It’s nice but heartbreaking to see the other side of you @jimdavidson you are a brilliant comedian but you also come across as a very genuine, sincere gentleman. I’ve never forgotten seeing you with my parents when I was a kid on the pier at Great Yarmouth & you took the time to have a picture with us(obviously not as blue a show as you do now)but you were/are a great talent & it’s a shame you went through this rubbish. All of a sudden Freddie Star wasn't there. I used to love him, Jim has given us an insight into his character. So sad that he was ground down so badly, I never knew any of this. R.I.P. Freddie and thankyou :)
I will never forget his broken tape routine. If ever you doubt that Freddie Starr was an incredibly, INCREDIBLY, talented man…..watch his broken tape routine. It’s comedy genius. Both Jim, and Freddie, made my Saturday nights as a kid with my old grandparents, hilarious. And they asked for nothing in return. 🌹
I was lucky to see Freddie live. He came out after the show and sat on the edge of the stage as we were going home and asked if anyone had any questions? A guy said what is the silliest thing you have done Fred? Fred replied, I was sitting at home bored looking out the window at the pouring rain. I suddenly jumped up, ran outside and flagged down a passing car. The guy opened the window and said hello Freddie how are you is there a problem? Freddie said, I am in trouble and I need a bit of a push to get me going will you help? The guy said sure and parked his car and followed him round the back of his house. Fred then came out with the punchline. He said I went and sat on the garden swing, and this guy stood there giving me a push..both of us getting soaking wet! Still funny all these years later and I believe it really did happen, that was the guy.
Well said Jim, more people need to listen to you, the police and the media need to seriously look at the consequences of how they treat people, they did kill Freddie Starr, he was a national treasure, as are you. Keep going and fighting for what's right 👍
I think most knew Freddie was shy and fragile. He like many used his comedy to function. It's terrible how it ended for him . Great comedian and daft as a brush who had you in stitches throughout his .But it could have happened to Cliff, Jim, Matthew Kelly and I believe Jim Tarbuck . No action is great but the stigma of being accused and investigated must be gut wrenchingly devistating
Jim, I'm new to your comments on the internet... so I've looked up many of your previous internet comments. You must have gone through terrible times over this and I agree your comments about Freddie Starr. Jim, you speak a lot of common sense on issues generally and you speak for many ordinary people like me. Thanks.
jim it shows what happens when people in power are so ready to believe a lying git without any proof & to release names in such circumstances is just plain criminal, the people who handled yewtree should be brought to book.
Starr denied ever visiting The BBC or meeting the girl and then was proved a liar when the footage surfaced. Find a way to get around that awkward fact.
Freddie was a phenomenon, larger than life but he had a greater height to fall from than most. He never survived the the impact of that fall, he was pushed to his demise. More needs to be said Jim.
Now that was so intense I welled up and every emotion in my body yearned to its point of bursting with anger at the abhorrent disgusting actions of the police and media creating a witch-hunt from an accusation which held no merit at any given time honestly makes me furious
Great to hear you again Mr J Davidson, As a named Freddy myself, FREDIE STAR gave me the greatest experience in entertainment laughter. (including yourself).Jim you were lucky to have close ties with him. A fragile man who was pursued by British forces, no apology given for what they did to him and yourself. I met Jim when I was a kid in the great yarmouth winter Gardens, I asked him to sign my napkin as I loved big break. Jim had a bit of drink in him and he chatted to me and my family and made jokes about the yarmouth folk, my mum said he was rude and I loved him more as he was honest. Jim is real and always has been. Legend ❤
Jim you are a national treasure to British Comedy as was Freddie, it was so criminal what the police did, I wish the individuals who carried out this atrocity could be held accountable now tried and convicted in court then names shamed and lose everything, all assets. house, home, family, friends, pension, reputation and freedom. as that's what they took from all of you who were so wrongly accused. so glad you have re-built what you have of respect. no amount of money could reward you for the loss. thank god you are a strong and brave man. RIP Freddie. the individuals in the justice system failed us and should be held accountable
there aren't so many comedians that have me in tears of laughter, but watching Freddy Starr doing his "Vincent" sketch, with the speeded up and slowed down playback is one I could see time and again and will still have me in stitches...
The women who made these accusations, did they ever face charges for destroying good mens lives. All that hate to make some money. Society as us old uns remember it is finished.🙉🙊🙈🙏🙏🙏
My heart goes out to you Jim. No way to even begin to comprehend what you went through. With no more Starr, Davidson and Barrymore etc on TV comedy is dead, because this lot today have not got a clue what makes people laugh. R.I.P Freddie.
Freddie Starr was brilliant, a 'no boundaries' comedian, the allegations that people brought against him also showed signs of somebody who knew 'no boundaries'....there needs to be an investigation into any allegations, but who knows?
Grew up watching Jim Davidson in the 70s n 80s..... Seen him as buttons in panto, at Bath probably.... And all he does for the British armed forces, fantastic bloke an absolute legend and true British patriot.
When genuine accusations are made about powerful people, their tactic is to find people willing to make false (and usually scandalous) accusations - then they will highlight the false allegations as proof all the accusations were false. They don't care who the false accusations target - their goal is to protect the powerful!
I think because of Freddie’s bizarre character he was an easy target when in reality the bloke was just a pure joker, guessing here but anyone who associated with him was just an easy target themselves. I grew up watching Freddie, Jim and all the real comedians and presenters and it’s really sad to see how they have been treated. This situation where if someone accused you of something your guilty. What happened to innocent until proven guilty. The accused should absolutely have the right to anonymity until proven guilty. Otherwise thier life is over either way. It's a disgrace how they are put on trial by media.
While Freddy was entertaining at Gt Yarmouth for a summer season, he came and trained at the Karate club, Where I was a member; he was so lovely. Probably 50 years ago now.
It is a disgrace and should be independently investigated. Cliff, Freddie, Jim, Paul G and the list goes on. But Jimmy Saville, the monster survived and thrived and EVERYONE knew. Shame on the establishment.
Jim wrote about the accusations levelled at him in his book No Further Action. The statements made no sense at all, even to untrained eyes. He’s well rid of those indictments.
I am going to get stick. But, Jim Davidson is one of my heroes. I think his work for charity is amazing. His sense of humour is immense. He is a deep and rich human being. But, he can explain why he holds those views and he is a sensitive and well-meaning soul - and that will do for me! His words on Freddie Starr there were so well-crafted and caring,. May God Bless You, Jim.
Many comedians of that era were fragile individuals away from the stage. It was despicable the way Freddie was treated by the authorities using a logic "they mustve all been at it" . I don't think the media comes out of this looking too good either because sold a few issues off the back of the speculation which certainly would've added more personal insult
I also think Jim is correct. Jim was always my favourite comedian and knew right away that he was innocent. The police persecuted everyone and I’m just glad that no further charges were brought against him.
