It's wonderful to see young people, you two, so enjoying cross stitch! Hooray!! Not only that, but you have a RUclips channel as well! I know you set an example for the even younger generation of future stitchers! Yay! We always need that, and what a wonderful way to demonstrate how enjoyable it is! The fact you two do this together? GOLDEN!!!! I love the relationship you have together even though distance keeps you apart, you've found a way to still get together and share your love of this craft not only together but with us, as well! Thank you!
I had always wished my daughter got into cross stitch, she really needed a way to 'learn how' to calm down, we had our difficulties with ADHD and concentration levels. IF she had had you two back then, I know she'd be hooked today! So for the younger ones today who can only relate to younger people, you two are doing a fabulous job!!
As for older generations of people, you fit into any level and we love you two! You give us inspiration! Thank you!
I love seeing all the different designs you are making and your progress! This is the second video of yours I am watching, and I see your channel is definitely growing! Congrats!!! I look forward to more videos and I am a subscriber now as well! FlossTube is a NEW discovery for me, and I am addicted! I am finding patterns I'd love to stitch much better than just looking at catalogs or online. It excites me to see how things go, new patterns that get released and purchased, and older ones that are still popular!

I cross stitched in the 80’s when it seemed like everything was bears and geese, and everything was mauve and light blue. Then I took about a 35-year hiatus, and when I came back, HOLY COW!! The choices are endless and SO much better. I’m loving every stitch! Thanks for the inspiration. You two really make me miss my sainted mother, but in a good way. Enjoy every moment together! ❤ See you next time!

I’m 80 and have been crafting, cross-stitching, embroidering and paper crafting since I was 17. I just recently discovered flosstube and you are one of my top 3 channels 🥰 it’s so interesting to see how differently other people stitch! For instance, I have only ever worked on one x-stitch project at a time, start to finish. I don’t have a printer so I have only paper patterns, usually from 123-stitch. I prefer 18 ct Aida, 2 over 1 and always use a hoop. I often dye my own fabric. It’s been fun to watch everyone’s WIPs, since I don’t work that way. 🥰

I used to cross stitch on checked gingham when I was a child-1950s. I really got into it in the 80’s using Aida. Then babies starting coming one after another so crafting went away. I started quilting in the mid-90’s and that was my main needlecraft until recently. I got Covid in August 2022 and developed long-haulers which has restricted me from being able to sit in my sewing room as I used to. Sooooo, in Sept. 2022 I picked up cross stitch again. It is very recliner-friendly. Wow! The industry has changed so much. I love watching you girls because I also am an Aida girl. I’ve tried and I cannot manage linen. 16-count Aida is my jam. Keep up the great content. You two are just precious. P.S. Thanks for including the cloth info whenever you can. It is much appreciated. ❤

Wow, we are so glad you are still able to do some of your hobbies post Covid. Yeah for Aida stitchers! We love hearing that other people also love to use Aida because it is just as beautiful as linen! Thank you so much for your kind words, you are so sweet! We are trying to always include the cloth info, but if we forget once just comment and we'll be happy to provide it! Happy stitching!

I started cross stitching in the 80s but stopped after a few years. I picked it back up last summer after I retired and now that is all I want to do!! I had no idea there were so many people who shared the same passion. I soon discovered this thanks to floss tube!!! But I live, love, love your channel. Finally, someone who stitches on aida!!!! I sometimes feel like I am the only one who doesn't stitch on linen. I mean it is beautiful but I love the look of aida and that is all I have ever used. Please keep doing what you guys are doing!!!!

I picked up xstitch in the mid 80’s. Had a LOT of projects kitted, more of a collector than a doer, but have found some FFO’s from that time that I have hanging now on my walls. I moved in 2009, packed it all up, and didn’t revisit it until last year. Boy do I have a stash! I am sucked back in the rabbit hole. Collecting and kitting again, but I stitch most every day now, but still mostly a monogamous stitcher, never more than 2 projects going at a time, a big and a small. I also quilt and do wool appliqué, so my time is split up with those crafts too. I’m glad I found you two, I really enjoy listening and your stitching I beautiful.

I have been cross stitching for 43 years. My first project was done on 14 count with DMC thread, I stitched a 2 inch by 3 inch birth 'sampler' for our first child. The second project was also done on 14 count aida/dmc floss, but was 11" x 14"---I was addicted. I know there are beautiful linens and silk threads out there, but I'd rather spend my money on patterns. I have graduated to using 16, 18, and 20 count aida as it is easier on my eyes. I have begun framing my own pieces, making pillows of all sizes, and standups too. I enjoy your floss tube and love the variety of your stitching projects.

I have been stitching since I was 13 years old and I am in my middle 60’s.
I have Done Crewel Work - Regular Stamped Cross Stitch - String Art - Speed Tufting - Latch Hook - Stamped Embroidery - Quilting - Crochet - Paint By Number - Made my Own Clothes - Broom Lace - Counted Cross Stitch.
I have made in the past two - 60 inch round Pineapple Table cloths out of the real fine Aunt Martha’s White Crochet Thread using like 00 Size Crochet Hook - I have made a Crochet Sweater - Crochet Slippers - Lots of Crochet Afghans using the Granny Squares and also just using a Double Crochet Stitch. I have made Crochet Mittens as well.
Now I am crocheting a Afghan using the Double Crochet Stitch out of very pretty soft Baby Yarn.
My Mom taught me so much in craft stuff and I also help her make her little wooden things that she made from a Kit that she got from a old old company called Love Crafts that no longer exist. She would get a kit once a month and we would sit at the Kitchen Table in the evenings and she would let me paint since it was easy to do and since I was only 13 at the time.
I made my own clothes from Blazers to Pants to Skirts - To Shirts - To Dresses. I loved sitting down and making my own clothes with my Mom’s Help. I got to go in her Sewing Room and make my own clothes using her Sewing Machine and her Iron and Ironing Board.
In 1980 my Parents and I and my younger brother went to K-Mart. I took my money that I got for doing Chores - And I bought a small Counted Cross Stitch Kit which was a Owl.
After we got home I sat down on my bedroom floor and I taught myself to do Counted cross Stitch. I had that Owl done in one hour from start to finish.
To this day I still have the Pattern that the Kit came with - To This Day I still have my Little Owl that I made.
Went from doing small counted cross stitch patterns to Medium size patterns to Full Coverage - Complicated - Hard Patterns.
My Biggest Complicated Project that I have done is “Nativity” by Mar Bek - Serendipity Designs. This is a 5 Panel Huge Project. I even bought the special frame that is just for this Pattern. I paid on the frame so much per month until I had it paid off. It was expensive even back in the early 2000. By the time I had this Huge Project done the Frame was paid for in full.
My LNS got it framed for me and each Panel had its own special size so it would fit and than the frames themselves would hook together on the sides. You can take them apart if you want to.
This project took 60 Skeins of DMC Thread - 80 Skeins of Krenik Metallic Threads.
I had this done in exactly two years from start to finish. I did not quit on it one time. This was the only project I worked on during that time.
I gave it to a Former Pastor and his family one year for their Christmas Present.
The funny part was - is that my Church knew that I was making this for our Pastor at that time. They kept it a Secret for two whole years. Him and his family had no inkling that I was making this for them during those two years. He Collects Nativity things so that is why I made this for him and his family. They nearly died when they came to my house to get it. They could not believe it. The Congregation got to see the Whole Nativity Scene in is Frames standing up during one weekend when they were gone.
My Church did ask me if I would be willing to make it for the Church and I said No. it is s lot of hard work in this project and I literally had to re-write some of the Instructions for this pattern so I would not mess anything up.
The Nativity Project is my most Complicated Difficult Project I have done so far since 1980 when I began my Counted Cross Stitch Journey.
Using the Pinking Shears to keep the Edges from Fraying is a good idea. I just bought a pair of them last year. They were on Sale.
I just bought s brand new Iron from Amazon so I will be getting that on Tuesday.
I am going to take my Christmas Money this year and buy me a better Sewing Machine which I will get from Joann’s Fabrics. I have a Singer but it does not sow like it is suppose to.
Love all of your WIPS - You both are making great progress on them.
    Take Care & Happy Stitching

Love you two and your videos. Love your xstitching and colors. Is Curly Girl still a flosstube? Thinking this is now your flosstube? Love it! I live in Hagerstown, MD, about 70 ish miles from Baltimore. I am 70. Started cross stitching maybe early 1980’s. Still have lots of those patterns. Did a good many things. I got into quilting, rubber stamping, love card making. I can’t draw so I think that’s part of why cross stitching and rubber stamping appeals. I did craft shows some, selling cards, rubber stamps, sewn things. I got a renewed interest in xstitch during Covid. I started watching flosstube. It relaxed and helped me destress. I started buying some xstitch patterns again. I’ve had some health issues and haven’t actually started doing above mentioned things again but I sure hope to. For now I’m watching, hoping, dreaming. Enjoy seeing you two working. What a gift it is to work at crafts with your Mom. I’ve worked some with mine in the past but no zoom then so we worked long distance and when we visited each other. She made quilts for her family, and I often helped her choose patterns and fabric. I worked part time in a quilt shop for awhile. Helped me see fabric AND buy it. I love fabric. My Mom was a wonderful seamstress, sewing lots of clothes for me! Miss her! 🌲🌲⭐️⭐️⭐️

I so love your attitude and energy. You have so much fun with your stitching but are still goal oriented, which I can get behind. I started stitching in high school, right about 30 years ago. I really quit for a bit after college. I've stitched off and on over the years, but have not touched it at all in the past 5 years, since my daughter was born. I'm a knitter and crocheter, and everyone is doing temperature blankets, but that felt like too much for me, and a temperature stitch showed up in my feed. I had a package of 14 count white Aida, so just had to buy floss (which is much cheaper than yarn) so I went for it. I just fell in love with the process of stitching. I'm hooked for sure and trying to find a good balance between all the hobbies.

I also want to say thanks for saying its ok to do adia. That's what I stitch on. I haven't tried many difficult patterns because of that. A few flosstubes ago Madison showed a Prairie Schooler and the Halloween Quaker on adia opened my eyes that its ok for me to do bigger projects on adia. Thank you!

Ladies another great video. I love seeing your projects. It gives me a chance to catch a new pattern (like I need more). I don't have a store that I can shop for patterns and materials, so my shopping is limited to online shopping. I'm a hands-on person that I like to see the charts, colors, etc. I just ordered a PDF chart, for me it will be one of the largest pieces I have ever done. It has a beautiful verse which is a large part of the pattern. The problem is the stitching for the lettering is "petite cross stitching". If I had the pattern in hand, I probably wouldn't have purchased it. I have already torn out more than I have stitched, needless to say this is already frustrating. Do you mostly shop online? You always have beautiful fabric for your projects which can make a project. Thank you for answering my question using the corner stitcher. That is on my list, I think that it would make it easier way to start a project. Also, on my list is to find a journal I love this idea of tracking your goals, monthly projects. So glad to see you showed your journals again. You two are adorable, so enthusiastic. Look forward to seeing you again. I have been cross stitching off and on since the late 80’s. I worked back then at a local cross stitch and framing shop. At the same time I was beginning my career as a respiratory therapist a big city hospital and cross stitching and crocheting were my happy and calming place. I learned so much at the time by working at the cross stitch shop. The owner would teach me and let me help with the framing part of the shop and to this day i do my own framing using lots and lots of pins to stretch the piece out, use only acid free products and more.
Over the past 10 years I have love cross stitching again. Plum Street, Country Cottage, Modern Folk Embroidery are some of the designers that have helped me fall in love with it all again. In addition, the hand dyed aida fabrics out there have also helped. I like linen, but the older I get I realize that stitching on 14 and 16 count Aida bring me joy. No special tools needed. I stitch in hand and Aida is my sweet spot for even stitches and low stress.

I am 58 so I actually began cross stitching back in the 80s and like Bonnie, I quickly came to realize that there were not a lot of patterns that I was really drawn to (or at least not nearly as many as compared to today's standards). And back then there were also not as many fabric and fabric color choices as there are today or not even as many floss options. I got back into cross stitching during the pandemic when I was forced to stay home much of the time and I continued working on things up until about a year ago when I again decided to take a step back. I had actually quit my job and I just did not have the extra income to be spending on all of the things.
I have to say that I am thrilled to hear that you are Aida stitchers. I used to be (back when I started) but when I came back in 2020 I just found the Aida that I was purchasing to be very stiff and difficult to work with. So I made the switch to lugana (25 and 28 count) stitching 2 over 2. It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but I stuck with it and overcame the challenge. I have tried stitching on linen but was extremely frustrated and did not like the results. And at 58, my eyesight is not what it used to be and so even with wearing readers, I feel like the 25 and 28 count lugana fabric is about the most of what I can handle.
Sometimes in watching other Flosstube channels I feel almost as if they look down on people who stitch on Aida or Lugana. So I have felt at many times like my stitching or projects were not good enough and I think that is one of the things that I really love about your channel. I just find you to be more relatable to me personally and that is something I really appreciate.

I only stitch on Aida as I can't see on the linen. I understand when you say you feel looked down on for not stitching on linen. I am 70 years young, stitched back in the 80s then got busy with work and raising my children. When my husband passed 10 years ago I got back into stitching to help fill my time as i live by myself now. I have since retired and so enjoy my stitching. I will continue on Aida as bbn I stitch for my joy not to impress anyone else! So glad there are other Aida girls out there.

I came over from Nichol S. Flosstube and love your channel. After seeing Early Americans I decided that I need to do that. Where would I find more information on what fabric you are using, and where can I see a finished one stitched altogether? It's so beautiful. Your stitches are beautiful.

Hello!!! I just love you two! New subscriber and I have binged all your videos because it is so refreshing to see aida stitchers!!! I used to push myself to stitch on smaller and smaller counts in an effort to keep up with the jones' and I was beginning to HATE the craft that I loved so much. So I put it all away. I've been stitching since I was 10. I'm 40 now. My story is very similar though, I felt like all the patterns were geese and teddy bears! Lol. Then I discovered flosstube, but everyone was stitching 36, 40, 46ct linen. And I JUST CANNOT! It's not worth the little sanity I have left! Lol 😆 I have four young daughters and they are very glad that I've gone back to aida....hahahaha!!!! I yell a whole lot less, it's my therapy. So thank you for reminding everyone to stitch on what you LOVE! ❤️ Also I paused the video immediately and ordered some of those scissors with the hook from you, super cool! I was too late for the unstitcher. But will order when you restock. Glad to know you have an Etsy! So sorry so long....glad to meet you both and looking forward to more!!!! I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors! In a hurry this morning!

I was hopping in with this same sentiment - THANK YOU for making it “ok” to use Aida and DMC. Long time solo stitcher, new to “modern” stitching and feeling so peer pressured into linen and small counts - like there is no point in stitching a sampler on anything but linen. Yay for Aida stitchers!!!

I here you girl! I was so frustrated when I tried to come back and everyone was doing small counts. I could not see and hated it very much. And I could see Madison haveing so much fun on her aida! What was wrong with me! Thanks for visiting the shop. I am doing a big order today to stock up.

Is it possible for you to share the DMC colors that she decided to use as a substitute? What she showed us was so pretty. I am looking forward to your live on Sunday! Thank you

I love to watch you girls together I get lots of ideas and I love to hear your plans & ideas. I’ve actually been stitching for about 40 years I was a little slow in the beginning and then as I had more time after I retired I really went to town with it. I actually taught my mother How to Crosstitch which became her passion in her later life and she Crosstitched constantly until she passed three years ago , so I was so happy I was able to do that.😅 I stitch mainly on 16 count Aida , I started on 14 count but later on I didn’t like the coverage so I switched to 16 count which I absolutely love I cannot do Linen either Bonnie And since I Crosstitch for enjoyment I’m like why put myself in that predicament😂😂
I do have a question about the SF 101 (Is that correct?) Can you get that at Hobby lobby and does it iron on or you said it was adhesive? Thank you so much. Love your videos

Sorry about your mom. I am glad you have good memories with her and your time together.
SF101 from Pellon is sold at hobby lobby. I buy it off the bolt with all the other interfacings. It is iron on. So there is adhesive on one side only.

Love your channel. You are so enthusiastic ❤Bought the same fabric for my Map of Hawkrun because I love yours so much. 😮 Did you need to change any floss colors because of the darker gold? My grown daughter has started to stitch and I am enjoying that so much. I have no friends that stitch so I am excited about that ❤

It is so fun when you can enjoy something with your daughter. Madisons choice of that fabric is perfect. She says she did not change any floss colors.
