squier was/is a great riff writer!! Glad to see you’re back to it JJ!!!👍🏼🤘🏼
Definitely one of his best riffs before the 80's got to him
Oh is that what it was lol haha tru tho... he could rock it up
Yes, can’t think of the song, but he made a video where he was prancing around like a school girl. That was a career killer.
I found you and thought, great tunes to learn. Then I figured out we are same age. That explains it!
Man, I regret showing up late for Billy Squier opening for The Who in the Astrodome back then. Thanks, James, for the lesson and for reminding us how powerful Billy's riffs were.
I dont think many guys would admit too loud that they liked billy squire back then....but he rocked alot of house parties
Beautiful Traditional I love those 50’s necks.
The intro is basically a mix of Nobody’s Fault But Mine and Hey Joe!
Love Billy Squier....and this one of my favorite songs of that album. So many good songs. Thanks!
Yes! Squire! Happy times in my youth and underrated ever after.
I think this is the best lesson on this song.
Just may be the most perfect rock n roll song.

Great song. Have you ever thought about sharing how you get your sound for your lessons? Love the way that guitar sounds.

Always loved Billy's cover of Nobody's Fault by Mine. Wait, hold on.. being told this is an original called Lonely is the Night. Carry on!
I have learned a lot from you over the years. This is one that I had figured out on my own. I feel so good that I do it like you are showing.
Respect. Thankyou. Always
Good song choice...super fun to play! Don’t say no is a great record!
Great tune. Nice to see you back jamming

I like the little tease with the Tea For One intro
Such a class song ! Cheers for posting this one 🙂
This is awesome !!!!
I wanted to play guitar because of This stuff !
Welcome back!
glad you're back...great lesson...
‘You gotta be able to play that’. 😀
Your lessons are spot on and informative. I'd like to suggest having a small "tab" box to help.
I don't use tabs, I play by ear. That's the whole point of my channel. I'm trying to teach people how to figure things out for themselves, without relying on tabs (which are very often wrong).
Great song and lesson, always reminds me of the ocean by led zep
Good stuff
Hey James... keep on rockin
Welcome back. I learned this from you several years ago! Saw Billy in, what, 1985? With Jeanette!
he kicks ass
Great lesson

Nice! Glad you're back to 100% again.
I’m not. Not even close.
@@jamesjames9275 well, at least you are playing again, I appreciate your videos.
Welcome back.
I don't know what he did, but he definitely fell out of favor for a long time. Glad he's still at it
Keep working out jj. Cool song
Very helpful without all the mumbo jumbo. Lol . Even though I don't believe in luck, thx for saying that in the end. Peace 🙏👀👆
Thanks
A one winged JJ is just fine! Full recovery soon!
Alright, JJ is back at it!!!

Does anyone know what chord that suspension he does right after playing the A ( 3:27 ) is called?
Its basically adding a D triad with the F sharp on the d string .
World 🌎 wide,paris 🇫🇷 France, Florence Italy..berlin..
No Zeppelin influence whatsoever 😝. Great lesson! Thank you! (In Frampton voice)
Great job! loving the guitar tone! What amp are you using? Billy is such an underrated musician.
That's a Peavey Classic 50.
@@jamesjames9275 interesting!! Thought I saw the Marshall red light to your Marshall head on many videos.
Please tell us about pickups that you run in this particular guitar.
Bridge is Classic 57 Plus, neck is Classic 57.
Whenever I think of Billy all I can think of is the video.
It was very, very, unfortunate.
Shhhhh, don’t remind me .... 🤦🏻♂️. 😬
Never noticed the Zeppelin similarities until now . That's Schall !
Never realized how similar Lonely Is The Night and Boogie Chillin' are :D
