the whole point of wearing the uniform is conformity which builds teamwork. Without teamwork you have no military, just a bunch of individuals, not soldiers. Will this only affect the physical appearance or is there an even deeper mood here? Will this also affect how the soldiers are trained? If your individual needs are placed above the others, above the training, above the unit as a whole, what repercussions will this inevitably bring? How far is the military willing to go to ensure every single soldier is happy? If you decide to join the military, you do as the military does. You can express yourself on your time off.

Maoris serving the NZDF), but this is too much for the conventional forces. It's up to the diversity, inclusion, and equality people to prove us wrong.
Why does it matter for a legal officer, logistics officer, air traffic control, radiology, IT, intelligence or cyber, communications, psychiatrists, HR, social worker officers, and many other occupations? All these changes can also be reversed if they affect operational duty - as stated in the documentation. But of course, no one has actually read it, just reacted to a short news clip.
@@winstonfc Add to that under discretion of the commanding officer. The clip is definitely misleading as it did not state whether full research was done by DND's policymakers on a number of militaries around the world to see if hair length, color, facial beard, tattoos have an affect on operations. I mentioned soldiers and officers of Maori descent serving in the New Zealand Defence Force because tattoos are part of their cultural identity and have no effect on their performance. And our indigenous peoples and Sikh's serving in our military who do have long hair, again no effect on their performance (the latter wrapped in a turban conforming to regulations that can be found on publicly accessible CANFORGEN documents). In the past French sappeurs sported long beards as part of their military culture but not sure if the tradition continues (I like for someone in the French military, whether active or retired to confirm this/j'invite quelqu'un dans la militaire française pour confirmer ce fait, soit qu' actif ou non).

@OOga Booga Said the bot.
@OOga Booga ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
the whole point of wearing the uniform is conformity which builds teamwork.
Well CWO Appel, good on towing the party line. However, just who said the dress code was out of date? Everyone knows the Service is there, here is the standard of dress, join if you want too, that is still being inclusive. Do you recall, "Uniformity" you know everyone is dressed the same, and looking professional. The Service was and should not be about the Individual. The service has become what the Dutch and Germans were in the 70's. I saw a sailor on the news, with long hair, mutton chops, stash and goatee, I am sure he will look sharp come Nov 11th in dress uniform.
Manitoba course? Getting placed in Winnipeg any recommendations.
US needs to catch up
How is this important?
You mean the military needs to be less tolerant just a tad bit to increase recruitment?
Though this is a welcomed change
yeah people are kinda overreacting, there is some slight combat cons about it but if we dont increase recruitment what else we gon do like fr tho
@@lilrevo9651 mandatory service
@@vincentlee7359 yeah and then next thing you know JT is a ''dictator'' again
@@lilrevo9651 honestly, I'm feeling that a portion of the Canadian populace is being fed misinformation by other foreign countries. Even right now Russian entities are talking with the far right parties in Canadian politics.
@@vincentlee7359 I know, its a mess, I just hope the voices of reason will shine brighter than their darkness.
Visible tattoos on CAF members has been allowed for a long time. I’ve been in the Army for 12 years now and have had my hands and complete neck tattooed since recruitment. The face is obviously the new reg.
Our heads won't be shaved at basic training?
Shame, I was looking forward to it
I wasn't lucky enough to join the regs when i was younger (40 years ago) my brother was in the regs and convinced me not to join but i was in the army cadets (i know doesnt count) and the reserves and i am not surprised at the comments and i agree with the over 90% that think the decision is dumb...IMO. Uniform isnt just what you wear it comes from the word uniformity. The generation now a days are ruining everything.
Who cares.... no one, not even Canadians knows what their dress code is like in the first place. People around the world dont even know Canada is a country or has a military anyways. let alone their dress code.
Absolute joke.
I can understand the need for long hair and beards in a special operations setting (ie. special missions conducted in a civilian setting), and face tattoos from Indigenous service members (ie.
@@quietprofessional Thank-you for your nuanced and informative reply.
I think many people are imagining only tip-of-the-spear soliders, regular infantry, on a deployment with rainbow coloured hair and prison tattoos. Just because they can, does not mean they will, barring operational restrictions. I suspect you'll see these changes reflected primarily in purple trades, where it really does not matter, and that the changes will be mostly unnoticeable.
I agree that they should have been more transparent about the policy conditions, as well as the research which justified the change, besides retention. But I am fairly certain this will pose no problem to the effectiveness the CAF.
Odin's *definitely* not racist tattoos...
Wait they forgot to mention the skirt part
Inclusive bwahhhh enough said. Just wow absolutely shocking.
They may enlist but they won't stay.
If I join the army the army would have me remove my tattoo that shows the crown on the left arm and the tattoo of my grandpa 105453 removed off his back because Jesus has noone to protect him but god him self
now i dont feel like joining the CAF. ill go to the states instead
So Canada military is getting desperate for recruits.
