    Thanks for posting. Very informative. I also felt that there was too much rotation required from idle to wide open. The accessory black cam was also included with my 2022 EXC-F 500 so this should apply to them as well. Regards.

    Have you seen the threaded inserts for the handlebars? You use them with your bar end handguards. You basically tap your handlebars and loctite a threaded insert which has external threads for installation in the handlebar and internal threads that match the bolt that goes through the handguard bar. The benefit is these inserts get rid of the expansion style bolt and secure the handguard tighter (especially in a crash). There's several companies that make these - Fastway, Bulletproof Designs, Highway Dirtbikes, etc. I have a set of them myself, they seem to hold a lot better. May be worth checking out if you haven't already.

      Yes, I plan to make some inserts and fit them soon. Once done I'll make a video on the hand guards. Pleased with them so far...

    especially with the newer '19' XCF 4 strokes, best to first experiment with the cheaper black or grey Cams and Maps before changing any sprocket gearing.
    Recently acquired the '19' 250xcf, and with the OEM extended swing arm by 5mm, it allows for the 53t (stock is 13/50) rear sprocket to now be fit with the 118 link chain (oem is 116 links). With the Black Cam and 53t rear, the little thumper is now as peppy as my 250xcw, and still does 80+ in 6th. With a fresh MotoZ Arena Hybrid rear, roll-on 2nd/3rd gear wheelies are easy even with the mellower Map 1, haven't tried the Grey Cam yet.

    Is this the same for the TBI bikes? Does the xcw come with both cams now? The xc has a quicker cam stock I think.

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  2 месяца назад

      My 2024 TBI came fitted with the grey cam ad a huge white cam with the the other parts. I'm using the black cam (wasn't included with the bike, but is included with the KTM ODI grip set).

    So essentially this does the same as a g2 throttle tamer....my 300xc tpi can be a handful I already have the grey mellow one on ..do you know it the g2 tamer comes with cams that are even more mellow than stock grey?? Worth spending $70 on a g2??

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  3 года назад

      My recommendation is to contact G2 and ask. You might also try contacting ODI as they offer quite a broad range of cams (reasonable pricing) and may have a different one which is tamer.

    is your freeplay adjusted correctly?Doesn't seem like there is any free play,might want to look into that maybe

    • @TokyoOffroad

      Yes, I have some freeplay in the throttle. I personally don't like a lot of freeplay though so always adjust it to the minimum of the spec (3mm).

    I’m obviously cramming on your videos now with my new bike... so I just changed from the Grey to Black throttle Cam and I have lined everything up and reinstalled no issue, but I have a question: why do those marks need to be lined up? It can’t have any effect on the throttle response because it will align based on the cable ferrule. I can only think it’s to do with the grip position if they have an offset pattern. Please enlighten this troubled soul!

    • @JoshuaPfenning
      @JoshuaPfenning 4 года назад +1

      No affect on throttle control or response, just for the grip pattern.

    Is it possible to mount 2017 single cable throttle twist casing?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  2 года назад +1

      Yes, some people simply remove the return cable and block off the holes. This results in a slightly lighter throttle pull.

    How are you liking the bike without the steering stabilizer?..I recently rode a 300 TPI without one and it felt "loose" compared to my Scott's equipped 300 XCW..Do you feel there's no difference to controlling the bike?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  5 лет назад +2

      I prefer riding with a Scott’s stabilizer and will be installing one on the 250 TPI. It’s on the list of things to do. With a stabilizer mounted I find I can ride more relaxed and have far fewer unexpected dismounts...

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  3 года назад

      If you buy a new set of KTM OEM ODI grips they come both the grey and black throttle cams. The part number for black/orange grips with open ends for wrap around handguards is 79002923000

      @@TokyoOffroad thanks, really appreciate the reply. I'll get some ordered. Haven't had the bike long but the throttle pull is my least favourite thing about it. Miss how snappy the carb throttle action was .
      Have you spoken to anyone who has done the slavens single cable mod?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  3 года назад

      @@danielwardman2399 - The single cable mod will lighten the throttle pull, but won’t change the throttle response. If you like a snappier feel you certainly prefer the black throttle cam. Also recommend performing the idle screw mod which will allow you to adjust the air screw and throttle stop (idle) independently and may result in better performance off the bottom: ruclips.net/video/TLzicMxsBWs/видео.html

    Do you know if odi makes a more aggressive cam for a 18 300xc ?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  4 года назад

      Sorry but I haven't looked into using a different cam as I like the black cam. My suggestion is to contact ODI and ask them if they have one more aggressive than the black stock cam.

    How did you cut such nice holes on the ODI grips?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  5 лет назад +2

      William Colantoni - You can buy ODI grips precut. But to make holes myself on regular ones I use a compressed air die grinder with a carbide bit. It makes very nice holes.
