The Grammys have an entire section of rock. Also, there’s not enough voters voting for rock so that’s why there’s not been a rock song winning Song of the Year since 2009.
I would be interested to what point rock album was in the main show and then be put into the pre show. (latin, rap, pop and country were in the main show in 2025)

5:43 I can't help but think this was a politically motivated decision on behalf of the Academy. Regardless of the social climate then, nobody will listen to it in 10, 20, or 30 years. Or even now. While I wouldn't call it a "bad pick", it hasn't aged perfectly.
Ok so let me explain. Since it was released after august, the cut off date, it means the year was 1 off. And grammies are always a year after they happened, so for example, if a song was made in 2022 then it would win its grammy in 2023
@@LWsquidward - or late 2022, where it held on throughout 2023, then wins in 2024. It's kinda messed up like, "My Heart Will Go On" was from the late 1997 movie "Titanic", stayed on the charts and in popular culture for much of 1998, and then it becomes song of the year in their 1999 award show... They air every February so the year wasn't even fully defined by then, so it was really a "best of 1998 (and some 1997)" event, following the ways of every other year.
Was there some rule back then that all the songs had to be mellow ballads?
That was before Nick Cave came in
Some of those ballads did deserve it (Every Breath You Take, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Killing Me Softly)
@@sirswanky8686 I've never considered Every Breath You Take a ballad (more mid-tempo).
I guess they wanted to go for "Oscar-Classy" and not the stuff of all the "riff-raff".
I see a lack of David Bowie and Pink Floyd

I agree with Pink Floyd
Beatles were robbed
For real, but the Grammys were more into Jazz and Classical back in the 60s
Yeah why Michelle out of all their songs ??
@@olizalzeortolan8322 apparently it was their classiest song by that time, French lyrics, folk sounding
In 2025? No. Kendrick deserved it

It seems the people over at the Grammys haven't got the memo about this one genre called 'rock'

When are you gonna do another Every song from lowest to highest rated video? And another 25 most played songs live video would be great too.
