Epic.......,and i ever thought I know every song Al Stewart ever played.Great and thanks.A Bob Dylan song covered by the hidden world artist Al Stewart fitts.Greetings from Germany.
I love hearing Al Stewart's patter. He's always such a cutie. The original nerdcore. Thanks for including that... Along with a brilliant interpretation of Watchtower that isn't Dylan's, isn't Jimi's, it's all theirs. Love it.
I am soooo glad RUclips surfaced this in my recommends. I had no idea Al Stewart had covered this. Awesome! I suppose it is because I had been listening a lot of Al Stewart on RUclips recently.
ROCKPOCRYPHA: The chord pattern of Watchtower is the same as Stairway To Heaven and Ashes Are Burning by Renaissance. Andy Powell played guest guitar solo on that Renaissance classic.
Bob Dylan is an outstanding songwriter. I apologize, as I don't care for his voice. Al's voice, in my humble opinion, presents Dylan's songs with more finesse.
Sadly, this is NOT commercially available. The source material of this recording came from the archives of Neville "The Devil" Judd, who may or may not be actively selling his bootlegged wares...

Isaac was a good friend. He got me up to jam on this very song in Glasgow 1987. I was 21 and so far out of my depth it was comical. He was always very encouraging and inspiring. His son Jake has his dads looks and his guitars....and plays them well!
Met Al several [2007] years back...his intellect is miles above!

He tells a good shaggy dog tale.

Just proves Al Stewart is the genius I always thought he was.
Ilove Al Stewart
WISHBONE AL !!
I am a fan of Wishbone Ash ( 1974 ), and of Al Stewart ( 1975 )...great version !
I am also, and would have never have imagined them together! I can definitely hear the Wishbone Ash guitar sound. Amazing.
Awesome version, love Al!
Heading out to see him tomorrow (9/8/23). Wonder if he could be persuaded to do this one?
ありがとう。
これを聞けてとても嬉しい。

Thumb of rule for a Dylan song: As opposed to most other artists the cover is usually better than the original.
FANTASTIC!!!
Wow.....just.....wow.....
Anyone notice the similarity to Paint by numbers from 24 carrot?
Full match,Sir! Yes , I agree, parts are taken for paint by numbers .🎶👏 ! Such a beautiful song.
Hurricane would be a good song for Al to do?
Where can I buy this!!! Fantastic.

Are there both lead guitar man from wishbone ash - Andy Powell and Laurie Wisefield? Any other members of wishbone ash on the table?
You are correct, both Andy & Laurie from Wishbone Ash are on this, along with the deceased Isaac Guillory ( The Cryan' Shames)...
Isaac deserved a bigger drum roll!

I saw Isaac perform at McCabe's a few years before he passed. An amazing guitarist he cetainly was.

When and where was this recorded?
I need to check, but off hand ... at the Cambridge Folk Festival...
It was at a club in northwest London - sorry, can't remember the name, but I was there. Thanks, James!
@@donaldkennedy6821 Was it the Town & Country Club in c.1987/88?
$o trippy.
you know what I love Stewart but even he and 3 top guitarists (!) cant match Jimi
