Great upgrade, and great that it is almost plug-n-play. With that, it would be awesome if Traxxas released a version for all of us who round-file the TQ system as soon as the rig is out of the box. Thanks for sharing!
Adjust the drag brake to a lower setting, the motor should cool off...they said the same thing about the Rushmore 1/18. That's because from the factory the drag brake setting was set at 100% for the Rushmore...I lowered mine to 25% and the drag brake was working just fine and no overheating at all for the Venom motor in the Rushmore.
There really is no maint. on a brushless motor. Bearing failure is the main problem. Don't run it the in water so the bearings don't rust and put a fan on it.
What i like about the furitek system is the Bluetooth for adjusting your esc.i have the motor temp on mine set to shut down at 158 degrees f.also,I run 3s in mine and it has never shut down yet!
I upgraded the TRX4M defender to the Furitek outrunner set with the low crawling gears and it is Amazing! The only downside is, that the scale lights don't work. But the slow crawl is sooooooo mucb better with the sensored brushless system. Well worth it.
i tested it myself, but i was not very satisfied with this Brushless System on Stock Gearing. Mine was not a lot better in slow speed control and was too fast. I installed the low speed gears. And wow, thats a huuuge difference. Now it can go super super slow when i want and extremly controllable. And its a bit faster as the stock system with the low speed crawl gears. Just with the stock gearing it was not a lot better as the stock combo. I cant explain why, but this was my testing.
Great vid. Looks like I will be purchasing this system. Just a thought, get rid of that dopey rubber strap for the batteries. Install Velcro on batt & tray...
Cow R/C has nothing to do with what im saying but... i use a rounded cow magnet to find screws. It works great for me. Electronics like motors can reach and sustain temps above 200f... like a car engine.
enjoyed the video... while I like the plug and play install of that system... excluding furitek, there are cheaper brushless upgrades to be had. Injora, hobbywing and even fms has a brushless system for half the money. Cheap enough to include a tx/rx upgrade like a flysky gt5. Again this was a nice well documented install. (fyi I keep a magnet to sweep for lost screws!) I have noticed my outrunner motors getting hotter and I wonder if it is due to the extended slow crawl and use of the brake to control downhill runs. I have not seen the same sort of heat buildup while doing speed comparisons. Maybe spinning at full speed gives the motor some cooling.
They do get very very hot when crawling very slow using the foc but when out on a normal casual crawl it stays cool.It may be an issue if one constantly crawled like a caterpillar though.Mine installed in a trx4m high trail has been fine since with no issues and that’s with a mix of very slow to normal to high speed bashing and that’s with the traxxas two speed tranny also.
Great video, I'm curious to see if you have any problems with the system. We have been having problems at low speed both of my systems do the same not sure what's going on with it
I wouldn't recommend this kit strictly based on how hot the motor gets, and how quickly it gets hot. Doesn't matter which mode you are in neither. I'm also running the crawler gears, which should put less resistance on the motor, meaning it shouldn't run as hot. After 2 to 3 minutes of slow crawling, the motor is already too hot for my likings, plus the FOC starts kicking out more often, and leaving longer dead spots the hotter it gets. At least I know to shut it down so it can cool when this happens. Kinda takes the fun out of it having to let it cool down after a few minutes of run time. In my opinion, Traxxas should have never released this kit the way it is, especially for the cost.
Just getting back into the hobby, and I have ended up with a couple of TRX4 full size rigs. Do you have a video of a brushless motor install on the 1/10 TRX4?
I like the Furitek system over the traxxas system… but reatiaining the light kits the only plus to it and I believe the esc is waterproof not sure about the motor… I have cogging with my trail gears in my bronco with weight still clunky and lurchy .. pretty disappointing system for the price

Nice very cool u definitely see the difference in crawling from brushed to the brushless setup and 👍 on raising money for the kids ....

I was wondering about this set up. Now that I know, I'm going to get one for my Branco as well. Thanks for the informative video!
I did the Injora motor and transmission on mine with other upgrades. Brushless is a definite upgrade. Great video.
Might dust mine off now. Didn't like it brushed. Found it to be far too small a motor.
Awesome , same thing that Hobbywing been doing with 1/10 scale trucks . Well worth the money as it makes the rc much more fun to drive 👍
Definitely upgrade the TRX4M................to the new HPI Venture Toyota
Great review!👏 Your video made it so clear why brushless is the way to go. Can you suggest any tips for maintaining this new system for the long haul?
There really is no maint. on a brushless motor. Bearing failure is the main problem. Don't run it the in water so the bearings don't rust and put a fan on it.
Informative and fun 👌👍

I think those crap battery's that come with them may be why they got so hot?
Also they may be geared to high.
@@MrGsxr10001 i have noticed that the drag brake really creates the most heat, probably because it's pumping voltage to a motor that's not turning.

Yeah I've liked the furitek systems too! 🤙🏼

Nice update! 👍🏻
This is the coolest thing since sliced bread!
Got 2 speed trans brushed. Like it .
Amazing video! Great job
Genial el vídeo me encanta este bronco gracias por estos vídeos 👌😍

One perk of staying with Traxxas is that it'll be compatible with all the light kits.

good to hear!

Great video girl! Thank you!
Well Done!
I swear there is something living under my workbench that grabs every screw I drop!
UGH! i know. So luckily the screw I dropped was not one that was re-used in the install. THANK GOD! lol
I figured that out after looking for 15 minutes lol
Please can you do a video on the model h2rs that have been going viral recently,i want to know if they actually work or are a scam

Yeah i put a hobbywing fusion 2-in-1 in my original TRX4. ruclips.net/video/VruVPvRpaFw/видео.html
@ thanks. I am gonna watch your video then probably do the same thing. 👍
Traxxas should make It with a brushless system
Cada día que pasa estoy más enganchado de traxxas tengo 4 un defender, bronco, trx sport y un xmaxx fiel a traxxas
A friend of mine has one of these systems. His gets very hot too. He did contact Traxxas and they said that this is normal? Thoughts?
Put fan on, makes all the diff.
Also lower gears will help with heat.
Been looking at this since it came out, I really want to get this & get it in my TRX4M Bronco. 🤔
Probably the best performance upgrade you can do for the TRX4m if you're using it mostly for slow crawling.
@@RCGirl that's the mission!
Will 2 speed work with brushless. Got same light . Too bright. Installed yellow tape inside. Painted the led lights yellow
Yeah the 2-speed will work
How are the plastic transmission gears doing? Some have reported the brass gear on the new motor tears up the plastic gears
i'll have to report back!
@RCGirl we would definitely appreciate your findings! I bought one, but not sure if I want to try it in the standard or 2 speed transmission.
How hot does yours get when crawling slowly ? Mine gets boiling hot.
Put a fan on, makes all the diff.
Also lower gears will help with heat.

I feel that with brushless you also need metal gears and bearings.
DId you have crawl gears in this already? Or was this stock gearing?
stock gearing in trail mode
@@RCGirlthanks!
💐💐💐💐
I also have experienced the heat in my motor it seems to cool down quickly. Thanks for the content
Good to know!!
Just to tell you are a cutie ❤❤
Don’t worry, you’ll find the screw permanently embedded into the bottom of your foot when you walk in the room without shoes.
LOL!
Nitro is better ⛽️😜😀
these traxxas connectors 😭
Do you play a guitar? Left hand fingertips. Lol😅
@@edwincordero8 haha yeah I've started to get my calluses back over the last few months
@RCGirl That's good. Versatile girl. Keep up.
It brushless system is very HOT..during drive…
Warning to drive….
Very suck system…
Friends don't let Friends buy traxxas or rtr branded electronics.
Chill bro
