Something i've always wondered about but never got round to googling is what's the difference between a monitor speaker in a studio and a set of speakers we have at home 🤔
Monitors are usually are of a quality that could be used for studio work, and will normally have a nice flat frequency response, as to not colour the recording .. also, companies use the word 'monitor' in some cases, purely to try an get sales from the pro music sector and also to make their products more professional sounding. Purposely build studio monitors that are sold in pro music shops, solely for monitoring purposes and usually active these days , so can be used directly from the mixing desk or Dj mixer.
