That house where they filmed the exteriors was just up the road from me (and more importantly a couple of minutes from Thames TV's Teddington Studios... now destroyed and the land used for flats, grrr!)
Old English word, taken up with great enthusiasm in America. Basically denoting a 'worthless person'. Not actually in widespread use in the UK in terms of the music movement until 1976 as 'punk rocker'.
I am pretty certain the "bleep" was in the original. I remember watching it with my parents and they refused to say why it happened (even less tell me what it likely hid!)

@@rileyowen7731 The interior looks like the Roper's house from George & Mildred.

@@WallyPyneoil Spot on!
In an age where practically any curse word is acceptable, why censor a word from a 1975 show🤷🏽♀️?
Be that as it may, thank you for posting this 😄.

Flippin Aida, used to watch this and Father Dear Father, The Kids from 47A, all of them. Don't watch TV now, it's mostly rubbish.
I like the kids from 47a I’ve seen it on dvd
I didn’t grow up watching it though but I like watching it now on dvd.
