In this video we tie up some loose ends on the slammed sierra. We start with the temperature and compass mirror install. This is a pretty easy install and makes the truck look nice. If you have a silverado or sierra and want to install a compass/temp mirror, this is how to do it. This really only covers the 1999-2002 models. Newer ones are wired a little different. I have had the stuff setting around for a while and wanted to get this completed. Next, after installing the power windows and locks I wasn't happy with the fitment of the switches. I wanted to draw them in more to make it look better. These are clip only so I had to use a ziptie and drill a few holes to make it fit like I wanted. It is nice to finally get a few small things done that I have been wanting to do. Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

That door switch bezel being loose would drive me insane as well!

On my 01 silverado i wired them up to come on when you open the door. What i did is you find the ground wire that triggers when you open the door and it will come on the wire is located in the same area . On those trucks there's constant power and the ground is the trigger.
May have to do that someday
@Miguel Maciel Thanks, I will wire up my 2000 overhead console so they will come on when you open the door. Took me a while to figure that the ground was the trigger wire when I added the door mirrors with the signal, defrost and puddle lights last year, blew a bunch of 15 amp fuses for the dome light to get the the puddle light to work correctly🤦. ✌🏻
When I hooked up my puddle lights on my silverado I hooked it up to my door panel light it worked perfect.
@@macielandsons that's where I hooked mine up, just had the wires crossed. The 2000 model was not pinned or wired for those type of mirrors, at least mine wasn't. To get the heated mirrors to work I installed a climate control with the rear defroster button and a relay for the rear window defroster in the fuse box under the hood which was already pinned for it. Next project is electric seats and change from cloth to leather! I'm retired and love to tinker with stuff. Just got my grandson a Black 2003 Ford Ranger Edge Stepside with 60 thousand something miles and he's keeping us busy with mods he wants to add🥵. Lol. ✌🏻
Really like your videos Travis! If you want to fix your door properly, you need to replace the armrest. There's a slot at the forward end where the switch panel meets up. Years of rough pulling on the inside door handle to close the door has a tendency to cause the slot to break. I had to fix my passenger door a couple years back after finding a used armrest on ebay. New ones aren't cheap! Best of luck.

Another great video. Not many options left, that is a fully load truck now! Now that you say that my 03 overhead console lights come on and my 00 doesn't when you open the doors or lock and unlock them. Keep up the mods might give me some ideas to add to my 2000. ✌🏻

Wtf I barely noticed that i wasn’t subscribed after following your builds since September…I actually needed someone to post a video of the mirror I have it installed without the temp sensor
Lol. It happens.
I did the same mirror install in my 07c. It's a similar process except I actually had to swap the box as you call it WT didn't have any pins for the temp sensor. 03 up all have power to the mirror so they just plug in and have a compass. They have a 14 pin connector but it's the same idea Then Just add the 2 temp wires and swap the box. Also 03 ups don't have a bracket for the sensor they just push into a hole in the rad saport. All you need is the cover for the wires going to the mirror and it will look complete.

there is one more wire for the rearview mirror that gets plugged into the back up light circuit so it will lighten up when you shift into reverse.
Mine brightens up in the day time.
I noticed that on 99-02 trucks the center console lights never come on with the other lights when you open the doors.. but on 03-07 they do

That is correct on my 01 suburban
Another thing... I just replaced the headiner in my 06 Sierra with one from an 02 Silverado. The original small overhead console dome lights came on when opening the door but the replacement long overhead console dome lights from the 02 do not. I'm not sure I care though. 🤔

So Travis my stock 01 Suburban OC has been on in my mirror for many many years. How would you trouble shoot it. Also not related I’m thinking all my interior lights stopped working. Looked for a fuse as an issue but couldn’t find one blown. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and you are doing the things that are really helpful

Hey @TWAMotorsports I been thinking about how you said if ever you would sell your truck and get a newer truck with the updated electronics. We'll my first truck is a 2002 silverado, and I really loved the 2003 - 2006 silverado look so I cateye swapped my truck. But the problem now is I wish I had the updated electronics too. I don't have much knowledge on these trucks. Most of it is from you, but have you ever considered buying a newer parts truck and swapping all of the electronics over? I would think the hardest part would be the dash, and you have already proven that it can easily be done so you think it be possible to swap all the electronics over because I don't want to get rid of my first truck just for some fancy ac controls.

My 06 mirror compass is working but temp says OC and I can’t find a sensor or wires
May be missing or prior front collision
@@TWAMotorsports I added the sensor but it’s reading 30 degrees warmer than what it really is. I used 18 gauge wire because that’s all I had. Could it be the wire?

I have the same problem. I’m assuming the owner before me bought the upgraded mirror for the 03-06 and did not add a temp. sensor so I am getting the OC message.
