SatEight SatEight i never said they had to change anything about the characters, i was simply pointing out that it would be perfectly normal for someone to not understand what they were saying, especially considering their voices are very quiet and muffled and there’s a constant breathing noise in the background which can be quite distracting at times

Well, it partly did. Emo and Goth both diverged from Punk music, with Goth as a subgenre of Post-Punk and Emo as a byproduct of Hardcore Punk/Post-Hardcore. But now, they are pretty much their own thing.

It's not about "telling kids to "learn history and respect traditions"" but about how stupid is society again giving credit to some for something they didnt do and ignoring the credit the underground deserved after 30 years. Many of the mainstream "emo" bands from 2002 on are just playing regular pop music while wearing a haircut (not all of them). To me is as stupid as the music world and music media forgetting two decades of rather very well known bands before those.

I reluctantly watched this expecting to be annoyed at the inaccuracies...but I was surprised. This was pretty on point. I would only disagree with the general dismissal of "emo revival" but that's pretty minor. Of course there are important bands missing but it's a 5 minute video. You can't talk about every influential emo band in 5 minutes. Great job!

I suppose a lot of people still think they're emo bands, even though there's still emotive hardcore, Midwest emo, etc around. When emo hit the 00s, it became a whole new genre called emo pop punk. Those bands would fit into that category, especially their earlier albums. But they're not emo, they're emo pop punk and that's a different thing because it's a fusion of emo and pop punk.
Shannon Dunn I believe that the Fulled By Ramen song's get put in to a different place to. The reason to me why the showed them was because a lot of kids who were emo in the 2000's they listen to Paramore and Panic! At The Disco.
I mean to be honest I have listened to panic! At the Disco and I still do now. I love Brendon Urie as a person and I love his music. It's my taste and it doesn't matter if your taste is different. We all like these genres because if we didn't we would not be on this video

I noticed that several emo people moved to rap the latest years. There are some underground (not that under anymore) artists like $uicideBoy$, Lil peep, xxxtentacion, bones, spooky black, etc that definetely have a emo influence in their music and lyrics, you should prlly check it out, i fuxk with that shit so much

they got lumped in with the early 2000s emo bit. the bald guy at the end is referring to screamo/skramz from the late 90s early 2000s, on independent/diy labels. bands like pg99, Saetia, Circle Takes the Square, Orchid, Funeral Diner, etc. different screamo than FFTL.

Should've talked about how the album "Pet Sounds" was pretty much the first emo album or at east influenced emo to become a thing. And also should've definitely talked about American Football.

As a big fan of the album, i can see where you are coming from. However sad songs on that level had been around for years before Pet Sounds. Frank Sinatra's 1955 concept album 'In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning' is an incredibly depressing album dealing themes of loneliness, introspection, lost love, failed relationships, depression and night life etc. That could be a huge starting point if we go back that far.

@TARANTULYN you're talking about 'scene', which is the fashion style with the huge ungodly (emphasis on that) hair and dye. those bands are also mostly alternative rock or metalcore. you were there in 2009 but not where real emo was, you were there with the rawr xD kids. Side Note: A Day To Remember is one of my favorite fucking bands in the world, and I can't tell you how much it hurts to see them classified under "real emo".

I wish it never became about the image. Back in the 80's 90's and 00's it was about the passion and the art, now it's a bunch of fan girls who obsess over Gerard Way.
