MORNING! By popular request, there's now a timecode for all the Q in the description... ALSO DON'T FORGET TO SMAAAAASH THAT LIKE BUTTON
What is your fav digital amp modeler?
Hi ola, what pickups are in ur new Strat? They sound amazing!
Borrow a vintage Marshall and do a will it chug, with the strat !
Hell Yeah, I Fucking Love DOKKEN!!! \m/
(Reference to George Lynch)
If you like Lynch and Rhoads give Jake E Lee's Badlands a listen, you will not be disappointed. By the way, the secret to Lynch's Under Lock and Key tone is a Rockman Distortion Generator stacked with amp gain.(worth buying, they even sound great with a Jazz Chorus, not an easy feat)
All the Strat love is amazing!! #Dadguitar!
Nothing like a modded Strat with a humbucker that's way too hot, like a JB or something like that.
love my strat I bought several months ago
You need to be asleep Rob
@@ironz18 Right... A JB is an SH-4 (or TB-4) for Strats... I put an TB-5 Custom in my Strat (which is a bit hotter) about two years ago and it is fucking HEAVY!
OMG ROB WATCHES OLA MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE
Randy Rhoads is buried down the street from me in San Bernardino, CA. Whenever you're ever in LA again you should make the drive out and check it out. It's definitely a vibe there.
I totally agree with u. I've been there 3 times.
I totally agree with u. I've been there 3 times.
The poppy part had me dying, solid laugh at that reaction.
Same here.
Yeah I really have NO idea why Sumerian Records are pushing her so hard, I actually unfollowed them on Facebook because of it haha.
@@chrisfurlong5094 Probably because they think they can cash in on it. And by it I mean Poppy. Not worthy of being a human.
Because she made a heavier metalish turn in her last few songs and her touring with BMTH probably
IcedVengence lol “metal-ish” yeah BMTH is hardly even “metal-ish” anymore but I guess they’re just doing what’s best for their bands career to make money can’t say I blame them. Poppy however is just a bit of a stretch to make a metal cash cow haha.
As the great Freddie Mercury said "I'm just a musical prostitute my dear". Keep killing it Ola!
@WORST CHANNEL EVER he was a legend regardless
As a portuguese guy, it's awesome that you like Moonspell.
Underapreciated band here in Portugal.
Irei ao show aqui no Porto 😍😍😍
Até que em fim que aparecem tugas!
@@fokkwasabi infelizmente tenho de dizer que sou brasileiro LOL, mas um que adora tugas, Portugal e Moonspeell 😊
Love the introduction to time stamps for questions! Was just thinking that'd be nice while watching some yesterday!
love the time stamps in the description. :) helps a lot. thanks
Hi Ola, great show, as always.
Candlemass are coming to Stockholm on april 11th and 12 2020. Playing two albums integrale. I'm there!
Type O Negative: “It’s metal for horny chicks, basically.” -Ola Englund, October 2019
From Ola’s future book, Hilariously Accurate Summaries.
Sgt. Rock this is literally the most accurate description of Type O Negative I’ve ever heard!
I know a lot of men who like them, myself included. But yeah..
Chris Ian I bought October Rust when it was new and it’s *still* great...but yeah, it’s got an undeniable appeal to chicks with black lipstick who try to draw blood when they give a hickie.
October Rust is the perfect album for a rainy fall day, especially up north where the leaves turn.
Its so true. Kenny and peter themselves have reported to have developed this style to get goth chicks
Thanks for these videos man, you are one of my inspirations in the guitar vlogging world!
It was an amazing FAQ man as always , love you and your awesome channel too , full of energy and positive vibes 😉🤟
What about a coffee with Peter Tägtgren?
Yes please ... Ola get to it!
YES PLEASE!!
*yes*
thatd be über awesome!
Heck yeah! Used to listen to the old Satanic lyric Hypocrisy albums, Obsculum Obscenum and the one before that. Can't remember the name. There's a badass solo on one of the Obscenum songs where he whammy bars the crap out of the guitar at the end of it.
You have the sickest headstock. It's one of the main reasons I love solar guitars. Personally, I'm always pleased to hear you have no plans on changing it.
Stopped this vid to go watch Shred Wars. Your leads had all the feels! So much soul and great ideas and technique. So damn cool!
Hi Ola! Cool that you're going to check out more of Randy Rhoads! He's the reason that I started playing guitar, and he was a huge influence on a lot of people, including Dime! Love your channel! Keep up the good work!
"Lars Ulrich... one of the most influential metal bands of all time."
- Ola Englund, 2019
The fact he skipped over the solar amp and pedal part of the question single confirmation lol
i know hahahaahahahhahaha
He kind responded about the amp situation. It is costly, so with a campany whit the size Solar has, probably no. But the pedals are an open situation I guess.
Loved seeing you shred with Jared Dines as well!! It was good to see that you took yourself out of your comfort zone!!
Amps are definitely not dead for me, I love my Katana 50! The simplicity/tactile satisfaction of not messing with a computer interface is my favorite part about it.
Lynch Mob- Wicked Sensation is one of of my favorite old school albums killer all the way through amazing guitar work
Coffee with Ola with Ricardo Amorim from Moonspell. Very underrated guitarrist.
Nice to hear a humble man. Thanks for the video.
Another awesome FAQ, Ola!🤘🏻
Hey Ola, are there gonna be more Solar guitar form factors, like a Tele cut or SG style? Keep up the great work mate.
"..there's something missing in headless guitars...".. doh!
What an INTRO!! nice work Ola.
Its my birthday today OLA! Been sick the past 2 days and i gotta work 3rd shift tonight! Thank you for another great FAQ, love the new strat sounds badass
Dehumanize IS a great album! I also recommend Heaven & Hell's "The Devil You Know". And yeah, that was also my reaction to Poppy, though you should try a few of her recent music videos.
Hey Ola, i love your videos and keep up the good work, but i just wanna ask if there's any chance of Mikael Åkerfeldt appearing on Coffee with Ola?
Ola... very good video...the more I watch your videos the more impressed I get. It take a lot to influence and or impress me these days.... I 'm a old amp guy who has never used my computers for this (computer interface) matter ... DO you have or expect to have a video showing the basics of the different interfaces...I did however understand the (Extreme basics you showed here with the quicktime stuff ) .... I remember when quicktime fist came out in 99... Dam i'm old but still young at heart... Thanks again man
Ive been waiting your vids for an hour now and yes you release 112 FAQ GREETINGS from philippines.
keep chuging ola \m/
Had to laugh hard when i saw that the tone in the beginning came from a Strat! Beautiful
Ya with a humbucker in the bridge
Strats are awesome man ...
Yeah, with a humbucker, a Strat is right up there with any other assumed "metal guitar".... Likely a bit brighter than, say, a Les Paul, but a Strat can definitely still be heavy. Shit, Jim Root of Slipknot has a Telecaster that he had made for him... Just a common misconception.
Strats with single coils sound great for metal too
@@bipbipletucha Certain types of metal, maybe... I've had one electric guitar for 16 years and just 2 years ago put a Seymour Duncan TB-5 in the bridge of my Strat... Tried everything to get that modern "chug" outta my Deluxe Powerhouse Strat which even has a 12 dB mid boost in it, but couldn't quite get there. The hot humbucker sure got it there, though.
Check out Mr. Scary from Dokken. Probably my favorite George Lynch song. Randy Rhoads and the Tribute tab book is how I actually learned how to play guitar.
I teach music at a high school. Some of my students’ first experience with “amps” is through a Scarlett 2i2 into Logic Pro X with amp sims. They’re super invested in searching for their desired tones by trying different plugins, just as the older generations did specifically with pedals and other gear. I do have some students who appreciate the plugins but still prefer the analog gear. I’m super thankful that both are available and can sound great.
Love you bro! stay good 😎
Sooo coffee with Ola with Poppy?
Btw, recently I've been thinking about a coffee with Ola with Zakk Wylde, remembering and talking about Dime (and other stuff, too, of course), it would be awesome (and probably moving).
Luca Grossi Music - yeah man I’ve been thinking that’d be an awesome CWO. He and Zakk would get along great I think and the dimebag talk would be cool to hear!
Why I still remember "gratunka"?
Still waiting for a demo.
I appreciate your open mind, and appreciation for music. You are awesome with every angle you do with music. I am a guitarist myself and I love seeing other artists, players, and lovers of music. By the way love the Fender. I started with a mexican fender went to Jackson, went to Epiphone, found an 84 Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite in the early 2000's still float to different guitars but found a fender like the way you found yours. Found a 1970's Fender Reissue from 2001 but it is cranked. It has an Evh 1000 floyd, D tuna, and I believe it has the 2 dimarzio Billy Corgan pickups with a Cruzer in the middle. I love it, it has clean and dirty where I did not want to remove the pickguard because I am worried about distirbing the cavities of the guitar. The way it is now it is perfect.
Keep up the great work ola greetings from jacksonville fl
The riff of the day sounds a lot like Disciple by slayer
I just learned about Poppy at the same time as you did. And my reaction was exactly the same. Lol
Then she went on to making music
Same.
I had never heard of her and then I saw that and its the most bizarre shit ive ever seen. Like what???? Just twisted.
Sir, you did a fine job on the shred wars, you have some great chops yourself
G’day Ola - I don’t usually comment on RUclips videos... but just wanted to say thanks for your insights into the future of the amplifier market - thank you!
Love for MoonSpell. Opium was my introduction to the band.
Wolfheart
Darkness and hope
ALMA MATER!!!
In Italy we love to go for Ficas as well, but we’d get really disappointed in Sweden if someone would ask us to go for it, and it’s not about your coffee
"[fika] it's the most amazing thing I've eaten" XDDD
We know, bro. We know
@@marcoferrandi6191 "italian word of the day"
Ola: "Fika Bites"
Me: "Yeah, sometimes"
Awesome as always! And Randy Rhoads has always been my biggest influence! 🤘:)
Completly agree with the amp topic. I only have a recording preamp, that I'd use with some IRs in the mix, but I track my stuff with plugins as so I have a decent DI recorded (it's easier than to split the signal one to the preamp one to the DI etc). I often found myself keeping the tracked plugin version in the mix as it's just easier to change EQ settings on the amp sim than on the re-reamp on the hardware preamp. Plus the plugins get better and better
"I would like to listen more to Randy Rhoads, but I hadn't had the time". Dude passed away in '82 and you still didn't had time? I actually can really relate to that! :D
It's like all the people who haven't had the time to listen to Mozart.
Type O!
O
Strats my favs!had this same one!
Nice opening riffs and tone
22:20 your analysis on Lars is spot on. He was right about Napster all along, too.
The whole landscape has changed because of filesharing. Good or bad I think that's why we saw streaming services being pushed. Its a way to get their arms around it and for the rights to the music to retain its value in the long term. Still sucks for the musician. These days the only way to make money is to tour and create a "brand" rather than a band and sell merch.
Getting those Alice in chains riffs outta that Strat 🤘
I understand the convenience of amp modelers and I have been recently considering getting one for recording and flexibility. I still love my tube amp and will never get rid of it. It’s like getting in a classic car and feeling the rumble of the engine.
Ola, that intro is EPIC bro! Can you share what the Fender was tuned at and any pedals or effects used with us please? Keep up the tasty licks brotendo.
Fika means dried snot in Hungarian :D best organic snack ever :D
Hello, Ola! Can you please doing "Coffee with Ola" with Anders Nyström from Katatonia and Bloodbath or maybe with Dan Swanö. I think it will be great!
Dan swano would be awesome!
Dan Swano, definitely
That Strat sounds sick!!! Nice buy man!! 🤟
Thx for the Frederick interview. I could see you two as neighbors, building sheds, growing grass... etc...
Doom metal recommendations: The album 'Dopethrone' by Electric Wizard. It's the album that got me into doom metal, and trust me its stupidly heavy. Monnos by Conan is also great
Dopethrone is the sht :)
Solar amp 15, 20 and 50 watts under 1k hybrid tube/solid state to keep the price in check ;) Make it happen !! lol
opening with guitar riffs, that's a good call. love it.
George Lynch, and Randy Rhoads have been creating musical brilliance since the 70s and were overlooked from Van Halens overpowering guitar skills. George Lynch in Dokken and of course Ozzy's fist 2 solo albums is why I have been playing guitar for 20 years. You and Lynch have very close Birthdays. Thank you for continuing to keep heavy metal shredding alive and uplifting the spiritual souls of future and current guitar players. You are a inspiration not only in playing and in life as well.
What game are you playing in the background? Looks fun.
Yes, what is that? Looks amazing.

Hey Ola just listened to this video while driving to work this morning a great way to start the day. So if you REALLY want to do your “homework” on Lynch check out these Dokken Songs 1) Mr Scary 2) Lightning Strikes Again 3)Lost Behind The Wall 3 songs and you’ll have a solid understanding of his style. He’s the most underrated guitarist of the 80’s in my opinion and he’s the reason I started playing guitar. Just like you’re the reason I’m trying to start a RUclips channel, you’re amazing man keep up the good work!
Hey man! Grats on 400K Subs!
Doom Band recommendation... Pallbearer they're amazing
Their Type O negative cover was decent.
IcedVengence yeah that was great
games guitars and gore oh yeah they are great too!!
games guitars and gore yeah great thing about doom is theres so many good bands with similar traits but unique at the same time, i like Warning and 40w sun too for the other side of things 🙂
Monolord too
You should try Asphyx, they're "death doom" or something, amazing band
If hes a Bolt Thrower fan he probably should know Martin van drunan and asphyx, hail of bullets, early Pestilence etc
I need to check this
God i love Asphyx, they dont get enough love imo
@@craigjames1082 yep
@@craigjames1082 and then there's Soulburn which is members of asphyx...sorry was members of asphyx
Dude! That the riffs in Eldvag are AWESOME! More like that with Krimh please!
Definitely that guitar Sounds amazing, Glad to see you with a strat, it looks awesome too
Future modelers will model current modelers :D
I’m waiting for the day we see a Fractal do a Rockman or Pod model and everyone talks about how great they are for YT videos, but none of them actually plays in a band.
What game is on in the background???
Star Citizen
Also started playing with the Petrucci Jazz III picks. After a long time with the Dunlop Tortex, I'm finding the smaller pick tricky, but already noticing it's forcing me to focus on my right-hand technique. Enjoying them so far.
Dude, this is the first time I've watch any of your videos. Friggin cool man. subscribed and bell clicked. I'm not a huge heavy heavy metal fan. I'm an old 80's thrash guy. QUESTION: Other than the big 4, who are your go to thrash bands when that mood moves you?
Never heard Type O Negative and they were Pantera’s brothers back in the day?? That was my first show when I was 15 back in ‘95. Pantera/Type O. Omg
That is very true. Both bands were great friends saw them both together in UK and i dont see Type O as a Doom band at all they are a metal band with Gothic and punk influence.
I remember watching the pantera and type o video tapes where peter steele would prank pantera on stage and back in forth.. they looked like they had lots of fun..
Saw that tour back in 95 in Dallas. What a killer show!!!
You’re right, Terry.
Sean Antley: It must have been killer everywhere then.
I feel owning a physical amp forced me to practice more often since it’s more convenient to just plug in my guitar versus dealing computers interfaces and programs
I've found that I play less with a loud tube amp, since I feel bad using it often
Only if you have your amp with you at home cause most ppl have theirs in a rehearsal room so that they can fire it up. :)
And in that case they'd be too lazy to go practice playing just their amps.
Since I've had my kemper for home and live band use - I'm playing like 80% more despite having a 3 year old kid and a busy full time job. The kemper actually made me go back to guitar a lot more than when I had my mark 5, ksr, 5150, evh or fryette amp. those were just sitting in the room until we got to rehearse. Now it's - same tone at home/same tone live. Which is tits.
Agree, I have my guitar constantly set up at home with my Katana 50 which can do all sorts of different configurable modelling anyway, so I can get pretty much any style of tone out of it, and I can just switch it on and immediately start playing whether I'm using my computer or not. It plugs into my PC by USB so if I want to use headphones and play with any modellers I can.
Have you considered doing a "Will it Chugg?" series with some guitars that aren't typically associated with metal like a fretless fingerboard or hollow/semi hollow body? Love the series as a whole and keep on chugging!
Love your music Ola🤘🏻
Love the strat my d00d
When are we getting a fender style solar guitar?
you're so humble! of course we'll watch you play Master of the Universe on tour! if Delta Empire or Krimh can't play for the tour, I'll tour with you \m/
Hey Ola, your live stream of your solo record was kickass! Since you said you weren't sure about doing live shows for Master of the Universe, would you consider a live stream gig with a band and mulitple cameras? Love the channel! Keep up the awesome work!
I miss a time when everyone in big bands used either Marshall or mesa/boogie amps.
If you amp doesn't have enough power to kill you, is it really worth playing through?
Amen brother! I may be part of the younger generation, but nothing beats a high gain tube amp.
I second this man! Also, nice profile picture! RIP is in my top 5 favourite albums.
Why? You can't hear the difference live. Or even on records.
Some bands that came from the former members of Type O are decent but don't compare...
Seventh void
A Pale Horse Named Death
SilverTomb..
Ola! Thanks for the awesome content, as always. And yes, no headless guitars. I agree they look.. Strange.
My question is about the taxi-cab yellow Solar in the background of this video. I've seen it in several other FAQs as well, and I absolutely love that color. What's the story behind that one, and would that color be something you'd consider for production models? I'm saving for a Solar anyway, but that color is an insta-buy. 🤘 Thanks, man.
Damn love that fenders sound!
Hi Ola, greetings from a Swiss thrash band and big fans of yours. Do you know a lot of metal players with hearing loss and what earplugs do you recommend?
Ignored the Solar amps and pedals question... Conclusion: Solar Amplification confirmed
Aside from several reasons why the tube amp market isn't something you should set foot into
@@schantist that kind of reasoning never stopped Ola
!SH**T you know Moonspell! You just gone up 100 points in my consideration!!! Irreligious is one favorite albums to alongside WolfHeart! Kudos from Portugal :D
Great stuff
You need an automatic response sound bite for everytime someone asks about headless guitars. I mean they just look unfinished and weird. I like your reverse headstocks
The first time iv'e heard of being racist when it comes to negativity in tube amps. 11:12
It seems that nowadays any divergent opinion on anything gets the person who says it labelled racist.
Oh, I understand now why Fluff doesn't like Blackstar...
If anything it's biased..
Everything everywhere is always racist. Didn't you get the memo?
Best description of Eldvaag I've ever heard xD
Randy is the reason I play. Love the channel, thanks.
“I know you from somewhere”, “no you don’t”
Hahaha. Sounds like the time I met Matt Devries in the crowd at a Chimaira show. I was so excited and approached him and told him I loved his work and then It was awkward silence. I bet meet and greets are just hours of that same awkwardness.
Some musicians are great and talking to fans... other's just aren't xD
It just comes down to how comfortable they are with public speaking, some musicians are experienced enough that they can 'turn it on' and give you a great interaction, whilst some others may not handle the pressure very well
Take your Music on tour, You have a big following.Thats what Dime would say. Thats what its about, I fell in love with Music young but when I saw Angus live I knew I wanted to do that,Just dont have any regrets. When your older you dont wanna say I should have done that. Its hard I know but nothin great comes easy. you got what it takes .everyone dont. your Awesome Ola. Much love and support from all over the planet, A great acheivement in itself. Never stop
Dear Ola, thanks for your channel, good job! I discovered in this video you created this line of Solar guitars, amazing! Can you tell us more about this bizness? What are your roles in the company, how it is organized, where and how this guitars are produced,... This kind of stuff. Best regards!
Hi Ola! just too much fun watching your old RUclips videos and retrace your story. What do you think of yourself in those days? And what suggestion would you give yourself?
