I picked up a bushlore 5 years ago when I first started getting into bushcraft.
    It's still my main knife.
I have a mora robust for my UL hiking kit. You don't have to spend a fortune on *everything* :)

Great review of your Bushlore. I have spent piles of money on knives looking for that "perfect knife," and with all that I have spent, I still use my bushlore almost exclusively. It's a knife that works and works well.

I have several bushlores and they have never failed me. An excellent knife for general camp and bushcraft jobs. When I first started buying them, they were about $35. They're now about $50, but still an excellent price for a very good knife.

Now these cost 110 euro for the newer version. At least, someone doesn't have to spend 500$ for a good knife, for a user knife, those low alloy carbon steels, are the best choice for such a knife. Unfortunately, people have been brainwashed with RUclips marketing videos and in the same time, have little experience, so they think, that they have to spend hundreds of dollars, for a knife, that they finaly end up not using at all, they just keep them in a drawer eating dust forever!!

Actually it's more like (roughly) 100 USD to 70 GBP.. u can't go by the price of the same knife between UK and the states. Typically American knives cost a lot more in the UK. Alternatively, you may be able to score a Hultafors cheaper in the UK inasmuch as I know..

Hi Andy, I've got one of these knives, it goes where I go. Steel hardness is a compromise, harder steel such as 1095 may hold an edge better but, it takes more to sharpen and it can chip. 1075 is a bit softer but easy to sharpen in the field. I've never had mine chip, but, that fine scandi edge can roll with a softer steel. Pick your poison. Good review! Many thanks!

When I was growing up in the 60s here in the UK I lived in a village surounded by countryside, it was perfectly normal for us kids to wander about with sheath knives on our belts, after all we were always in the woods and fields building dens and camping out, we understood knives and how to use them properly, no one ever got threatened with a knife or stabbed, we understood they were a tool and not a status symbol, those days are long gone now sadly.

SO...it is true, one can SPEND MORE without buying MORE UTILITY. As a youth, I imagined that the bigger, heavier bladed knives had to be 'the real deal.' Those knives never worked well for me when it came to doing what I NEEDED to do on a hike or in camp. My most used outdoor knives are the size of yours as to blade length and width and thickness. I am not fond of the Scandi grind for slicing...but you make it work well, so go figure.
