Cheers Robbie. Great to see Aslan through another lens, so to speak. It was a real honour and a privilege to meet a genuine legend (or is it a leg end?) of the Narrowboat Tubers - and a truly decent, laid back and honest chap. Thanks also for helping to put my mind at rest about traveling along the tidal Trent. Up till then I'd been 'bricking it' at the thought, for weeks beforehand. Cheers for a very enjoyable and memorable day, Kev. Oh yes, and thank you for the plug. :)
CountryHouseGent A great chap? Are you kidding me? Cumming has sold out by working to earn a living - which is exactly what Harry Lime has accused you of doing in this video's comments section. Going over to Vimeo in order to earn yourself some money? Disgusting! Why can't you remain pure from the grubby world of commercialism by going on benefits, like our Harold? On the subject of the grubby world of commercialism, I have yet more lovely ladies of...er... more mature years who are keen to make your acquaintance. Just one question, as getting in and out of Aslan will be a problem for them, would you consider installing a Stannah Stair Lift? Given that it would only be needed for a couple of steps, I am sure the cost will be easily affordable. Okay, as it's you, I'm prepared to offer membership to my dating agency for 1750 quid per annum - and I'll even throw in a year's subscription to Saga Magazine. Can't say fairer than that, Kevin!
Hi Robbie. Great to see you meeting the legendary Country house gent! I have subscribed to you both and really enjoy watching both your channels on RUclips. Keep on cranking dude!!!
I like a boat mans cabin. I bet be keeps warm with the cabins own stove. Handy for keeping a pot of coffee or tea going. I even like the old art work. Very traditional
Thanks for another great video Robbie, I'm pleased to hear that you're getting on top of the problems you had, with perhaps a good amount of self-discipline in your toolbox!! Sometimes the right advice from an unexpected source is best? You've obviously bonded more with Naughty Lass now, so as that partnership develops further, you will become a friend to yourself again. It was very good of you to treat us to an impromptu tour of Kevin's boat, as a reminder of what we all saw of it before he went mercenary on us, but as they say; "A man's gotta do, etc., etc.", so Good Luck and pork pies to him. Thanks again Robbie, All the Best to you!
Kevin is on Amazon now,4 seasons now...i bought them all. I watch him every night as i fall asleep and dream of being a country house gent on the canals. Thanks kev, luv ya bro
I’m just discovering the vloggers on the English canals. It has me wanting to visit England as top of my travel list! Thanks for the tour, it’s so interesting to see such alternative ways of living. We’re genuinely living in changing times and I love it. Cheers from California!
Incredible video. I love both boats. I basically love narrowboats 😂 . You guys are living the dream . I watch Kev's videos too. His series are well worth getting
Thanks Robbie, I miss the Country Gent on RUclips also. I find it fantastic that something (the canal system) which was built for entirely commercial reasons, when it was no longer needed for commerce could now be enjoyed by so many for recreational pleasure. Leave it to the British to repurpose everything. Take Care.
Hi Robbie cracking video lad and great to see Kevin's boat with that fantastic engine in you two look very natural together perhaps a future crank it collaboration with the two chaps on two boats maybe? Glad your picking away at the list keep up the good work it will all come right lad!
Ive met kevin in brinklow last year loved watching your video his boat has changed a bit over the last 5 years. Im on one of kevins videos where he visits the big holl known ad the tump in Brinklow.. Maybe i will bump into you or kevin at some point while im kayaking the canal anywhere around brinklow All the very best Kev the Brinklow kayaker 😅
Enjoying all your Vlogs Robbie, all the more relevant as I have nearly finished restoring/refitting a 58ft narrow boat called Lily of The Valley and she has a 2 cylinder Lister TS2 not unlike your ST2, so your sound as you travel along is brilliant. Looking forward to cruising in earnest next year. Keep up the good work.. Richard
Your punch list reminds me of the saying "Anyone that owns their own home deserves it". That said, I enjoyed the video and I like the way you have shown, whether you know it or not, that a boat that looks old on the outside can be new on the inside, or partly old and partly new. Glad to see that you will be able to replace the fittings on your tank, that is a lot better than having to replace the whole tank.
Hay, great video... always good to see around someones boat. still have not found one that I want to buy Yet :( did not realize that Kevin was on Vimeo..... (wondering why?)
Ey up Robbie.... good to see you smiling,.... hope ya safe n well.....have split with the Mrs....boats with her and dogs with me so don’t know if our paths will ever cross but I’ll always keep a eye on ya through youtube👍👍👍
Well that was short & to the point. You gots to love an old boat. Especially when they purrrrrrrr like that one does. I've got an 1984 inboard/outboard. I love it to death. Just had it rebuilt about 3 yrs now, but haven't really had it in the water to play w/it but only once to make sure it was rebuilt right. Then brought it home & parked it. My health got bad. But now I'm doing much better now but cant go camping bc my dang camper got vandalized & has a huge hole in the ruff & did not know it & it's just went to hell from the water damage. So we're going to trade it off just as is & move on w/are lives. The people responsible for this will pay sometime & I hope it w/giving me a check bc they feel guilty for what they've done. Hope I get lucky... lol.... You have a great week. Keep on cranking it, Chris from Missouri
Life’s never simple for you is it! Hope karma comes round for you soon and your health gets better and can at least enjoy some time outside in nature 8^)
Full engine room. No dangling upside down in an access hatch to work on engine. Nice interview & boat review Robbie, now toss back a quick pint & chips, and GET BACK TO WORK on your list. (do you have a way to safely fry some chips on the 'Lass?)
Oh yes and having all that room to get at it from each side, what a luxury eh! Yeah I don’t have any way to deep fry anything... would make the boat stink a bit too I would think?!
Followup question: Here in TEXAS about 1 in 6 people will choose Ranch Dressing instead of Ketchup as sauce/dip for 'french frys', if given the option. Besides ketchup, whats another popular 'chips' dip/sauce over there?
@@rwbimbie5854 well in the uk, regular fish and chips (from a fish and chip shop) just has salt and vinegar (malt) shaken over - but those chips are nothing like French fries -they're fatter, juicier and made with real potatoes
Beautiful changeringing in the background. Is 20hp enough to do battle with the Trent? The river has a habit of washing underpowered narrowboats out into the Humber.
Also if you stay on the southern side of Keadby you avoid going anywhere near trent falls/the humber! Agreed about the church bells, saved me from using any music!
He's still on youtube as country house gent... luv ya kev, the other guy... not so much, haha! Jk....kidding you robbie! Haha luv you too brother, see you guys soon after i win the lottery. Right?
I know it's not your boat but probably best not to have a barometer in the engine room. When the engine fires up and starts consuming engine room air the pressure will drop and give false readings. This is made worse depending on how tightly sealed the room is.
I also doubt he's looking at it when the engine is running as he'll be at the stern of the boat driving it. The side hatch will be wide open most of the time anyway when the engine is running.
Kevin has a really shocking story to tell on his youtube channel (just posted) A really horrible thing happened to a really nice man. It gives some background as to why he, in the most, left youtube and went to vimeo.
There is no point painting oil based paints if the temp is below 10degs it doesnt stick/cure correctly and you will get peeling next year..leave it until Mid Spring now.
I love country house gent , too bad he is forcing people to pay, some of us are in worse financial straights than producers... people should think of that ..... as it is reality more than you may guess...blue tug tuna SEATTLE USA
No doubt you pay your ISP for the access, possibly a cable channel or two, maybe even a netflix subscription. Why should it be different from a small one man creator? As someone who is in the bottom 1% when it comes to income I see no validity in your position. A one off payment of less than the price of a couple of beers or a packet of cigarettes is inconsequrntial when you look at what you are getting from him in return.
christopher peterson Eh? Forcing people to pay? Nobody is forced to do anything. You might as well say that Walmart is forcing people to pay. Don't go to the store and you won't have to pay them a penny. No, Kevin used to be on RUclips and I watched his videos. Now he's on Vimeo and I don't. That was really enjoyable - pure simple appreciation of all that is good and non-toxic in life
Thanks Martin! Can’t say it’s 100% non-toxic though with that face-blackening chimney exhaust! 😂
Thanks Robbie, thanks Kevin ...... what a wonderful engine 😁

What a wonderful old narrowboat and engine! Thanks for sharing it.

Glad you pushing on with your jobs. You look much happier on this video. Thanks for the boat tour, that’s a great boat. I love the claxons.
Love it! I'm about to start from scratch and this layout is a real possibility!
Nice trad Robbie....have to admit I do like them the best. Good to see you're getting on top of your jobs and looking happier.

Cheers from California ! Thank you for making this .
Thanks nilo, hope you aren’t affected by the wildfires, awful to hear
Good on ya Robbie , keep working on your problems getting your boat ship-shape . Thanks for the tour of Kevin"s boat and KEEP CRANKING :-)
That's one beautiful engine! I arrived here from CHGs channel. Now subscribed ;-)
Robert - DL3RR; me too. CHG sent me.
What a great engine and video too..
I had to laugh when you were filming in the mirror, as I saw the logo and was thinking 'did he steal that from Brit Rail'...….LOL
