Could you please do a video for an elderly senior? My grandmother is in her 90s with pretty bad arthritis. I'd like to pamper her. She'd probably be up for something like this service! Thank you! ❤
Honestly the service would be exactly the same. Except she wouldn’t have as much dirt and her hands would be smaller. Other than that, the procedure is exactly the same. Oh, and she might want nail polish at the end and they usually want a pink rose or a soft purple
@@NailCareerEducation is there anything different you do for the loose skin a lot of elderly people have? it could be good to have an elderly client on the show just for visibility. not a lot of elderly people in the beauty space.
@@rin-eriI work in assisted living, and I'd say the only thing you'd do different is to go easy on the exfoliating and the hand massage. The skin really thins out with age and can tear relatively easily, but a gentle hand massage using plenty of warm lotion or oil is usually something my residents thoroughly enjoy!
If you are able, including the parafin wax treatment really would be awesome. My Dad had Rheumatoid Arthritis, and that was probably his favourite part of physical therapy. Plus, I know in the Assisted Living Facility in our home town, they always offered the parafin wax treatment to the residents.

I do my social service in a geriatric center and i often do nanas mani, i just use less coarse files around her cuticles, DONT USE NIPPERS, never is so easy to damage their skin, but i do push the cuticles a little with help of handcreams. And i put them normal polish since theyre more sensitive for gel. I recommend pastel colors or bold ones like cherry red, mauve and brown, some nanas like their nails dark.

This was such an adorable video! He's one of my favorite guests! I just love how he's this big burly construction guy, but yet he's so calm, timid, sweet, and ridiculously patient! You can tell all of this stuff was extremely foreign to him, but he was such a good sport about it! 😂😂😂

You were like a school girl with a crush over his hands! lol. It was so cute to watch! I know this isn’t your normal type of customer or service so I can completely see why! He was a great sport as well and I’m sure his wife will greatly appreciate his softer hands.

@@NailCareerEducation I can see how it would be fun to do. Especially something you don’t normally do on a regular basis would mix things up a little and also makes great content! Have a man like this have a manicure shows others that’s it’s a perfectly acceptable, normal and enjoyable thing to do. People that are rough on their hands working in trades can really benefit from it. It was fun watching you have fun!

My favourite "low budget" exfoliant is just a small bit of sugar, and some type of oil. I tfeels so, so good, is always available, and takes off the dry skin, so that after washing, my hands are ready to soak in the moisturizer! it is such a treat!

Use a paraffin bath for arthritis. Felt glorious, relieved pain, and left them soft as a y skin.

I was struggling to convince my boyfriend that lip balm and hand or face cream is OK to use. Actually, I tried to do a manicure for him once but he didn't like it😂

I dated a guy with a woodworking hobby and he was always embarrassed about his dry hands, rough nails, and hangnails at work. I finally got him to let me do hand treatments for him and he LOVED it. I'm sure that is what he missed after we broke up. :D
I have a friend who is one dapper dan. He did his nails with a clear nail polish but if he did a mat finish it would be perfect for a working man. But my friend has gorgious hands

I had the same issue of cracking and bleeding hands. I use quarter neosporin +pain relief and the rest vasaline deep moisture! I get anti infection and a moisturized hands and they sting for a bit but once it calms down it feels so good to have less/no pain!

i used to wash my hands in my uncles shop as a kid specifically to use his Gojo hand cleaner. I've always loved the smell & the feeling of the pumice.

I love this. My husband lays flooring. His hands are very porous and calloused. Especially when he works with laying tile. I think he would let me give him a manicure.

For the paraffin, could you apply lotion first to help add more moisture to the skin, or would that just contaminate the rest of the paraffin ?

(And no, for those who would like to diagnose me with cancer, it's not melanoma, it was red and turned brown, it's just on the free edge of the natural nail.😅)

I occasionally give my roommate what I call the "drowned rat treatment". His hair, face and hands get done at the kitchen sink. His feet get done with him sitting in a chair with me sitting on the floor (more comfortable for me). I use a custom or rather Frankenstein blend of shampoo and conditioner mix for his hair, face gets noxema cleansing cream, hands and feet get a mix of noxema cleansing cream and an epsom salt scrub.
The nails on hands and feet get clipped and filed.
By the time my roommate has his hair and face cleaned up he frequently tells me that he feels like a semi drowned rat.
