NOTE: 5:00 / 7:17 - If you're unlocking a Pint X, you will need to go to the 'Flash' tab instead of the 'Backup' tab. The 'Extractor' is not compatible with the Pint X.
@@kevinaustin2115 To clarify, the backup process doesn’t produce the firmware files. It only produces a bootloader-settings file that is the basis for running firmware to the microcontroller. For information on Gemini - 5076, feel free to send an email at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
@@fixmypev back to what Kevin asked. During this video you state that you CAN do this with the pint x, but you are showing only the Pint being autoflashed through ffmwheel, which pint x is not compatible, you have to upload the firmware through the "Flash" section. Where do you find the file to flash onto the pint x? Are you able to show the process of getting the "downgraded" firmware onto a pint x?
The Pint X is compatible with the ‘FLASH’ function of FFMWheel, but nothing else. The Gemini - 5076 file can be located on the ‘RESOURCES’ tab. As for the process: - Unlock w/ Unlocker Tool - Navigate to ‘FLASH’ tab on FFMWheel - Flash Gemini - 5076 The only difference between this and the OG Pint process is that you can’t ’BACKUP’ or ‘PATCH’ the Pint X. Only ‘FLASH.’
Absolute game changer! I bought a Pint pre-owned, saw there was a firmware update when first connecting it and, downloaded it without thinking anything of it. I was so pissed when I realized how much the haptic buzz update screws you out of.
This literally saved my riding. I wasn't enjoying riding outside of my commute because of haptic buzz. My Pint X would dip the nose if i even hit a crack in the pavement because of the haptic buzz. I also thought that i had wrecked my battery during the winter since my board would just feel sluggish even at 70-80%. Now, it may be placebo, but my board feels much better down past 50% now and the nose doesn't give out to cracks in the road. It also seems like the battery just lasts longer in general. Now a quick tip with the Pint X process, have the unlocker tab and the flash tab open and pair the board to both tabs and get the flash page ready and loaded all the way to the point of clicking the flash button. Then do the steps for the unlocker and then hit flash right away once the unlocker shows the green text. I think it all has to be done in less than 20 seconds give or take. That's how I got mine to work after many attempts since I didn't realize I could pair to both tabs at the same time. Thanks for saving my board!
just posted this on reddit but wanted to paste it here as well: I've had my pint since 2020. Once I got the knack of it I wanted more range. Didn't necessarily care about going much faster but range anxiety was real. A couple years later a friend of mine installed the chi quart battery along with a new Burris wheel from TFL and that changed everything for me. Fast forward a couple years later and OW came out with their haptic buzz update. I mistakenly installed it and had no clue that by doing so would basically mean my quart wasn't being fully recognized. Like so much that I started getting power surges in places I hadn't before. The same friend took my board, flashed the firmware (thanks ffmwheel!), and made it so that pushback doesn't occur until 20mph. I have always been a slower rider usually averaging around 11-12mph. Now I'm riding at 14-16 and I can't even begin to describe how this has increased my overall confidence in the board. It's a wonderful and freeing feeling that I never experienced early on and it rides leaps and bounds better now. At this point, I don't feel a huge rush anymore to upgrade to a bigger board because this one is serving me so well right now. Just wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with everyone...cheers!
Thanks so much for this video. It brought new life to my OG pint. It now keeps up with my XR and more comfortably. I hit 20 mph quite often without any sign of failure. Of course I am very safe and wear gear. Been riding OneWheel for about 4 years too. Anyway thanks again for, bless up
Bruhhhhh! so gratefull for this, the haptic buzz killer was taking away the last little slice of the available duty cycle! I can finally go downhill again with this bad boi
Thank you so much for this information. You've earned a subscriber! I've been looking for a pint for a friend of mine. He turned me onto OneWheels and I just listen to him talk. I found a used pint with 5314 Hardware and Gemini 5100 firmware and remember him saying he can make 5314 behave like an XR by rewheeling it (I thought he meant getting a new rim and motor). After watching this, now I fully understand what he was saying. I hope I can use this info and get it all set up for him to give him on his bday which is next week. Thank you so much. I hope it works! I'm picking up the used Pint today.
Amazing, now please please get an Xr down grade sorted! Updated by accident and now my cbxr isn’t working on the new upgrade. Gutted! Thanks for all your hard work in the community my friend 🙏
That would be amazing, but it’s unlikely to happen. Even after putting in a ton of effort to obtain backups from the various hardware models, we don’t have access to all of the firmware we need. Would be a sizable operation with little to no benefit. 🫤
What do u suggest I do? Maybe stick a vesc focer 3 in it? Would that give me the full capacity back? Super gutted this has happened. Fm are really holding onto everything and it’s not fair.
Just down graded the pint and converted to firm are to an xr for custom shaping. Amazing man. Thank you and really hope someone sorts out a patch for my now retired cbxr
Thanks for the video. It went very quickly and included examples of rewheeljng and connecting to program that may it be necessary depending on the board? Can you post a step by step, in text, for pint and one for PintX, please? Including links and verbiage around what to do and where to click?
You’re welcome! And thanks for the feedback. For the Pint X, the only difference is that you jump straight to the ‘Flash’ tab instead of the ‘Backup’ tab. I’ve added a pinned comment with that info for now. If there’s enough demand for separate videos, I may look into that in the future. The highlight of the video is the unlocker tool. 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
That is not necessary or recommended. Generally, you can just turn the board on and complete the downgrade process. As a precaution, make sure your battery is charged to at least 30% or more. This ensures the board will not die midway through the downgrade process.
The steps for that part of the process can be referenced in my 'firmware modification' video. Although you don't have to apply custom patches if you don't want to. The backup process remains the same either way. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
@fixmypev No. When I try load the file it keeps saying 'failed to find key for decryption'. So I'm stuck with this flashing light and the app is telling me to update or the board may be unresponsive. What do I do?
Fantastic!! Thank you SO much for sharing!! I have several homies here in Costa Rica who want to upgrade to a Quart battery and haven't been able to since the haptic buzz update 😓. The quart makes a HUGE difference for folks on group rides, as the OG Pint battery (especially on an older board) is a joke.
@@bradonnewcomb960 Not yet 😅 No homies have taken the leap, I'm afraid. I'd recommend doing this process first, and if it does get rid of the haptic buzz and the firmware version has gone down, you'll know you can go grab that quart!
Thanks bro ! The main reason I want to downgrading my pint is, to replace the battery to custom made one or Chi battery, whill this downgrading work with that battery plan?
You’re welcome. And yes. 👍🏼 You would use the unlocker tool and then use FFMWheel (ReWheel) to flash patched Gemini - 5040 firmware to the board. There are some settings designed to aid with the use of aftermarket batteries.
I am stuck. I have an OG pint 2021 model. I followed all the steps in the video and now I have the rainbow colors. You’ve direct people to another video but the next steps are not clear. Can you help?
@@fixmypev thank you! While you’re here, I also have a brand new pint x I plan to do this with. It is on hardware 7325 and firmware Hydrus - 5200. From your video I think this hardware is safe. Can you confirm?
It all actually depends on the bootloader version so you’d want to check with the unlocker tool first. It’ll tell you if your bootloader is compatible. However…if you’re already on Hydrus - 5200, Future Motion has blocked Bluetooth downgrading. If you want to unlock that board, I offer a hardware downgrade service. You can contact me at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
@@Steveneven92 You should be able to go ahead and flash Gemini - 5040 now. You can also apply patches to the firmware using FFMWheel, but if you didn’t get a bootloader-settings file, you’ll need to complete the process outlined in the following video first: ruclips.net/video/OT6Wd7G6haY/видео.html
Hey, I have a quick question, and I hope you can answer it for me. I'm about to downgrade a pint from 5100 so I can calibrate the tilt only for wtf rails. It has a chi quart s battery upgrade. It will be going to my nephew for Christmas, so I don't need to rewheel or change other settings. My question is, after I complete the tilt, can I still use the ow app? Would the board brick if I update it in the ow app? Is the new battery going to be an issue? I don't mind the haptic buzz because my nephew is 7 years old.
@barni3841 everything worked out just fine. Battery was charged to 100% before I started. Once I downgraded i was able correct the tilt using nrf without using the ow app in the process.
After you complete the tilt, yes, you can still use the app. As for the battery, it is not advised to update again afterward because the newer firmware generally flags abnormal battery usage and limits the capacity of aftermarket batteries which defeats the purpose.
Damn I have a pint x I was hoping I could downgrade it has heptic but I believe it was installed and not bought with heptic does that make a difference in being able to rewheel the pint x
Hey man I just rode my Onewheel pint for the first time in 6-8 months but it threw me off my board twice in a row while travelling roughly 10MPH. The motor jittered and stopped for a split second. Why is this happening ??

Hi Justin- I just rewatched this and have some questions, if it's okay. I just grabbed an OG Pint 5314 on Gemini 5100. My goal is to Rewheel it to 5040 but the Rewheel instructions says "This process is not compatible with firmware version Cassiopeia - 6153+ (GT) or Gemini - 5100+ (Pint)." 1) Is this correct, can 5100 not be Rewheeled? 2) Or, can I downgrade it first to 5076 (not sure if this is only for the Px?). Then once the fw is downgraded to 5076, try the Rewheel process to get it down to 5040? 3) Or, can I downgrade it first to 5040 then, once then, try the Rewheel? Thanks!
Gemini - 5100 cannot be Rewheeled, but you’re on the right train of thought. You can 100% downgrade first and would flash Gemini - 5040. Gemini - 5076 is only for the Pint X as you were thinking. Using this video as well as the ReWheel one should have you all taken care of!
@@fixmypev Awesome- thanks! I tried to Rewheel but gets stuck at the extraction (after dumping boot loader and settings) at 16%. The first time, the boards turned off and lightbar turned multicolor. I was able to flash it back to 5040 but can’t seem to Rewheel. It now shows 5312/5040 (it was 5314/5100)- I should still be able to Rewheel right with this version, right?
Yes. Also, it normally only freezes if you tap the ‘DUMP BOOTLOADER’ button too quickly after flashing the extractor. Try waiting 10 seconds after the extractor is flashed before you proceed.
Hey FixMyPEV! I followed your instructions but got an error back from the unlocker tool. It says that my hardware is 5314 and firmware 5100 which should be fine according to your video but it says that by board isn't supported and continuing will likely lead to it getting bricked.
Obviously that's pretty spooky but Is it telling me that making "rewheel mods" with the current firmware will brick it, or with that my pint is completely incompatible and even trying to downgrade to 5050 will brick it?
Hey! Sorry to hear about that. If you get an error with that tool, I don't recommend moving forward with the process. Would you mind messaging me at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us with more info about the error your getting?
Sick thanks man. Now the quart is an option once again!!! Unfortunately or fortunately i already ordered a Floatwheel but may still throw a quart in this pint so i can have a lightweight and a heavyweight board option....
5301 hardware should be okay then? I just bought used older (possibly 2021) pint. The app kept sending my the update firmware seemingly without thw ability to opt out. Also wanting to rewheel the pint as well, upgrade to quart battery as well ❤
I'm not sure if I screwed myself or not.. I accidentally skipped to reboot and didn't dump bootloader or settings first. I re-downloaded 5100 to get back to base, I'm doing it again and now it is only loading 10% on dump bootloader and seems to be stuck, waited about 5 to 10 min and it didn't budge, same with dump settings 😐@fixmypev
@fixmypev maybe I could send you an email of my current issue 🙏 I may have made a huge mistake.. my board currently is missing it's hardware entirely 😕 I accidentally hit reboot after the flash backup.. I hope there's still a way to revert back.. OW app is now saying to go to support and download new hardware 😬
Err not, by the time i added up what i needed to build it was going to be another 2 mpnths b4 i had the money, by then summervacation would be over, PintX it is hopfully we can un-nerf it

This is very helpful thanks for the video! So I have a few questions. Does the app show the accurate firmware it is now on? (My app says my firmware is a 5040 after I went through your "Onewheel Firmware Modification: Improve Performance of Your GT & Pint." Does this make my board compatible with 3rd party batteries now? (Quart's website says confirmed working with 5314/Gemini 5050). Lastly, what's a safe pushback value to set my pint at? Theoretically with a quart and stock battery? Thanks so much.
Yes, the app shows the accurate firmware. 5040 is correct so you can use an extended range battery. As for the top speed value, I generally don’t recommend exceeding the Pint X value (1462) on the Pint. It’s all about risk tolerance though.
Okay I'm struggling here. My board is flashing red with Error 23, It connects on the Unlock Tool, but om the FFM wheel, I get an Update Error after trying to backup and hitting "Start Update." Am I screwed?
Hey. As long as you didn't receive a red warning message, you should be ok to proceed. However, it's a timing thing so you have to be ready to proceed with the FFMWheel process immediately after unlocking. If you need additional assistance, feel free to contact me at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
Thanks for the video. So helpful. Just bought a used board and was able to easily downgrade. One question : with XR spoofing on a Pint , does custom shaping work? Mine seems wonky.
It’s supposed to as long as you have enabled Custom Shaping via FFMWheel/ReWheel, but I haven’t done much testing with it. I’m happy with the base ride modes and I don’t spoof my boards. What seems wonky though?
@@TheWasch24 That's what it sounds like. Go through the process again if you haven't yet and it should work. Keep in mind, you'll need to redo the patches and then go straight to the 'Flash' tab since you won't be able to do a backup on a spoofed board.
I had mine set to the maximum value for the Pint (2000) in the video, but I generally don’t recommend setting it higher than the Pint X level (1462) when using a stock battery.
@@matttubbs8860 Nice! Still a decent benchmark. The general rule is 88.965 x MPH = Speed when pushback kicks in. The maximum value is not recommended as it virtually results in no pushback prior to nosedive speeds.

The flashing lights should not impact your ability to connect. Just make sure your phone (or any other device) isn’t connected to your board while you attempt to connect with the computer. And keep your board close to your computer.

I've had my pint since 2020.
Greetings i have a pint with a chi battery that i mistakenly upgraded and now its saying incompatible hardware, how did you get yours to work again ?

Thank you so much for this information. You've earned a subscriber! I've been looking for a pint for a friend of mine. He turned me onto OneWheels and I just listen to him talk. I found a used pint with 5314 Hardware and Gemini 5100 firmware and remember him saying he can make 5314 behave like an XR by rewheeling it (I thought he meant getting a new rim and motor). After watching this, now I fully understand what he was saying. I hope I can use this info and get it all set up for him to give him on his bday which is next week. Thank you so much.

You’re welcome! And thanks for the feedback. For the Pint X, the only difference is that you jump straight to the ‘Flash’ tab instead of the ‘Backup’ tab. Hello, haven’t found answer for this question, so: should charger be plugged to the board while downgrading software?
That is not necessary or recommended. Generally, you can just turn the board on and complete the downgrade process. As a precaution, make sure your battery is charged to at least 30% or more. This ensures the board will not die midway through the downgrade process.
Thank you for sharing this good stuff. I found my pint pleasure back again.
That’s awesome! Glad I could help. Stay safe out there! 🤙🏼⚡️💯
what do we do with the final step choices are dump the bootloader, dump settings or reboot? Then how do you bybass the app demanding to update?

You can’t exactly ReWheel a Pint X at this time, but you may be able to downgrade your firmware (assuming no warning messages on the unlocker tool).

My goal is to Rewheel it to 5040 but the Rewheel instructions says "This process is not compatible with firmware version Cassiopeia - 6153+ (GT) or Gemini - 5100+ (Pint)."
1) Is this correct, can 5100 not be Rewheeled?

I have a 5301 Pint on 5100 firmware. Is it really as easy as going to the site to downgrade it? Does it still work?
Yes, it’s generally that easy. Check the unlocker tool to make sure you have a supported bootloader version. I’d imagine you do given that you’re working with a 5301 board.
So hardware 5326 and Gemini 5100 won’t work

So I have a few questions. Does the app show the accurate firmware it is now on? (My app says my firmware is a 5040 after I went through your "Onewheel Firmware Modification: Improve Performance of Your GT & Pint."
Does this make my board compatible with 3rd party batteries now?

Yes, as long as the board is 5314 hardware or lower. And you can use your Android phone, yes. Just have to be quick after the board is unlocked or you’ll have to restart the process. It’s easier on the computer.
I have pint hardware 5314 and firmware 5100, will this work?
Yessir! If you ever have any other models you’re curious about, check the video and description for known compatibility info. 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
On the OG pint, I cannot pass dumping bootloader. Board have been downgraded and when I try to dump bootloader it is stuck on random values from 9 to 17% :(
I think now its just bricked xD
It’s unlikely that it’s permanently bricked. If you still need help, feel free to send an email at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
@@fixmypev Thanks for reply! After numerous tries, I have made it and dumbed bootloader. Thanks for your great guides!
@@Skarodwex You’re welcome! Glad you got it. 🤙🏼⚡️💯
@@Skarodwex hi! can you please describe how you retried this process to dump bootloader and how much tries you needed? :) I tried 2 times, was scaried because it makes boards firmware corrupted, each time I got to official app to restore Gemini 5100. And Extract bootloader then hang again on 5-10%.
@@viper0tz To be honest I was just trying. Also thought that the board is bricked and that's the end but after some time the bootloader just passed. Do not worry about bricking it, if the red light flashes, just restart the board and try again ;D
Has anyone tried this on PintX Hardware 7326? I installed wtf rails and need to relevel but am afraid of bricking the board.
This has been tested on 7326, but does not work for all 7326 boards (FM uses different bootloaders).
Your best bet is to use the unlocker tool to see if your BL version is supported. If you get a red warning message, DO NOT PROCEED (or you will likely brick your board).
If you have any additional questions about the process, feel free to message me at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
Does this reset the app odometer?
No, it does not.
Thank you! Is something like this possible for the GT? If not today, in the future?
You’re welcome! And that’s an entirely different animal. But nothing’s impossible… 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
@@fixmypev is it possible if you could make a video on how to do it or make a guide? I really want to get rewheel on my gt again.
@@jonathanvalesa1598 I’m sorry. Make a video or guide on what exactly?
@@fixmypev on how to downgrade my firmware on a gt to an older one so i can install rewheel. like i have an ST-link and i need help installing it and then downgrading it so i can flash rewheel on it.
@@jonathanvalesa1598 Not gonna happen, unfortunately. The DMCA prohibits sharing informations/tools that aid in the circumvention of technological copyright protection measures.
So basically if you get the newest Pint X with Haptic buzz, there'll never be a way to mod it?
Depends on the hardware version. If it’s above 7326, potentially not. 😬
@@fixmypev so can you do this if the pint x is at 7326?
@@leezeylee323 Correct. It just hasn’t been tested above 7326.
Does this downgrade process work for GT?
please i want to know to im stuck in 6153
It does not, but I offer a downgrade service if you're interested. You can contact me at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us for more info.
Once downgraded, wouldn’t we keep on getting the upgrade message from app again?
If you have 5314 hardware, no (because 5040 causes it to identify as 5312). Since 5312 isn’t a recognized hardware version, the update prompt never comes; as of now.
I made mine present itself as an XR to remove that update message
@@weberito That's another way to do it. 👍🏼
Hello and thank you for this. Would anyone know if this works on a Pint X with 7314? Thanks!
You’re welcome. And yes. You can reference observed compatibility in the video description as well as within the video. 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
Will this work with pint x hardware version 7326
Yes. Per the video description: "has not been tested on Pint X hardware versions above 7326." 7326 is ok.
Thanks for the knowledge my man!!
You’re welcome! Hope it helps. 🤙🏼⚡️💯
If I don't have old Gemini 5076 firmware files for Pint X am I out of luck?
Yes, but it’s definitely out there. 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
I followed the video and my pint turned into a rainbow color. what do i do? I followed your video exactly and now it's saying im on firmware 65535 and HW 5000?
EDIT: I went through the entire rewheel process and it worked!
It sounds like you may have initially been stuck in the extractor mode. Glad it worked out for you!
I think you pressed the Reboot button after the firmware finished flashing (at least that's what I did). The video kind of glosses this part (around the 8 minute mark), so I wasn't entirely sure what to do. I think the correct answer is nothing. The board is good to go at this point.
Thanks for posting this though! I started freaking out and then saw your comment. Once I followed the whole Rewheel guide, everything was good to go!
@@Cybercomet333 Glad you got it handled! In this video, I wanted to focus solely on the unlocking aspect because I already have a ReWheel video, but I plugged that one as well (2:17, 9:44, Video Description). Enjoy the freedom! 🤙🏼⚡💯
If i update again through the app, will it undo all the patches? If so, can i no longer use the app?
If you update through the app, it will overwrite (remove) the patches. You can use the Onewheel app either way, but if you’re running older firmware, it may ask you to update unless you use airplane mode or block data/wifi to the app.
What about xr board riders?? 😢
There are no downgrade options for the Onewheel XR at this time.
So I can custom shape my pint x for wtf rails???
You can level your rails, yes. It’s not custom shaping though. Just an IMU calibration via the Onewheel’s factory mode.
Just so I have this straight. Once I've down graded..I'll have the ability to use nrf to re-level??
Correct. nRF Connect, OWDT, etc.
> has not been tested on Pint X hardware versions above 7323.
unlocker has been developed on a 7326 board.
Updated. Thanks. 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
NEED this for my GT. Update killed my WTF rails
Would be nice. 💯
Fm isnt going to patch this next week are they?
They can’t patch old firmware. So, as long as you don’t update your firmware to an unsupported version, you’re good.
@@fixmypev ofc but would be nice if this was always something that could be accessed. Probably not since we cant have nice things.
Also why do you think new pints cant use it? You said the bootloader is different but why wouldnt they apply the same changes to the OTA update
@@NeedNot It ultimately is something that can always be accessed; provided that you download the offline files and don't update the Pint you're riding to an unsupported firmware version down the road (FM can patch future firmware updates to block this, but can't force you to update).
And new Pints can't use it because Future Motion designed the bootloaders differently. The reason why they wouldn't apply the same changes is only known by them. When you do a firmware update, the bootloader isn't usually impacted. However, it was with some of the XRs updating to the haptic buzz firmware (Gemini - 4165). So, we can't put anything past FM at this point...
Nice job! Idk about pushing 20mph on a Pint lol
Definitely not a good idea to go much faster than that with a stock battery. 🤣
Thanks for sharing dude.
You’re welcome! 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️
I wiah i still had the app for my xr but the haptic shit can buzz off
Airplane mode is what I use any time I want to open the app. Otherwise, I keep it connected, but minimized to avoid the ‘UPDATE’ popup.
¿¿My Hardware is 5315 so im basically fucked right ?? Got the Onewheel months before the haptic buzz
This process has not been tested with 5315 hardware as far as I know. As a result, I am unable to advise on whether or not there is risk involved. If you’re willing to experiment (there is a risk of bricking your board) feel free to email me at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
Thank you Bro ♥️
You’re welcome. Hope it helps! 🤙🏼⚡️🖤
ReWheeling a pint X is possible. Just have to load pint firmware on it, relatively long and complicated method but indeed possible.
Yessir. Have to turn it into a Pint first. 🤣
How’s your Pint X running by the way?
Curious about this. My pint X was just updated to 5100. How would I go about turning it into a pint in order to then re wheel?
@@jordanwilliams618 That's an entirely different (and extremely involved) can of worms. 🪱
“Let’s find out”
👀
mine wont get past the connect stage and I get an error that says GATT Server is disconnected. Cannot retrieve services. (Re)connect first with `device.gatt.connect`.
If you’re still having trouble, send me a message at www.fixmypev.com/contact-us.
Hi, I also got this error message when trying to connect with a desktop PC (Windows 11). I am not sure of the cause, but when I tried with a laptop (Windows 10) it connected correctly. The unlocker then "worked", but unfortunately I still can't backup the firmware yet...
I managed to backup the firmware etc. The trick (I found) as mentioned in the video is to be super quick between patching and "retry" backup.
@@RatKitesurfer I've had trouble with Windows 11 as well. Not 100% sure why, but it has worked for me on Mac OS (Sanoma 14.4.1) too.
@@RatKitesurfer Awesome! Glad you got it. It times out quickly.
