Good ingenuity as usual. Always amazing to see how you manage to work on your cars in parking spaces outdoors. I don’t ever recall seeing this as a trademark method. The 722.3 transmission (and 722.4) are two that I know had redesigned modulators over several years and one of the improvements was the modulator pin. The old style did break. What surprised me is someone sold you the old original style pin. The newest one is much slimmer and they come with a new modulator. At least that’s the way MB and suppliers I use sell them. On the good side, the color of the modulator tells you if it’s correct for your transmission and a green modulator appears to be correct for yours. Get yourself the improved pin. You’re right. You have to adjust the transmission internal pressure. I didn’t look up your year and model, but I believe like the 722.4 you’ll need a longer banjo bolt a different fitting and proper size hose for your pressure gauge. There are several types of tests but you can just do the single setting adjustment, at idle in neutral. I always do a full fluid, filter and pan gasket change if it hasn’t been done fairly recent, before pressure/modulator adjustment. Fluid pressure is also affected by the condition of the fluid. A few things you might want to check. Use your vacuum gauge to check vacuum in the line at the modulator coming from the engine compartment. Sorry, I don’t have the numbers handy. This is obviously important because your new modulator needs to see correct vacuum pressure. I think your engine has a vacuum pump unlike gasoline models that use the intake manifold pressure. Check it out. You’ll be dealing with a lot of vacuum lines in the future. 😉 Good luck, and take your time. Most of all enjoy yourself and people will enjoy watching and learning with you! Keep at it!
Next time maybe record what you noticed was wrong with your shifting. In other words a "before!" and "after". This way we might be able to determine if we need a replacement too ! Thumb up anyway -
3:40 - The cops are looking for you man. 5:50 - recommend a shop shop vac for situations like that. 7:24 - It was broken already most likely. Getting ready to do this on my 84 300SD. Thanks for the details !
For my 1983 309sd, I have a new modulator valve from Autohauz 126 270 92 79. Checking from the box, it does not strictly hold vacuum. It slowly leaks. Is that a bad part?
VITO'S GARAGE вау!!! Ты реально понимаешь во всем этом и главное любишь свои машины!!! Молодчина! Я тоже с телефоном и фонариком загораю под машиною, не жалее новый дорогой чехол и сам телефон 🤣
Do you have a video on how to set the vacuum pressure for the transmission modulator valve on the 1981 300sd and 1991 300te 4-matic? My 1991 wagon is smoking and losing trans fluid and 1981 has a bit of flaring going into high gear, still has the old style modulator on the sd otherwise running great. What kind of undercoating is that , looks nice. Thanks.
Dude that's kinda hard on the wheel. Not sure they are designed to take such high lateral compression forces. Find some wood. Be safe. (But if the jack is take a good share of the load that is fine.)
Yes sir, this is all safe. The wheel is designed to support the car, either when it's installed on the hub or it's used as a support. Often times I use more than 1 support which in this case was also a jack. But sometimes I even use 3 supports and the third one being the wheel. Cheers

Hi, how do i adjust my reverse gear adjustment bolt?
Next time maybe record what you noticed was wrong with your shifting. In other words a "before!" and "after". This way we might be able to determine if we need a replacement too ! Thumb up anyway -
I think I am gonna record how horrible my trans is shifting now:)

I will be doing a video on adjusting the vacuum modulator soon!

Hello Vito, did you make the video for the pressure adjustment? I cannot find it sir...
Hi sir. I'll be making it soon. Haven't had a chance yet. I'm restoring this car now
I heard a pop sound i think under the hood while revving my 1990 300d Automatic in park. It wont go in gear now. Shift linkages are good.
Time to drop the trans pan
@@VITOSGARAGE for?
@@VITOSGARAGE what about the TRA. Vaume line for the transmission.
Would this transmission work in a w116?
try to stop the rust on your left door!
do it soon!
what did this part do? what problems did it gave you? Love your video!
Hard shifts. It controls how smooth or how hard the transmission shifts.
Please check out my other videos and playlists! Cheers

VITO'S GARAGE я об этом тоже подумал и постеснялся предложить 😊🤝
Hey, Thanks for this. Any idea if it is the same on w124 250D 1989?
Yes, it should be the same
Tried to service my 722.4 but it lost pressure and doesn't shift in any gear. How can I adjust the pressure?
It drives forward and reverse but it just won't upshift?
It doesn't engage in any gear. It doesn't drive at all
Hey man could a bad vaccum modulator cause a late shift?
Bowden cable usually

No video on that just yet. And check for leaks if it's losing trans oil. Adjust the bowden cable if needed too

Easy
Where are the jack stands. Lol.
