Wouldn't some cities give you a problem for hang the planter boxes on the outside of the wall? Especially ones where you get snow in the winter and the cities plow the sidewalks.
I was convinced this was the solution for my concrete deck. I went to IKEA and bought their Runnen tiles. They are made of a very cheap wood in Vietnam. They won't last a season. Ipe wood is much harder but it's still wood and will need to be stained/treated annually. Best solution is Trex or another brand of composite tiles that are maintenance free. Also those plastic frames creak when you walk on them.
beautiful please try to stop the spread of Zika. think about using planter mosquito skirts for the water trays. trays under the planters save the deck and patios
I would hate living that close to a busy street and I would hate having a patio right beside it even more. However, the thing I would hate the most is living in San Francisco.
“The deck tiles make a comfortable sleeping surface for the transients and panhandlers in the neighborhood... and here’s the benefit, the plastic base allows for urine runoff so it doesn’t pool on your patio. Isn’t that great? I’m going to plant some fragrant flowers here... and here... to mask the human waste smell as well. So, you ready to get started?”
You can get similar tiles at Ikea or Bed, Bath & Beyond that aren't as expensive. My aunt actually bought some and put them in her shower floor, instead of replacing her shower tile.
That's what i was thinking....nothing was done with the little strip of concrete to wall soil edge....ripe for weeds again....He should have dug out soil then laid in plastic sheathing with gravel on top...at minimum. Oh, well a little poured gasoline every year on the strip of weeds will kill it for a season. I think the plastic walkway might be good for 5 to 7 years...before it starts breaking apart and discoloring. Nothing permanent there. Someone's going to be walking outside and hurt their ankles on those low hung boxes...I'd fear the liability of pedestrians. All looks good for a little while.
You know that's expensive as hell. Love that full metal gate right next to a short fence that anybody could easily climb over. Everything gets stolen within a week.
5:37 ... Drove it in so fast, he spun it in the hole... I like how when they do accidents like that how they hurry up and cut the scene and on to the next one lol
Personally I would have removed that huge gate and replace it with a smaller one. The security feature of a gate so large really gets lost in the fact that literally anyone can simply step up and over that surrounding fence.
Many mentions of San Fran Cisco. Hopefully Canadians know better than to try this hack. It is going to get awful within months. Full of dirt and thank GOODNESS she can pull it up by herself.
Really ! A homeowner spends all that money on a patio project like that ,and your not encouraged by the contractor to spend a little more money ,and raise the gate a few inches and lay the tiles over the entire patio area for a more professional look. When the gate is closed, who the hell wants to look at a large concrete pad! Greetings from Cincy Ohio U.S.A.
What is wrong with the Cement patio? it had a nice patina to it. I always say. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The panels don't look like they belong in the city.
@@dancooper6002 what was wrong with the concrete?? Pressure wash it, remove the leaves, add the plants and you would have gotten the same result without having to add a bunch of plastic from China!

That is very pretty when its finished but holy flipping fuck waffles is it expensive. $25-$35/sq ft. Meaning that lil patio which is approximately 100 sq ft is $3500.00...

To begin, that tile is totally a color clash. Doesn't belong. Why did you need to pay someone to show you this unprofessional DIY hack? ? Also is going the be a royal pain to clean under. Saw some in a restaurant patio. Disgusting dirt beneath it.
Those planter boxes will make for a perfect ashtray as pedestrians walk by.
I do find myself wondering what will happen to those planter boxes: ashtray, dump for empty nip bottles, etc...
