Herd this on CBC radio today and was pleased to find out that the song is about good times Charlie's in the iconic Plains hotel . I grew up in Regina Saskatchewan and will always remember that hotel and all the good times I have had at good times Charlie's. Thanks to deep dark woods for writing such a great song.
Same, I don't understand why they refuse to release this song on Spotify when their other music is on there. Download this in MP3 format and just import it into your Spotify playlist, its been over 10 years and it still isn't on Spotify, guess it never will be
made a mix like 6 or 7 yrs ago with this song, Evening Bell's "Dust Storm" and Wooden Wand's "Uneasy Peace" which are all not on Spotify which kills the mix, so bummed, all great artists and songs. guess that's the price we pay for not paying the artists and instead Spotify!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Deep Dark Woods. This song is exactly everything I had hoped it would be and more. Kudos to the folks at cbc radio 2 for Song Quest! I will be picking up the album for sure!
I was up in Canada visiting my wife and I was waiting in the car for her.. just flipping through stations and I heard the tail end of this. It haunted my memory until I was able to find out what song it was and who sung it... I haven't been able to stop listening to this and a few other songs from TDDW. Props from an American! Great song! A+ 10/10 w/e :D
I lived at the hotel that the bar was called. It was the Plains Hotel Regina. . It was an interesting point in life....good blues bands good karaoke lots Grand Marnier.
yeah, these guys are one of my new favourites want to get a cd. Its cool because they sound simalar to another amazing canadian band "The Band" . Canadian borrowing canadian sound, it reminds me of my home town.
Cheers for the post! I'd just 'discovered' The Deep Dark Woods recently and have already started sharing their music (as well as Plaskett's great Song Quest effort) with friends overseas.
love it! so reminds me of a sailing dark sudanese attack llama desperately reaching for a cold corona and dragging on a cigarette while holding off an assault from several angry and sadistic rock hamsters from Jupiters third moon who had troubled childhoods and suffered many crushing disapointments and were sadly misunderstood.
This song should be known all across the planet

@@utuberssuck7024 yeah it sucks. I often do the import method but for some reason Spotify randomly uninstalls them every once in a while

Well done... story in a song whose haunting melody echos thru empty halls and shuttered windows of these icons of the past

So so smooth
What an amazing song. Just discovered it two minutes ago. Meant to be played with a good bass so you can just be wraped in it.
I love this song!!!!!
I heard this song when it came out and loved it, but couldn't find it afterward. Thankfully just heard it on CBC R2 Drive today. Great tune.

It’s either a sequel or variation of a theme, to the original 1973 tune Good Time Charlies Got the Blues by Daniel O’Keefe.
