    The boys are fishing in an area they have both heavily fished in years gone by. Both Nathan and Milan haven’t fished the area in over 2 years. This particular part of the Bay Of Plenty is about to become a marine reserve and the boys are super keen to fish it just one more time before it’s locked down to fishing. The dream is to land one last jumbo King Fish for old time's sake. Excitement levels start peaking as multiple schools of Kahawai come to the surface to feed late in the afternoon. Topwater lures are cast around the schools of feeding Kahawai trying to provoke a bite from New Zealand’s yellowtail King Fish.
    Welcome to The Lateral Line Show starring Milan Radonich and Nathan O’Hearn, two best mates exploring the wild and hidden pathways of NZ chasing trophy kingfish and gigantic snapper in shallow waters.
    The Lateral Line is an Online TV show all about teaching you the knowledge & techniques to catch trophy fish in shallow water.,
    Subscribe to this channel to keep up with the internet's best in kingfish and snapper fishing while Milan and Nato are having the best time of their lives on Sojourn.

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    Another fantastic show guys although I'm a little concerned regarding that particular fishing ground being closed down. I live in Australia and there have been a number of attempts in NSW to stop recreational fishing under the guise of "marine conservation parks" when all the time these are calls by Greens who simply oppose any form of recreational fishing no matter where. I hope that's not the case there in NZ because the facts are the majority of recreational fishers do more to preserve the fisheries than harm them.

    • @truthbetold2012

      tighter rec size, bag and boat limits would be much better for the fish and fishers...things have changed a lot with lure fishing the flatties are copping a flogging from plastics... modern fishing techniques have no doubt made it easier for old mate to get a few more in the box there are more plastic tossers nowadays... everyone has a leccy and old man kayaker is everywhere everyday smacking a few for the plate....catch and release is strong with the sport guys but the weekend warriors are catching limits these days... the flatties are being slain...I fish Tuross lake which has been net free for a long long time it gets hammered everyday by old man flatty hunter... its getting harder and harder to catch flatties between 40 and 75cm...when plakkies first came in early 2000s we would bang 30 fish no worries now you would work hard for 5 legal fish...while we do try to preserve and respect the waterways we don't notice all the other guys on the water when we are not...when I started fishing softies back in 2001 no one had a leccy no one was fishing lures you would rarely see a boat on a week day come 2021 and everyday theres 5 or more boats on the prowl plus the yaks...IDK how marine parks will work when pressure is moved from one spot to another?...we need an overhaul of limits and size...no boat should have more than 5 fish and no person should have more than 2 fish for tea IMO

      I’m not 100% sure what the best answer is if I’m honest????? I do know that entire area had more fish with just Astrolabe shut down after the Arena (container ship) hit that wash rock and spilled a heap of oil. I wish they had just left that one reef closed as that feed all the others. Anyway time will tell…… thanks for watching men 😁👍😎

      Well said Matt D, however there is another bitter pill to swallow. I fish around Bateman Bay, outside as well as the Clyde. Marine parks have pretty well closed off ALL of the kingie reefs. And to rub salt into the wound , pro fishers relaying record amount of fish traps throughout the general marine park, effectively decimating the snapper stock. Ditto with the Clyde river , truck loads of bream trapped. Hope Kiwi fisheries truly have rec fishos at heart, here in NSW DPI is just a reticent mouth piece for the pros

      @@philfishes7527 How ya going' Phil...Ben here...didn't know they were still dropping king traps in the yellow zones haven't seen one in close since they closed off the inshore king spots....agree on those bream traps in the Clyde I've towed em deep, cut open and cut ropes of at least 40 of em'..see them in the racks every year always open em and let the bream out...the caped crusader!...the bloke who traps destroyed the little island area...used to have a blast on the rock bars up there but the last 3 years have been really tough his traps are always in the spots... the EPs are plague these days and good bream are still around th leases but the oyster farmers changing to floating racks has pushed em away from the racks IDK if its the traps or the new racks that changed the numbers... .not sure about the snap's in close Phil I'm still banging' em at Durras.

    • @TheLateralLine
      @TheLateralLine  8 месяцев назад +1

      Chur chur 😎 a big king fish has the ability to scream line off a 6000 sized reel! So, if there is fowl ground close by and that fish doesn’t want to be caught you won’t catch it 🤪 but if there is no fowl ground around you are in with a chance 👍 good luck brother 😎

    sad to hear they are taking the water we had the same happen here in SE Australia... I've fished it for the past 15 years on the sly and funnily enough nothing has changed!...these reserves are a load of BS IMO obviously the commercial aspect is the real concern the rec aspect is a non issue that these experts don't have a clue about...they don't talk and they don't do any real science....rec C&R should be part of these reserves...what we need is a total overhaul of bag and boat limits to reflect changes in techniques and numbers on the water...this would be far better than taping off bits of water...like I said our marine park has been locked up for 15 years and the fishing in these no take zones has not changed a bit I fish it all the time...interesting your moon theory... I've always found my best sessions are when moon is in the sky....another good video...good job guys.

    • @jimjim773
      @jimjim773 3 года назад +1

      yeah bro totally agree, cutting off zones puts more pressure on the still fishable zones. If only the rec fishos had more say but i guess its just part of our lives now 👍

    • @truthbetold2012
      @truthbetold2012 3 года назад

      @@jimjim773 yep and fish swim they don't read the maps...no doubt it's part of our lives here... every election the 'marine park' is used to gather coastal votes just like climate change its a tool for politicians to leg up... it also divided the eco voters from the fishing/diving voters...they bring it out every election and make promises about possible changes but nothing ever happens.

    • @TheLateralLine
      @TheLateralLine  3 года назад +2

      I’m not 100% sure what the best answer is men🤔 and there is endless “behind the scenes” stuff going on…….. time will tell I guess. I could have fun trying to catch fish in a puddle so it won’t stop us enjoying being out in the open trying to catch something to eat 😎😁👍 thanks for watching 😁

    • @truthbetold2012
      @truthbetold2012 3 года назад +1

      @@TheLateralLine can't argue with that but give an inch and they'll go for a mile...where I am they did zero science drew lines on a map and mobilised policing at our cost...they didn't talk to anyone locally about this except the eco stakeholders who have never used the areas and still don't....there are other ways to protect fish from over fishing bag and boat limits would protect more fish along a coastline than lock outs...from what I have seen these are political tools and were never about protection....rant over carry on!
