I just turned 51 and just bought my first guitar, Jackson dinky 22 by the way because of you. You are an inspiration to me and the world. Much love
Welcome to the party pal
Excellent choice for a first Guitar. Welcome to the world of music, enjoy!
Indeed, welcome to the club! Excellent first guitar! I only wish my own first guitar decades ago was so good :D Cheers and enjoy the journey - it's a never-ending ride that you will cherish forever. Only one piece of advice if I man, well actually two:
- Don't give up! You WILL be frustrated with guitar, just as with anything else you decide to try your hand at. But stick with it!
- Make your own mind up on gear, tone, effects, pedals, music, whatever....Everyone has opinions and they're all valid most of the time. But at the end, the only opinion that truly matters is your own. You like what you like. Learn from other's opinions and experiences but with music and gear, there is absolutely no single voice of god - there is no single playbook to follow. If it sounds good to you and it feels good to you, that's all you need. :) The guitar community on youtube and online is generally great but make no mistake - there are many highly opinionated people out there as well as "traditionalist" folks that are incredibly resistant to change and make it their life's work to convert people to their way of thinking. Ignore them and follow your own path. Cheers again and welcome to the ride of your life.
Welcome to the beginning of an amazing & inspiring journey. Jam well 👍🤘👍
Awesome
Honestly, the main reason I subscribe is for the FAQ's,.vlog and comedy.. I actually don't pay attention to the gear stuff. I like Ola and family. Like a great tv show
T Crane I dont even listen to metal 😂
Yer same. Love his faqs
better than Kardashians
Yeah, it's like a slice of life in Sweden, which I'll probably never be able to visit but I feel like I already have been there now.
I don't even listen to the videos, the captions are funny enough
I can totally see "Solar Amplification" being a thing.
Ola: “this is my last ever FAQ” Ermin: “wut”
😮
Ermin Hamidovic love you!! 😘😘
@@Ermz brate koliko ja tebe gotivim, nije normalno xD
The only thing missing is abrutly changing to the intro from the series Lost, with respective sound effect.
lmao Best part of the video.
That 8 string headstock looks like a freakin' weapon. Awesome.
It’s really great how you always evolve and come up with new formats. Many keep their channel the same, forever and somewhen it gets boring. You come up with new stuff. Great!
Not really a question but a statement, Christopher Amott is such an underrated player!
i stumbled upon the amplitube mesa video the other day and i noticed how much more somber you were. maybe life was different then, maybe you were less comfortable talking back then, but your energy now is so much more open and positive. really reminds me how far you've come in the couple years i've been watching. congrats on 500K. you earned every last one of them. cheers.
Jeff Loomis is one of my favorite riff masters. There's a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity in his playing. Underrated as HELL.
Personally I have never been a huge fan of FAQ from any channel but appreciate the service it offers to others. Unsure how well commentary on current events will fit into a music related channel but again I can see that it will provide colour & a different aspect to the content. Discussion on new music would be most welcome. Lastly, it is YOUR CHANNEL Ola, do what you feel works best for you dude!
Thanks Ola you make me want ro pickup my guitar(s) and play. I had almost givé up for years but lately i've been buying pedals (which i hadn't done for years) building a new recording rig and restoring all my guitars, polishing my frets, etc...
I binge watched almost all FAQs, I think the change can be a nice thing.
Keep the numbering, "Sunday With Ola #1", "...#2", etc
For me it 's been "Sunday with Ola" for almost 2 years now, so no problem at all
Solid advice from Ola. Telling people you get out of it what you put into it...learning one piece of gear at a time...
It’s been a while since I’ve had a faq too 😂
Nothing like a good FAQ
Hey Ola, I've been watching your FAQs for a long long time. I think as a viewer and massive fan (massive cause I like you, not cause I'm a massive 400lb man), I appreciate all of the wonderful and helpful and entertaining FAQs we've received from you
Ola, I remember every payday in the 2000's... I'd go to FYE, buy 3 or 4 cd's. I've bought countless cd's from them. Tons of Napalm Death, Iced Earth, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Cathedral, Black Sabbath, Megadeth... I bought Slayer's God Hates Us All there on 9/11. I also bought music through Columbia House, including Ozzy, Judas Priest's, Kiss and Sepultura's entire catalogues. It's such a shame that the album format is gone, because FYE used to be a magical place for me.
Did that in high school took my lunch money and got a CD every week. Circuit city wouldn't sell me slayer cd
I loved the part with Ermin. I would love to hear more about your song writing/recording/production processes.
Ola, it's mad to think I'v watch all of your FAQ over the years and Thank you for making them.
I'm glad you're not going anywhere Ola. Love your videos and personality. Referring to the best critique or advice you ever got about your guitar playing. Last July, I layed down three all Lead Guitar Instrumental Tracks in my Producers Studio, I've known my Producer for over 19 years, he's like a brother to me. Anyway, I asked him how he'd define my lead guitar tone, and he said, "I don't think it can be defined, you've got so many different influences, and they are all present in your playing". So, for me, that was the greatest critique I ever received on my lead guitar playing. Take Care Ola.🤘🏻✌🏻
You are the most down to earth dude! Thank you so much for all you do on your channel man it really feels like I've known you forever!🤘
Complete confidence in your decision to change things up with the FAQs. Im bias because you read one of my questions a while ago (check that off my bucket list). I'm always entertained and coming back for more. All the best.
Thanx Ola for all the faq.cant wait for the sunday with Ola. Rock on!🤘
hey ola, i really hope you and your family are ok!!! i just want to say congratulations for getting 500k, you do an excelent job here which inspires me and a lot of people to get deep into guitar related gear. you really deserves it! also i fucking loved The Sun and The Moon, that's just an incredible song!!!!!
Holy shit, I've been watching Ermin's videos for sim racing content, never thought I would see him here!
Totally agree with you about Chris Cornell and Richie Cotzen... Both amazing musicians RIP Chris...
Holy F@ck 😮😮for a moment i thought my Sunday mornings won't be the same without Ola's Faq
The film "Bad Taste" rocks!!!!!! Glad you liked it too!!
I’m drunk, I’ll watch it tomorrow taking a dump. Love you Ola
i am taking a dump right now
@@BigMuff75 doing it right now.
Also on the shitter
I don’t think I have seen a more beautiful guitar
You're approach on the singles and eps, has never been a thought I've tried to process. You're reason is brilliant actually
Dearest Ola,
Just wanted to share a Dimebag story. I was in my early 20's, working at a pizza place in Seattle, WA when we got news that Dimebag was murdered. Now, almost all of the cooks there were huge Pantera fans so we all played the Pantera albums we had on us (back when people still carried cd's on them). Vulgar Display of Power was what I played. We must have played four or five albums in a row. Well, a customer finally complained, saying "it sounds like someone is being tortured." We politely explained why we were playing that kind of music (the torture kind) and the customer looked horrified, saying simply "oh," and then left.
Padlock Steve dimebag did torture his guitar for those solos.
That was great!!! Nice to see Ermin. he's killing it with so many bands under his name. Also, awesome FAQ to end with. I love it that you're changing it up Ola. Change brings freshness to the channel too. Can't wait for next Sunday :)
Congrats on 140 FAQs, come along ways since the goat days, hahahaha! Looking forward to seeing more mate, keep up the good work!
Loved the faq format tbh. Still love ya channel
Vikings back in the days: "Are you ready??? Yes, let's conquer Paris!!!"
Vikings in 2020: 4:55 "Are you ready?I didn't tidy my room"
Hely Ola! After 140 FAQs, Sunday with Ola is a great place to move. I'm really looking forward to your new tips and news from the world of music. Keep up!
Hey Ola. Just ordered the vinyl single. I'm not a subscription or patreon kind of guy, but I do like buying physical music. Thanks for having that option. Love what you do. Hugs and kisses. Fah-Q! :P
Ola - that's a great idea and looking forward to your new format
Holy shit. I was so stoked to see Ola playing Djent at the beginning.
I have a MONO case for 2 guitars that is for travelling with. I used it last year on my trip to Sweden and put a PRS and an Ibanez in it. Survived perfectly. You are right about padding in gaps, I did lots of it(bubblewrap or socks/underwear/shorts). Great place to put spare clothes!
I made it through all the faqs, swolas and coffee with ola's! Congrats to me! Hopefully, They'll be more coffee with Ola's! Big fan!
hyped for the new format. good stuff swedad
I am very interested in a fresh change! Excited! I Watch all your videos and you can do no wrong in my eyes. On to the next! Thanks
🤘😎🤘
If Dime was here in physical form, he'd def. have a channel, and it would 100% be the best one hands down!! The shred wars that could've been..would'a been amazing, and he would of collaborated with a lot of the current "popular" guitar channel's like yours and Rabea's. King Of The Strings (imo) And the most real & down to earth human on this planet.
I listen to albums in Spotify and pick it my favourite tracks who make it into my playlist 👊
I like buying complete albums and I like having the hard copies just in case the Internet gets unplugged I can still rock out.
This channel...is the very best on RUclips imo.
I like the JVM410... played it for several years now and it s got the classic mushy humbling sound ... only added an EQ... clean and metal sounds are totally awesome
You need to make that a full song!! Chug Chug!! Do it! I'll buy it!
Awsome way to wrap these up! That talk with Ermin was killer. I'm sorta hoping Sunday With Ola includes these types of features, here and there.
The guy who wants an inexpensive metal amp, I 100% recommend the Laney Ironheart Studio, or SLS. This amp is the center of my setup and makes life in my apartment musical, and metal.
Ola u do u! We'll be here watching! Keep on keeping on brother 🎸⚡🧁
Congrats Ola for the 500,000 subscribersss, I hope that the oldest FAQ videos not remove and it's for my and other viewers feature references ...thanks again inspired me to play Metal, 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Hello Hello!!! Please continue with the subtitles in the videos, they are very important to me, as I do not speak fluent English. Sunday's videos are great!
Holy fukk at how good the V guitar looks in the case with the lights hitting it.
Dear Ola, I recently subscribed to your channel and I‘m currently watching all your FAQ‘s from Top to bottom.
It‘s quite a social study of your own personal development. I‘m really enjoying them a lot and I‘m mostly having
a few good laughs throughout the show. In my opinion it‘s really good entertainment. So thank you for taking your
time making these videos. I‘m looking forward to enjoying the new Sunday format.
Take care, stay save! Peace out! Daniel, Hamburg.
We will miss the faq! But looking forward to more better vids to come!
Kudos, way to go. Looking forward to experience Sundays with You.
Finally you are making an 8 string at Solar!!! I have always loved Solar guitars but I predominantly play 8 string can't wait to pick one up!!!
The mix on the new single is amazing .
Great music Ola.
I was sad when I saw the title but now I have am excited in my p p for the new series. Fuck yeah. 🤘🏻
Asked a question, or two, over the past year. Never got an answer because there would always be thousands of comments between FAQ videos; I can see why you want to get away from the 'Q&A' focus. Was nice to see someone do so much engagement with their viewers!
Chug chug. Thank you Ola for providing my new ringtone.
Sunday with Ola...ok that'll work! Rock on!!
Premiere squad. But fell asleep like 7 minutes before the end of the premiere. So I watched it again
I'm album guy as well, but the way the market has changed is simply a reaction to how people actually want to buy music. Most people do NOT want to buy a full album and they never have. The first time I saw this was in 1990. I was sitting in a dorm room with a bunch of guys and one of them had wealthy parents. He had an enormous CD collection and a huge 100 CD carousel. He never listened to full CDs. He'd hop around the carousel and played one or two songs. It drove me nuts because he'd put in albums that I knew had great songs on it that weren't on the radio and I would want to hear them. When I pointed this out he told me, "no there aren't." I was stunned and asked him why he thought that and he explained that he didn't like any of the other songs and only bought the full CD because he had to. He never even tried to listen to the other songs anymore. He used to but he never ended up liking them so he quit trying. I figured he was the odd ball, but other people in the room agreed with him. I've met tons of people like this over the years and realized most people are like this. They are the norm. It's also why the CD format was so much better to them. They could skip around instantly to the 1-3 songs they liked on each CD.
Artists and the recording industry propped up the album format, not listeners. It's not a question of stamina, it's just the fact that most people are passive music listeners. They listen to the radio or a playlist and they like the music they are bombarded with over and over. Even worse, the vast majority of people only have a short window in their youth where they will listen to new music and fall in love with it. Once they get older and that phase is over, all new music "sucks" and they only want to listen to the music from those crucial years and nothing else.
I can't listen to music this way. I can't put on music in the background and just enjoy it while I do something else. If music is on I'm paying attention and picking it apart. Everything else gets shoved to the background. Not the music.
My band (Alien Frequency) is currently releasing singles. When we get enough to fill an album, we're gonna release a full album and get CDs made. Oddly enough, we get more inquiries for CDs than we do about streaming.
been a member for all 140 faqs. woo hoo
loooooooooved the interview discussion.
Sunday’s with Ola are the best!
The skype-segment with Ermin was a great feature! Give us more of that! Like a Corona-safe Coffee with Ola! I suggest interviews like that with Ola from A.c.t, the Solar-artist Kristian Niemann or even better an guitarhero like Mike Romeo or a swedish icon like John Norum or Kee Marcello for instance! Keep up the good work!
Good luck with the new "Sunday with Ola!" :)
at the end of the vid, don't be afraid of change it is good for your guitarplaying
Practice makes perfect as they say :). Even though I'm 31 and have been playing guitar off/on since I was 5, I still struggle with simple things like bends, alternate picking, certain pacings, pick control (especially since my hands get quite sweaty), pinch harmonics, finger picking, things like that. So most of the time a hour after i get up I'll sit on my loveseat and work on those aspects and doing different exercises from 20-30 mins (possibly a hour since I play left and right handed). Then when I get home I usually will spend 15-30 mins doing scales and sweeping patterns. Sometimes I'll take breaks here and there, or change it up abit so I don't get bored and feel burned out :).
Huge that Ola gave Richie Kotzen that praise. If you are interested some solid stuff from Richie. Listen to his solo songs "The Damned," "Venom," and "Can You Feel It." Plus the first Winery Dogs record. That whole record is perfect top to bottom.
change is good... and is not like you're killing the series, you're are improving it I think. Looking forward for the new Sundays with Ola vids!
Please, no current events. I come to your beautiful channel for all things heavy metal, to escape current events. I mean, current events in your life would be cool... like, how’s the garden coming along? Is your thumb injury totally gone? Have you purchased any sweet new carts lately? Stay epic, love your content, please no current events
The new show sounds like a great idea.
Love these videos!! Hope your next idea will be just as good! Looking forward to it Ola! Be safe!
Jan Patrick I feel you!
That guitar looks crazy. Love it.
Love the new name! Solid 6/10!
Jeff Scott Soto is sick! Talisman never get enough love 🤘 so many killer jams
Tube Head for Metal - try the Peavey Valveking. Its cheap on the used market for about 200€ and as a distortion i would go for the Boss MT-2 BUT as a boost, distortion very low just to add a bit of metal and you have an eq with it too. I had some Boutique Amps and Pedals, from a cheapo 30 bucks pedal up to a P-Melter and tube amps from the Orange toiny dark up to Framus Dragon handwired point to point modded. Valveking with MT-2 for about 270ish € is absolutely great.
The Sunday with Ola sounds good man! Covering something different. There is only so much questions a man can answer lol if you think it's a good move, I support it. Your the man
I’d suggest also taking the tension off strings for shipping too.
That's not good advice. Every major manufacturer of guitars, sends them with the strings under tension. What do you know that they don't know?
I love how the last FAQ video starts with an awesome 8 string guitar. \m/
Now would be a great time to move away from - “Hey Ola what do you think about ___ ?” questions!
Hola Ola!
Since you are always looking for new things to do in your channel, I think it would be insanely cool to have a regular weekly / monthly / whatever series with @Hermin Hamidovic where you could talk production and get like really deeply into sound nerd mode. The guy is such a master of the craft and a straight up sweetheart, you could make a lot of bedroom studio metal guys very happy.
Anyway love your content, thanks for everything mate. Keep it up!
Great idea for this actually. Keep it up man! Much love!
Dude all your tuning heads are satisfyingly all identical
For tube amp tones from a pedal go with a Suhr Riot, Tech 21 US Metal/GT2 or Wampler Pinnacle/Sovereign/Triple Wreck.
I know that what you come up with next will be good but the FAQ’s are my favorite things about your stuff and I’m kinda bummed.
Good choices for the vocalists! I’d have to put Jorn Lande on the list as well. His voice is incredible!
MESHUGGAH COMBUSTION! Love that whole Obzen album.
I bought an Jackson KV SKB case for my V2.6 TBR, and it fits very snug; not sure why yours was so roomy. Have a great week; see you next Sunday. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
New format sounds good to me
If you're going to build a rig, the first (and possibly only) top of the line thing you should actually buy is a really great cabinet. The rest is secondary really. The most expensive H&K Triamp or Mesa JP2C out there played through a $150 Crate or Blackstar 4x12 that costs more in shipping from Music Go Round is going to sound like a $150 4x12 no matter what you're playing though it.
That riff at the begining !!!!!
