My name is also eva. My Mom was also good in sewing. Not dresses but shoes. She passed away at 57 and that when i was 22. I dont have any idea on sewing before but now im age 41 starting to sew as my hobby on my free time. I remember my Mom's advices on sewing and now little by little starting to remember each of it. My sewing sometimes goes good also but sometimes its not. So i cried and talkin to my mom in my mind to help me and teach me how to, so i decided to be calm all the time concentrate and THANKS to RUclips that i can do a self study and learn how to sew while watching. And everytime i made a totebag i offered it to Her and sayin Look i've made it ! Im always missin my Mom everytime im in front of the sewing machine .

There are many volunteer positions in schools, churches, nursing homes, hospices...

When you do for the Lord Jesus, all you want is a person to feel His love throught your hands. It is like you have been a tool. If someone thanks you for something like that, you say "do not thank me, thank God. He gave it to you, not me". You know what would bem amazing? One little girl, as a grown woman, converted to Jesus, saying "that one day, I did not have a dress to wear on Christmas, but God provided me a box full of gifts, and a brand new handmade dress. I felt so loved that one day." Giiiirl, you have no idea how that would make me get on my knees and thank God for being a useful servent. God bless you.

I was born in 1959 & in 2009 I bought my first sewing machine so I could teach myself to sew holsters and other outdoor products. When I first got my sewing machine I remember thinking to myself that I could teach myself to sew. I thought, back then, if little old ladies can sew then so can I? Folks, the first thing I learned about sewing: it ain't so easy for me to teach myself to sew! 2019 I still sew using my Adler machine but I had to promise my mom that when we chat that I can not pester her about how to sew (for God's sake, Michael, go take some sewing classes). My mother still sews using a Viking and I have several of her quilts. I graduated in 1977 and wore a custom tailored, three-piece suit she sewed to my graduation. Currently I am considering buying a third machine, a commercial walking foot for leather. Today I am a decent sewing machine operator and really enjoy the learning process and challenges.

@@lizw1493 ,Two pieces of advice . 1. always use a short stitch but not so short you cant pick them out if you have to. 2. always press your seams in the way they will go AS YOU MAKE them.
Patricia Mesa me too! I learned from my grandmothers. Also knitting and embroidery, mostly from my Nanny but my Nan taught me to bake... but I never understood crochet.
I made a baby quilt out of purple and green fabrics. I gave it to my neighbor age 2. She and her parents were Karin refugees from Burma. The parents were born in a refugee camp and had lived there while growing up. I will never forget the look on the childs's face while she clutched the quilt and walked with her mother out my front door. I saw them years later...yes, she still has the quilt.
Awe this just warmed my heart so much, I adore elderly people, so full of wisdom, knowledge and love, and most importantly they love the Lord. I know she's no longer with us, but she's now in the presense or our Lord.
I am speechless, you have given me courage and inspiration to go on. It is a shame that some of us hardly to anything like this though we are young and strong. May God bless you and give strength to go on. Ms.. Eva you are a star.

This was priceless, really. What a great inspiration for all those elderly people, who feel unneeded, unwanted. The Lord has given a talent, or two to everyone, so why not use it, when you have more time than during those early years, when there was work, etc? :-) Her faith and humility, and that quiet joy brought me near tears. Nossa primeira calça comprida e mini- saia, foi ela que fez, desafiou papai a rasgá-las, pois ele dizia que se vestíssemos esse tipo de roupas, ele rasgaria. Ela costurou , nos levou pra sua casa, nos vestiu e foi conosco mostrar a meu pai. Ficamos morrendo de medo . Aí ela chegou perto dele deu-lhe a tesoura e disse : aí está, corte , eu quero ver. E ele não cortou ... ela fez isso com os dois modelitos, calças e mini- saia. Éramos em seis meninas. Eu amava minha avó, eu costumava ajudar nas limpezas das costuras e ela me colocava em sua perna enquanto costurava e eu amava aquele movimento de sobe e desce, parecendo uma cavalgada e amava aquele cheiro de tecido novo... tomei gosto por artesanato e costura, graças a ela. Ela faleceu com 102anos , ativa, costurando e fazendo sua sopinha maravilhosa, até hoje lembro daquele cheirinho gostoso da sopa de mãe Nila 😊. Ela ficou viúva aos 70 anos. Costurava todas as nossas roupas. Que saudade dessa mulher tão incrível que era minha vovó mãe Nila. Um grande beijo 😘 dona Eva . Deus te abençoe.😍🙏💙🦋

She is now in her eighties and she's still sticky to her (dear)sewing machine !she used to be a great talented dressmaker. She used to help needy brides. ...what a lovely MOM and grandma! Oh! My! Goodness! this has made me cry. This sweet lady reminds me so much of my darling Mother-in-Law now in Heaven. She lost her husband when my husband was born. Never married, told me the very same thing about the "touch" of someone you have so loved. People like this are an absolute Treasure.

I just saw the sign from the box! I can still remember from my childhood! I was between 8-9 years old , and for Christmas, me and all the kids from our church, received present from them! She is adorable! My grandparents are just like that. My grandpa is 91 and my grandma 86 and they are as fit as ever. And they tell the best stories 😂

Brought tears to my eyes. I remember as a teenager there was a woman in our building she was poor like us but a different race..And made many creative it's items by hand she was so kind, and honest and she didn't make fun of me because of my disability..Loved her lost contact..😢😢😢

When you do for the Lord Jesus, all you want is a person to feel His love throught your hands. It is like you have been a tool.
If someone thanks you for something like that, you say "do not thank me, thank God. He gave it to you, not me".
You know what would bem amazing? One little girl, as a grown woman, converted to Jesus, saying "that one day, I did not have a dress to wear on Christmas, but God provided me a box full of gifts, and a brand new handmade dress. I felt so loved that one day."

Eva is truly an inspiration. I am looking forward to meeting her when we get to Heaven. The little girls that received her dresses weren't the only ones blessed by her story.
I was born in 1959 & in 2009 I bought my first sewing machine so I could teach myself to sew holsters and other outdoor products. When I first got my sewing machine I remember thinking to myself that I could teach myself to sew. I thought, back then, if little old ladies can sew then so can I? Folks, the first thing I learned about sewing: it ain't so easy for me to teach myself to sew! 2019 I still sew using my Adler machine but I had to promise my mom that when we chat that I can not pester her about how to sew (for God's sake, Michael, go take some sewing classes). My mother still sews using a Viking and I have several of her quilts. I graduated in 1977 and wore a custom tailored, three-piece suit she sewed to my graduation. Currently I am considering buying a third machine, a commercial walking foot for leather. Today I am a decent sewing machine operator and really enjoy the learning process and challenges.
Mike Freeman, did you eventually learn to sew without classes? I am 38 years and I don't have time to attend classes I would like to teach myself to sew, how possible is it? What machine is best for beginners like me? Thanks

1. always use a short stitch but not so short you cant pick them out if you have to.
2. always press your seams in the way they will go AS YOU MAKE them.

I love sewing I learned at home. I can see myself at an old age in front of the machine.
Patricia Mesa me too! I learned from my grandmothers. Also knitting and embroidery, mostly from my Nanny but my Nan taught me to bake... but I never understood crochet.
I made a baby quilt out of purple and green fabrics. I gave it to my neighbor age 2. She and her parents were Karin refugees from Burma.
The parents were born in a refugee camp and had lived there while growing up. I will never forget the look on the childs's face while she clutched the quilt and walked with her mother out my front door. I saw them years later...yes, she still has the quilt.
What a wonderful lady. Such a great story. Her love will be shared around the world.
Awe this just warmed my heart so much, I adore elderly people, so full of wisdom, knowledge and love, and most importantly they love the Lord. I know she's no longer with us, but she's now in the presense or our Lord.

This was priceless, really. What a great inspiration for all those elderly people, who feel unneeded, unwanted. The Lord has given a talent, or two to everyone, so why not use it, when you have more time than during those early years, when there was work, etc? :-) Her faith and humility, and that quiet joy brought me near tears. Que coisa linda, essa história me fez chorar. Lembrei da minha vovó. Nós chamávamos ela por mãe Nila. Nossa primeira calça comprida e mini- saia, foi ela que fez, desafiou papai a rasgá-las, pois ele dizia que se vestíssemos esse tipo de roupas, ele rasgaria. Ela costurou , nos levou pra sua casa, nos vestiu e foi conosco mostrar a meu pai. Ficamos morrendo de medo . Aí ela chegou perto dele deu-lhe a tesoura e disse : aí está, corte , eu quero ver. E ele não cortou ... ela fez isso com os dois modelitos, calças e mini- saia. Éramos em seis meninas. Eu amava minha avó, eu costumava ajudar nas limpezas das costuras e ela me colocava em sua perna enquanto costurava e eu amava aquele movimento de sobe e desce, parecendo uma cavalgada e amava aquele cheiro de tecido novo... tomei gosto por artesanato e costura, graças a ela. Ela faleceu com 102anos , ativa, costurando e fazendo sua sopinha maravilhosa, até hoje lembro daquele cheirinho gostoso da sopa de mãe Nila 😊. Ela ficou viúva aos 70 anos. Costurava todas as nossas roupas. Que saudade dessa mulher tão incrível que era minha vovó mãe Nila. Um grande beijo 😘 dona Eva . Deus te abençoe.😍🙏💙🦋

What a beautiful person and a beautiful story ! Just like my MOM. She is now in her eighties and she's still sticky to her (dear)sewing machine !she used to be a great talented dressmaker. She used to help needy brides. ...what a lovely MOM and grandma! May God bless her !Personally, l'm teaching my own daughters (sewing ).Even If they are university students, l want them to become great and successful dressmakers .sewing is a pleasure, and when it is well done, it is an art !

She lost her husband when my husband was born. Never married, told me the very same thing about the "touch" of someone you have so loved. People like this are an absolute Treasure.
Oh yes, those people are sent from God and go directly back to him. It seems they are like good angels walking amongst us.

I just saw the sign from the box! I can still remember from my childhood! I was between 8-9 years old , and for Christmas, me and all the kids from our church, received present from them! I have tears on my eyes, because was such a lovely and unforgettable moment, that I will always remember about ! May our GOD always bless them and this such a lovely lady! ♥️🤗😇

Awnnhhh....🙂.She reminds me of my mother ...I miss my mom😢 ..she was only 50.. She was so much attached to her sewing machine.... we often saw her working on her machine....as if it kept her...relaxed and happy....Now,I own that machine...vl take care of it...till Almighty keeps me alive..🙂
