I just bought an HD1. I like my MD-2017 and MD-380s, but I'm really going to use this 10W/8W to hit the 2 repeaters from inside my house. As always, great review. K9CQB
AHHHH you made me get one! It's an amazing radio and mode, I gotta say. It's awesome how you got your repeater up there as well. I can't seem to access the KB1YBB repeater whenever I'm coming up that way, but I can hit yours just fine. Strange. I'm usually just outside its range, but I'll be sure to check in whenever I get the chance. Thanks a bunch! 73 de KJ4CKR
Hey this is awesome thank you great review. Definitely will be getting one of these until something better comes out you know how that goes. Thanks again
Have had this radio for a while now and have been unable to program it via computer, could NEVER get it to link with the radio, kept getting comm error. Basically gave up despite repeated conversations with retevis.
FYI when you do your user db upload to the radio you DO NOT put it in program mode(PTT and upper button) turn the radio on plug it in the the computer open the software put the file in and click WRITE then it will send the file to the radio.
Not sure if you have already done a video or not but I’m looking at the HD1 and the Rugged spot. What video I’m looking for is how to program a zone for the hot spot thanks
Hi Eric. The reason that your Contacts list did not display the User information is that the .csv file you imported was of the incorrect format. Check out the Headers of the Address Book contacts as compared with the details in the actual columns. See from 10:15... Call Type should display Private and not the Call ID etc... The correct formatted columns is important and unlike many other DMR radios like the MD-380's and so on! Have a look at AmateurRadio.digital for example!! Enjoy all your videos, 73, Brian EI8EJB
Love your vids... I know absolutely nothing about digital radio so a lot of stuff (code plug etc) is over my head. I've looked around yt but haven't found a "digital radio for dummies" yet. Any suggestions of where to begin? 73 Tim KF7VUT
I got my HD1 on DMR through a repeater. What advantage will the RUGGED SPOT will give to me? Can I connect that way to another country repeater? Thanks.
Be warned that the HD1 can't decode color code and timeslot. Only talkgroup. That is equivalent to being able to scan frequencies on analog but you are stuck with one CTCSS tone. You can't hear anything if your CTCSS tone is not matching. Same case with color code, you can't hear anything unless you have the right color code.
Yes i have the HD1 and with Firmware V1.5.3 and it is a very good Radio. There are only two negative points about this Radio. 1. Even after the new Update and External Mic you have low Audio Volume on Analog Tx. The 2nd thing is the most important. The Radio has NO Superheterodyne Receiver! A 0.5w radio from 5 meters is enough to make your Rx on the HD1 completly dead!
Can anyone help me with a problem with my HD1 the battery percentage indicator is stuck at 100% on one hand held but on the other hand held when I swap batteries it shows the accurate percentage how can I resolve this I've swapped it between 4 batteries does the same thing and I even updated the firmware to 1.54. And if it means anything I have the GPS model
Does it allow you to enter a frequency and decode the CC, TS, and TG being received and display that data on the screen ? My biggest issues with DMR is that the radios do not decode on the fly and do not display the CC,TS and TG that are in use, so I don't hear the transmissions and I can not tell what settings are being used.
I have one of this radio and it has been the best decision of my life. Great quality and audio.
How does the HD1 perform in analog.

This is the radio I’m buying thanks for the video. I’m going to wait till Shark RF comes out with its WiFi.
Thanks for the demo / review. I'd love to hear some comparisons or opinions on the HD-1 vs. the new BTech DMR-6X2.

OK.... Thanks for the information
What was the name of the unit the guy was talking about on the other end waiting for it to come out in august? I couldn't make it out
If you like that one you should really look at the Btech 6x2.
i noticed last nite that Retevis has changed the web site and i cant see anymore firmware upgrades for the HD-1. your thought?
www.ailunce.com/Support/Software

you can talk to any one in the world on DMR with a hotspot when you are nowhere near range of a DMR repeater.
Thanks a lot. KD2QMZ. 73.
Does it receive on airband?
