For the Cornwall’s Goons Duel:
When Arthur walks away, he was never retreating, he was just getting into position for the duel.
BRO DIDN'T REALIZE ARTHUR JUST KILLED 3 OF THE MOST LEGENDARY GUNSLINGERS AND TRIED TO DUEL HIM
That guy in Rhodes allways cracks me up.😂
Also that Valentine duel allways pops up after the ride with Uncle I go to a shop afther mission and bam there it is. I wish there were more duels. But yeah it's accurate there weren't so many duels as people believe in the Wild West.
Edit the drunk feller in Valentine was real lucky to pass out with me. You had it happen in Van Horn.
Yup, duels did happen but are romanticized for games and movies.
I’d rather have the van horn man pass out because dueling in the middle of Valentine is dope 😄
@@TheSchizoCowboy I don't know how popular the duels were, but it seems to me like Russian roulette, they played it like a game of chance but with more adrenaline...and blood
Hey man this is my first play through can you tell me when duels happen?
@@beelzebub1430 the first 4 are apart of a side mission, the noblest of men and a woman, the fifth one is chance encounter at the central union railroad in Roanoke Ridge, the sixth one is the first bounty you can do in strawberry and all of the other ones are random encounters that can happen at anytime when you are in those towns
@@TheSchizoCowboy you can start a duel anytime with a willing npc by holding R2
Honestly I think the Flaco duel was the best. Just amazing spaghetti western atmosphere in it.
How can it be the best one when he's jumping to the left while drawing? That's so unfair...I've played through the game a few times now and never managed to win that duel right away 😣
@@MattiK2609 it’s pretty easy tbh. Yeah Flaco cheats and it is what is 🗿

I like how emmet granger pulls out his knife by accident since he wasn't experienced in shooting guns.
Actually if you dont shoot he just rushes you with the knife or throws it.
@@SewingMink160 he just runs at you
No he throws it
He doesn’t pull the knife out accidentally. He was purposely pulling out the knife lol
Pretty sure he meant to grab out his knife
I always go in this order Emmet Granger Billy midnight black Belle and Falco Hernandez and Jim boy Calloway😅
I go Granger, Midnight, Flaco, Black Belle and of course, Calloway
Me2 Jalonnie White. I kill Flaco in chapter 4 after Eagle Flies mission.
Me too! I just did these missions for the first time the other day, i tried not to kill them when i had the chance but you can really only not kill granger because you can knock him out. I don't even know how the last part ends all i know is i can only finish the mission after like chapter 3 or something
I go flaco billy midnight granger black belle and jim boy calloway
@@TheSchizoCowboy flaco, Emmet, Billy then black belle, literally just ride the train to belle
I had no idea Flaco's gang could be spared the shootout, damn I feel like shit now
6:59 "Sure, I'll shoot you. Wouldn't mind some practice." 😂 That line never fails to make me laugh!
The drunk guy In valentine always passes out for me 😂
It’s the guy in van horn for me most of the time 😂
The tabs for the guitar lick is open a, bend 3rd fret low e, open a
Thank you for this

I fking love billy midnights end. “You come for me?!? Come on!!”
Fun fact for the drunk fella: If you don't press R2 and just wait, he will just become unconscious from the whiskey xD
Only one of them does that
@@TheSchizoCowboy "oop grounds coming up reaaal fast" -drunk guy
Who else finds RDR2 duels so oddly satisfying? 😅
Good on you for not killing the drunk guy. We need more cowboys like mister morgan on the frontier these days.
Edit: i just seen the last drunk guy that was HILARIOUS 😂😂
I usually don’t disarm unless I’m forced to or if they are drunk
@@TheSchizoCowboy if you don't even try to draw he will just fall over in valentine
@@donutwastaken718 not always the case
@@TheSchizoCowboy I tried to disarm that guy from valentine recently actually, ended up missing my mark and was shot, lost 10$ too after I died
I really wish there were more of these, Revolver had a semi-strange system, but a fun one, Redemption 2 was good, and it being randomized to potentially happen whenever you go through a town is the best part. 2 had my favorite system, but since you can do it whenever you want, I’m guessing that they didn’t feel the need to make as many.
Rdr2 has the worst duels in the entire red dead series
If I'd rank them I'd say
1) rdr1
2)Rd revolver
3)rdr2
I say this because of many reasons.
First reason is because of how little duels there actually are, there's like 11 or around that in total. You can't challenge any npc to a duel or have a random npc that isn't scripted and a one time occurance in the open world. This alone makes the duels worse than both revolver and rdr1, because both games had duels through out the whole game, yeah revolver is linear but the duels in that game were well placed through the entire game. And rdr1 had duels everywhere in the open world by being challenged by an npc which was affected by your fame, which made the fame system more effecting and interesting, and you could cheat at poker and be caught ofwhich your put into a duel out in the streets. So alone both revolver and rdr1s duels were way better placed and more than rdr2.
But that ain't the only reason, the duels themselves in rdr2 aren't nearly as visually interesting, nor have fun gameplay. Both revolver and rdr1 had unique gameplay for their duels, which forced you to focus and be engaged in the actions at all times. In rdr2, you can just simply draw and shoot, there's no focus on anything, it's way to easy and disengaging, you don't feel like you deserved that win in the duel because it was so easy and quick.
Red Dead Revolver and Rdr1s were very cinematic and memorable, rdr2s has no cinematic at all aside from the kill cam which isn't even a guarantee and still isn't as satisfying as the kill cam in revolvers were you got to see the bodies drop in slow motion at different angles for a long ass time to see your results.
While rdr1 doesn't have a kill cam, it more or less makes up for it with its long build up of suspense through long stares, camera angles and music.
And revolver also did this too which again made their duels more immersive and cinematic.
One thing I really like about Revolver that neither both games after did, was that you could duel against 2 or 3 men, which made them even more stressful, exciting and badass. You dueled against 2 armed men once, and 3 men twice. And plus you had abunch of single duels as well.
Basically what I'm saying is, rockstar really dropped the ball for their duels in rdr2. They lack almost all the basics that made duels memorable, badass and thrilling, and when you see that they did it so much better before just adds more salt on the wound.
(Seriously even aside from how bland, easy and short lived the duels are in rdr2, they're very rare and there's only 11 in the entire game, whoever decided at rockstar that this system was passable needs to be replaced. I get that some say its because Arthur doesn't wanna draw attention to him and the gang, but they could have put more duels into story missions and added chances of npcs to challenge you in the streets, or force you into a duel if your caught cheating at poker like rdr1. They just didn't because they either didn't care, were lazy or just didn't focus on it. Despite the fact that duels and showdowns are the most iconic myths of the wild west genre)
@@jackbluehq6653 I can definitely understand that, I personally really like the ability to shoot just once rather than completely unload, and it’s ability to be done in the open world whenever is fun, but it just pales in comparison.
On a semi related note, if you enjoy western games and dueling, I’d recommend Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, a story based western game with cinematic duels that I think beat the Red Dead games. With needing to steady your aim on the person for accuracy, and steady your hand for speed. As well as bullet dodging. Great game!
@Purps eat Peeps I've played 2 call of juarez games, the second one has abysmal dueling system and the first isn't the worst but still was pretty bad.
I heard gunslinger was better and it looks more interesting than the others.
I'll try and see if I can get in on the xbox 360 and I'll see if I prefer the dueling more in that game than both revolver and rdr1.
Also on a side note, you don't have to unload your entire gun in rdr1 and also revolver in some cases.
In rdr1 you can press square or X after shooting which stops John from firing anymore bullets, and if your good enough you can fire a single shot at the head If you fill the metre enough with just one bullet
And in revolver, for alot of the duels you can just fire one shot to kill one to three opponents by hitting a critical hit at the head. Infact the only ones I've never been able to kill in one shot was Mr Kelley, the Governor and another in the Governors mansion that I forgot who sits in a chair.
But the rest you can one shot in the head as long as you focus.
@@jackbluehq6653 You actually can challenge random npcs to a duel, just antagonize a tough guy with a gun and gently hold rt it’ll automatically initiate a duel and the other guy will try to draw
@iraniscool8966 that's not a proper duel, the guy is just drawing in self defence. There's no agreements for both party's to a duel, its just going up to someone and drawing and shooting them, how is that a fair western duel?
Plus you just get wanted and a bounty on ya, the whole point of a duel is a fair fight which don't have any consequences (atleast for where the law is concerned) for the winner.
And again, that alone is only half the problem
The other half is the fact that the duels are so boring, easy and quick. There's nothing badass, memorable and thriling about them.
All rockstar had to do was add a challenge button when you antagonise someone, or have npcs challenge you, that would be a real fair duel and not just obvious sudden cold blooded murder and self defence, but nope they couldn't even do that.
Rule number one :
Don't bring a knife to a Gunfight
-Arthur Morgan
"Now Draw!"
"WHHYYY?!"
I wish we were able to initiate duels with anyone in the game. Dueling Sheriff Malloy would be fun.
Also, Jim “Boy” Calloway was legit. Had he been 20 years younger and not drunk, he would’ve dropped Arthur.
Sometimes the drunk man in Valentine could also fall as the one from Van Horn
Never bring a knife to a gun fight
I never new you could duel the drubk guy he always just flopped over and passed out for me
This is how i figured out my trigger was broken. I tried to duel a bounty and just get getting shot in the face over and over
That’s unfortunate 😕
Does nobody notice at 10:17 he shot the lady in the background 😂😂
I was waiting for someone to notice 😂
@@TheSchizoCowboy That’s her fault for being in the direction of a duel 🤷🏻
I wish I could explain to you in full detail how much of a nonfactor he is to me lol
I love the detail in the Jim Boy fight that proves that what Black Belle said about him was right. Calloway was a cheater and a coward. When you draw against him, he tries to flash his belt into your eyes as to distract you.
Granger brought a knife to a gunfight. Covered in shit nonetheless, man I've had bad days before but......😶
If someone like the gunslinger in van horn kills you can you challenge them again
The First one poops out knife in a gun duel
they are fun and i wish you could duel anyone (i tried to get the mod but the main mod script for running mods is deleted and i cant find a new ome
Doesn't the drunk valentine guy just fall by himself even before you draw
Sometimes yes, sometimes no
I believe it depends on weather or not you hold down the button. In my saves, when I was on edge and held down the button, he drew pretty fast. But I don’t think the game even motions for you to hold it down, as if you don’t, he’ll pass out.
@@purpseatpeeps8641 false, if you trigger the drunk man in van horn first you get to duel the guy in valentine

Out of this whole vid I only came across 3 of these duals wtf
Well, now you know all of them
The drunk guy in valentine passed out when i dueled him

Sorry i forgot the lore a bit. Billy Midnight? Even when he is drunk he is paranoid why actually?
Billy Midnight killed someone in his sleep and felt pretty bad about it and that’s why he’s so paranoid
In the train track one I shot the leader in the knees the others ran away😁
"DRAW I SAID DRAW GODDAMNIT" LMAO
No. YES!
The Cornwall trio- where do you find that one?
Central Union Railroad in Roanoke Ridge. Before the duel you’ll have to help the foreman with something else and wait a few days then go back to him
