Turn 1, lap 1 of this track is absolutley insane! Love it.

I was at the race with my 6 year old Will Power shirt on. I am glad he never switched teams so I don't have to buy a new shirt. Was really disappointed that a paddock pass was required to go to the winners circle. This wasn't required last year in Portland. Anyways, fun day, exciting race. Will Power shut up all the haters sitting around me in the grand stands. I think Herta screwed up his tires lap 1, turn 1. When he came on the radio later you can hear vibrations in his voice like he has a big flat spot.

Kind of wish IndyCar officials would start properly penalizing drivers for sloppy moves resulting in accidents honestly. I can't remember the last time an IndyCar driver was hit hard with a penalty for poor driving on track.

I agree. These drivers are supposed to be some of the world's best open wheel drivers so if they make a mistake they should get penalized. To me, allowing the drivers to do all kinds of overly ambitious moves and cause incidents without fear of repercussions is not racing.

Penalties are to negate an ill gotten gain. There was no gain here.

Really enjoyed the race. It is great to hear the attitude of the drivers in this series. Rahal and Hunter Reay both openly admitting their respective mistakes and apologising. A breath of fresh air compared to F1 drivers and complete respect for their fellow competitors. 👍

a decent race except for the carnage on the opening lap that took out 4 or 5 competitive cars sadly!

I think you meant 2018, this year there was no taking out on the start.

@@lettucelettucelettuce Huh? Some cars definitely got taken out lap 1 in 2019 too. Also, personally I love the absolute melee during turn 1 of lap 1 of this track.

Compare Rahal's reaction to Max Verstappen's reaction.

Ryan Hunter Reay apologized too, I think it's just the culture of open wheel in america compared to europe
