Hi there! The insurance will not pay for it. However if you reach out to your local Reginal center and provide a denial letter they will get it for him. You can also reach out to the district and ask for one. That’s how Ashy got hers through the district it transports with her from home to school and from school to home. I have several of videos with this information. Ashy is 11 yrs and is non verbal. 💙

And they also provided the app strictly for communication is called TouchChat!

Christian isn’t enrolled in school currently so I don’t think the district will provide him one unfortunately. I am looking at our local support group as they have an iPad scholarship program. 😆💙

Surprisingly I didn’t even know what that was until I googled it just now 😆
I have seen and heard a little about it but never have fully looked into it.

@@ROCKNSTIMS I assumed he was doing school at home. Ashy started school services at home since she was 2. It might be different in NV. This was aside from ABA.

That makes me so mad for you girl!!
Obviously the people you talked to on the phone are not the ones at fault, just the messengers, but its disgusting how insurances can be so grody and get awaY with it just to get out of spending money!
Laws definitely should change, if they dont make insurance providers cover Essential Special Needs Equipment like a Speech Device, then that state needs a program that steps in to provide one free of charge.
We are in the process now, our therapist and a kind of liaison team is deciding what loaner ti try first, and then we will start the process to finding his device for the next 3 to 5 years.
I hope everything works out, things like this really get me man.
    The painting is beautiful ❤

My son does what Christian does.... when he gets real near our faces and wants to look at us in the eyes he usually wants our attention.

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  3 года назад +1

Yes! I always know he wants my attention. I don’t always know what exactly he wants tho 😔. Sometimes I get it loud and clear , like when I’m talking to his therapist and he’s been waiting by the door for a min. He will walk up to me and do the deep stare near my face thing and I know he is telling me he’s ready to go 😂💙

I'm a speech therapist... devices can be expensive but imo they are worth it. Insurance is always going to fight against it and schools are really reluctant to give good devices.
FWIW my opinion is that a device that uses lamp (language acquisition thought motor planning) seems to be very very effective. Lamp is not for everyone.. but it has significant benefits over other programs..
Not cheap.. I think it's like 400 dollars and I think it goes on sale 1x a year.
    I'm rooting for you guys

You could try the lamp app it works great for my daughter. The app is about 350 but it was worth every penny. The school system provided it at first after I found it worked I purchased it for her home iPad.

We pulled him his school and filled out paperwork . One form stating our intent to homeschool, and the other detailing what we would be learning. Once they received that we were fine to start.

You can always buy the device and the Proloque2Go program and than put it on your taxes so you can get the money back. Also school can provide a device with the program installed already on it
