haha i was doing contracting work in the barrier for a few years those little planes are a roller coaster and have a runway but still land on grass, love your content breather.
Reef Hunter Spearfishing NZ Used to do 3 or 4 long weekend trips a year in late 70s early 80s . Best memories were Crays in 6 ft water at little Barrier and night dives for scallops at Gt Barrier . Our skipper was a guy called Don who was 70 back then . Don would tell us stories at night how him and his brothers were first divers in Nz to use tanks and how his mum knitted them all full woollen wetsuits to keep warm , but Don did know all the best spots and we never came home empty handed , great days Any chance you would do a night dive video. All the best
@@marklonie4058 That's awesome I love hearing stories from back in the day! The glory days! Yeah I've done night dives overseas but not in New Zealand yet, I'll try get one done this year. It's an amazing at night, I will never forget my dive in the Maldives, just incredible.
Awesomely amazing and interesting, beautiful video to watch. May you continue to succeed and producing more incredible video of different parts of our beautiful country. So bless , be safe , be extra careful and take care .
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit just the rangers, im the son :) i've been spearfishing for nearly five years. just a reminder but its landing by permit only
Just go hard. Need to grab by the horns at base (feelers will come off) try aiming for their tail as they move so fast backwards. Use one hand to move their feelers/attention upwards then come underneath or vice versa
Hey mate, I usually take the hammer out if I'm on a mission diving of my kayak or boat. But if doing a shore dive, chuck it in a float baot or I think I've heard guys modifying the hammer holder on a builders/carpenters apron? Anything that works, highly reccommend though! Very efficient and saves getting spines in hands when using a rock!
oh man I should not be watching your vids I am just drooling looking at that awesome food. Melbourne just doesn't do it for me where Kaimoana is concerned :P nvm your vids full my tummy for now lol
Will have a gear vid up shortly in RUclips going into depth on my guns and equipment etc. But I usually run 16mm bands slightly longer than half barrel length then pre tension right down onto the lugs near handle.
Video 7/10 Footage 8/10 Explanation 8/10 Music 6/10 Food 1/10 lol I am sorry, pretty sure it taste good but cray paua scallops are like many people dream food but you made it look very unappetizing. keep up the good work!
Most people over complicate seafood. The way I Cooked my Paua and crays are how 99% of people here in NZ cook them. As for the scallies. Not my favourite, garlic butter flash fried is the best. Cheers for the feedback.

Hey Ollie, great video - thanks for sharing. We're heading up in a couple of weeks from Wellington, any tips on locations for shorediving?
Where are you heading exactly? Heaps of information in spearo Facebook groups, just search name of a beach will be heaps of past threads
Ohh man you making grabbing crays look so easy haha! Do you have any tips? I find I'm just not quick enough!

What breath holds are you doing
not long mate, 1 - 1/2 minutes max
Is it not illegal to collect paua when you have scuba gear on the boat even?
Yes it is illegal as you said. We gathered the Paua on this trip freediving off the beach
