As a woman that has worked in corporate and private IT for 15 years and never had another female coworker, if you want to be "equal", get an education in computer science, engineering, or any other "male-dominated" field. The industry will welcome you and probably favor your employment to balance out the gender gap. But... You have to be able to do the same work.

I took a genders studies course for kicks while I was taking some HVAC classes and the instructor was a feminist. She and I got into a disagreement, she was on a rant about the pay gap and so I walked to my truck grabbed the biggest wrench I had and handed it to her. She could barely lift it. I'm a journeyman HVAC tech, I work 60 hours a week, I make 150k, but you best believe I bust my ass. When I come home I'm covered in dirt grease and filth She makes 50k whining about women's rights and cries if she breaks a nail.

I never thought of this before. When women complain that they are "underrepresented" in the work force, they are always talking about CEOs and elected officials. They never talk about being underrepresented among trash collectors and sewer workers. Thank you for putting this into perspective.

I worked in a petroleum refinery construction project for 8 months. 42 degrees Celcius, burning sun, you know the deal. 40.000 people worked there, every single day. I did not see a single female engineer on-site. But plenty of hardy women working as cleaning staff and labourers. Still, probably only 1/10th of the workers were women. The air-conditioned office, however, were full of girls. My country, Vietnam, has a long tract record for gender equality. During the war women fought along side men. We know each gender has its own roles and work preferences, and we accept that. You'd be hard pressed to find a feminist here.
Yes, I learned a lot from living in Asian countries. I never heard any sexist comments from men or women. They were much more supportive of each other. And there was no feminism!

Women started to go into bricklaying in Russia. The more women that went into the trade the lower the wages dropped. Double the work force and half the wages. It was not long before it was all women bricklayers the men would not do it because wages where to low to support the family. The result of this was women in there early 40ts crippled with arthritis in the cruel Russian winters and the work was to heavy for them and Wrecked their bodies over time. Leaving Russia with a massive invalidity bill for support for these women. Today wages are up and 90% of all construction work is back to been men. How ever nearly all the nurses are women. I guess it warmer working in hospital . If a woman can do the job she should be allowed to do it for Equal wage but not to flood the job with labour reducing wages. Since the UK started giving jobs on gender it now takes man and women working to make one living wage. Unlike Germany where 95% of mums are stay home mums by choice. The german men get better pay better pensions than in the UK . The german government incourages the women to stay home with tax brakes giving the women the equivalent of the minimum wage to stay at home and look after their own children . Mother and kids benifits from this. Germany is stronger than UK and we in UK have our women working we cant afford not to. I have a very "sexist" relationship and I love it. I cook and clean and do the housework and my husband does the construction and yard work. He opens doors for me, I make his favourite desserts. And we're happy. And we've been told by young people that our relationship is "goals"... We're men and women, we're different. I was tasked in organizing a tech panel for the company I worked for. I send out e-mail invitiation to various speakers. male and female. It was a small panel. I invited five male speakers and four female speakers. The male speakers replied quickly. Each reply got automatically registered and was published as a "confirmed panelist" on our website. Each and every single woman of the four I invited rejected basically saying something of the line of: "I will not take part in any all male panels". Thus, making it an all male panel...about which some woman complained later. Oh feminism, you're stupid. Sorry, needed to vent.
I was in a comitee for a new prof. chair at my university. Candidates had to apply themselves, but near the end of the time for application there were not a single woman that had applied. We got a mail from our equal opportunities officer asking why we hadn't any women in the candidates. So we had to write to a dozen suitable women if the want to apply, note that that wasn't allowed for men. Not a single one responded and we had to justify why there were no women and it was a really big fuss around it. But yeah equality I guess.
I hate to say it. But I'm a man working in a female dominated industry. Where I am there are 4 men and 32 women in nine sections. And daily, sometimes multiple times a day, women ask as to do things for them. Opening windows, opening containers, changing laminate machines, fixing settings on cameras, moving heavy things, explaining problems with printers. Some of this is about age (my vocations trends older as well), but the women come to us men much more often than they go to other younger women who work there.

My hubby works in construction (he delivers roofing materials to construction sites) the bundles he carries when he gets on the roof are 50-80 lbs (22.7-36.3 kg) I would not be able to do what he does!!! So, I do the next best thing for our relationship and support him, and be the best wife I can be! I was in a tank regiment, and I would like to see women changing tracks, loading fuel and munitions. How about a forced march in winter with a 60-pound pack, weapon and be engaged in fire-fights day or night. If they can do that they will earn my respect, instead of cherry-picking jobs and be demanding equal rights.
The statement is self-explanatory. Equal rights means undrtaking the same tasks as men, and any woman that hold their own under ardious conditions will certainly have my respect. I've held many phyically demanding jobs, and never with a woman. Opportunities for woman are greater than ever before, but still not seizing the nettle. I think that explains my veiw on equal-rights.

Women can do everything a man can? Sure, but that isn't the question, the question is, can women do everything a man can AS WELL as a man can? Spoiler alert: The answer is no, consistency is critical for a well functioning society, and sadly, women lack consistency A LOT. I will boil down to this statement, if society MOMENTARILY ( for example one month), got rid of all women, society would be slightly changed, mainly because men care for their women, but it would go on nonetheless. But. If men ceased to exist, let's just say, the damages to society would be almost disastrous. Oil, gone, electricity, gone, gas, gone, any form of currency, gone, most food on the planet, gone, media, gone, you get the point. And remember, this is an hypothetical idea in the way women knew that men would come back 1 year later, so all they had to do was try to maintain society in it's current state in the meantime. On the other hand, if only women left, and men were left alone for one month, women can rest assured that society wouldn't have changed much.
The original video was scrapped because I made a false assumption about some of the employment data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was brought to my attention by a youtuber Rich Dobbs. I had incorrect assumptions about the gender disparties in some occupations. Whilst some of the more Labor intensive jobs mentioned in the previous video may well be male only, the claim that women are completely absent from 40% of all occupations can’t be substantiated by the data. Thus I thought it best to remove the false information, admit error and redo it.

This tennis nonsense never made sense to me. Proportionally, men have more fast twitch muscle fibers than women, women have more slow twitch fibers (med school physiology stuff, fast twitch = strength but briefer action, slow twitch = less strength but higher endurance due to more mitochondria which are red). They play against other women, so it makes zero sense. Women's marathon is just as long, it just takes them longer, but tennis is somehow harder than running a marathon or something? I wonder if other sports have similar nonsense to this tennis business.

Not only is there nothing stopping women from working in male dominated jobs companies are actively seeking out women to hire. The sad truth is when most women (with the odd exception) do take the job they don't perform and it's a net loss for the company and the men on the job site have to make up the slack. They also disrupt the work place, where men have to watch everything they say or do, no joking around, walking on egg shells, etc, etc. Women never stay in the job and they always move on to something else and usually to a more dominated female occupation.

Many of them spent more time up in HR crying about nothing so they could get special treatment and always AND I MEAN ALWAYS the men on the floor had to do their own work plus pick up the slack of the women who were to busy bawling to do anything. There's something about a team of all men (or all women for that matter) that gets more accomplished because they're free from distraction and able to focus exclusively on work. I realize it's all "politically incorrect" to say this, but it's more difficult to focus on your work at work when you have gorgeous looking female co-workers wandering around in 4-inch stiletto high heels and skin tight mini skirts (which is commonplace in most offices). It's a distraction and it leads to the inevitable flirting at work that takes place, the inevitable competition among male employees to be the one to date the female co-worker, and the "walking on eggshells" that you mentioned. The female would get special treatment from all of the male co-workers because they would all seek to win her over. It's as though there's no limit to how revealing women can be in the workplace, but you're forced to turn a blind eye to it as a guy and pretend that she's not dressed like she's ready for a club on a Friday night because if you say anything nice to her at all to her like "you're looking good today" then it's off to HR for a sexual harassment reprimand. It's as though women are placed into those jobs to try and destroy team chemistry.

many of them are only hired to raise the number of women at the job in the field. ive worked with 20 female programmers in 25 years. Only one was worth anything and she was smarter than the rest of us. But the rest of them were just decoration and not only did little, but created a LOT more work by the rest of us.
I agree with Mauicio. I've seen that first hand. I worked for a company that bent over backwards to hire a female administrator because our Network, Server, and Development teams were all men. So the Network team had an opening and hired a woman. What she didn't tell us during the interview is that she was pregnant (giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she didn't know). But starting out on the network team, you're going to be doing physical labor sometimes, like running cat 5 or fiber, mounting devices in server racks, cable management etc. After her initial 1 month of training and 1 month of shadowing, it was time for her to be put on the on-call schedule. By this time she was about 4-5ish months pregnant. She started to claim that she was physically incapable of doing some of the tasks her job required, like climbing ladders, going into crawl spaces and the like. So one of the more senior members of the team had to do her work AND HIS (much to his disliking). Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back and made everyone resent her was a few months later. We all have one week on-call rotations. Now in 4 years I've never seen any of the guys ditch their on-call responsibilities, but she was using her pregnancy as an excuse to never be on call. So instead of 25% on call time, the network guys now had 33% on call time because of her dead weight. After she had the baby, she was out of work for 6 weeks (couldn't really tell because she did nothing to help any projects). Upon coming back, she had some light duty note from her doctor for 2 months. Now we're looking at almost 1 year of her not contributing, and management was afraid to fire her. So finally the Senior Network Admin had enough. He gave her a project and a deadline and told her he would accept no excuses. Being that she'd barely gained any work experience over the past year, she obviously failed. She was fired on the spot. She claimed she was going to sue for gender discrimination, but we haven't heard anything, and that was nearly 2 years ago. Her replacement was a man. He fit right in with us and still works here. Lesson learned.

This is pretty accurate, as an example I was flipping through social media the other day and noticed one of my friends who happens to be somewhat of a feminist posted a picture of a caution sign where they had been doing road construction and it said" Drive slow my Dad works here". In the caption she posted above the picture she said why does it only say dad? people's Mom's work out there too. I was going to comment "Okay so where are they?" but I didn't want to be a dick. Then today I was on my way home and there was some construction on my street and there were only two females there and they were the ones flipping the signs letting traffic through while all the guys were over in the mud digging up old sewer drain pipes and running the heavy machinery. Normally I just turn away from all this kind of stuff because I don't care but things are starting to get kind of ridiculous with this whole gender inequality crap. Over the years I've worked for multiple shipping companies where I would have to load and unload trucks, run heavy machinery, Etc but, when it came to the difficult work there were no women at all. Occasionally there would be one or two that would come up and help out but they wouldn't last more than a day and then they would complain go back and would do the easy work handling all the smaller stuff and they still got paid as much as I did. Women want the pay but they don't want to do the Dirty Jobs that's what it all boils down to.
Ian Kite In my experience I haven't been allowed to do the heavy work. Everyone acts like I'm crazy if I said I would rather work construction than flip arround a sign all day, and many more think I can't do it. Laying concrete isn't that hard, I've done it for my parents, who are pretty much the only people who let me do labor intensive jobs. I've done electric, plumbing, and flooring work in my parent's house and many times it's better and lasts longer than what the "professionals" can do. On side note I've applied to work in the lumber department at Home Depot because my hobby is amateur carpentry, but I was turned down and told to apply to the paint department. I don't have that much experience with paint and often find myself using the wrong paint for the job, so I wasn't that confident applying, they said I would just be doing color coordinating not paint type selection... Yeah, thanks for thinking just because I'm a woman color coordination is my strong suit. My form of color coordinating is stick to red, white, and a beige/yellow color and anything else ask someone if it looks weird.

Not that it's too labor intensive but that the guys there treat you like a delicate flower even if you can do the job better than they can. If everyone's going to talk down to you no matter what, there isn't really a reason to try to push through and get the job when you have other options.

My daughter is studying physics. She gets shit from from female students because of that choice, even when she studied a semester in the UK. She gets asked, mockingly, "why would you do that to yourself?" This by women studying for a degree with no Market value.

I always have to laugh at that idea that men are actively trying to keep women out of these degrees and professions. As someone who has been through engineering courses, I have seen almost all classes being 100% male, I have never known any one of them to be happy about that, or to be upset when there was one in the class. Where are all these mysterious men who are wanting to go to school and work around only other men, because i have never met any of those guys yet.
Here in Australia the women in the construction industry do traffic control ONLY!! Pays 50 per hour for them to stand there on the phone doing sweet fuk all. And .. if the sun is out they get umbrellas and big tents set up and pink hard hats just in case a rock goes near them. There's a BIG difference between a woman and a feminist. My wife is a hard working individual who goes to great lengths to perserve her job. She works overtime; helps others; and she'll even go in on her days off to cover shifts that have call outs. She is the TRUE definition of a REAL, hard working American woman. Feminists, on the other hand, want the benefits and perks of a high-paying job without any of the hard work involved. They'll complain; step on toes; and lie their way to the top if it means getting what they want. Feminists are the worst kind of women to have in the workplace.

@Independent Man When I went to school for electronics engineering there were 5 women in the 1st class and 38 men. By the 2nd quarter 4 women QUIT and 1 man QUIT ! The 4 women all complained it was too hard and went into hair dressing and medical assistant fields, shorter 6 month courses and lower pay. The 1 man also said it was too hard and went into HVAC field that has a much higher pay than the hairdresser or medical assistant and it takes TWICE AS LONG to learn. So 4 women quit and 1 man quit. The women went into easier fields with lower pay. The man went into an easier field with HIGHER PAY, and much harder work and more training needed. Did anyone force the 4 women or man to quit and change fields ? Why were the engineering classes over 95% male and the hairdressing and medical assistant and office fields over 95% female ? Nobody forced anyone ! Yet the women chose the EASIEST FIELD with the LOWER PAY. And even said they wanted the EASIEST CLASSES. Didn't they know more training usually means higher pay ? I guess they didn't know the men were keeping them down 25 years ago in the 1990s ! The men also dressed normal but the women looked like they were going on a wedding date every day in class. Not that I minded seeing them. Now I would be called names for even looking ! But yet it is the men's fault the women didn't even sign up in equal numbers let alone quit 4 times as often ! And the women got higher for HIGHER PAY then the men due to the QUOTA of not having any women in technician and engineering fields ! Reverse sexism ! The woman got paid more the the EXACT SAME JOB just so a WOMEN AND MINORITY QUOTA could be met ! And the woman even said so and so did the person that hired her ! When I did an aerospace engineering course years ago in 2004, there were around 25 boys and 3 girls at the start. By the end of the course 21 boys (including me) were left and only 1 girl. She was always asking us what we needed to do during class, and the tutor (a man) still said girls are better at studying than boys! Man, how we've all been lied to for so long
When I was driving semi, we had to drive through the Rocky Mountains going east and west,in and out of Vancouver. The company hired a feminist, who said she will make a complaint to the union and refuse to drive through the mountains, on the basis that it is dangerous work.
Yesterday, I had an experience that PROVED women can NOT do the same WORK as MEN. I went to a furniture store with my pops. We decided to buy a big ol cabinet for clothes and what not. Their were only TWO women in the store. As we paid it off, the women came back talking about, the new cabinet was too heavy and big for both of them to take down, if we wanted to we could come back tomorrow for it. My father and I said no, if they needed help we would take it down (which we did). It pisses me off though, that women THINK they are the same as men and YET cant do the same job as a guy!

I actually did a poll at my college years back. I've done Carpentry/construction/maintenance for 10+ years. I went to school and had some material left over and my tools such as a small ladder. I went around, and without saying anything asked some women if they think they could do my job. A lot of which walked away saying I was inferior and that they could, some said the same but agreed to my challenge and I had them attempt to lift a bundle of asphalt shingles (roughly 90lbs) and try to walk to the ladder and go up. (I have worked with two women in my career and could do this no problem) these lot could not. In fact most of the women I know took career choices in nails and hair, and other cosmetics careers.
How many women work out in the hot sun, mowing lawns, dig fence posts, cut trees, know how to use a weed eater? There might be 25 or 30 in the US & Canada combined.

One summer after my computer rental job went tits up, I did what I had to do, as any man does, and took a job doing roofing and hanging skreet in Twentynine Palms. Not one woman was turned down for work, as none applied. And there was no cat-calling, because there wasn't a woman within three miles of the construction site.
As a full time Uni student some decades ago, I did a part time job in a chemical factory. It was smelly, dirty and hard work, and I took it as I was paid as a 21 yr old when I was 19 (that means 20% more). So it paid more than retail or storeman type jobs. There were around 100 people in the plant, and ALL were male. I asked the foreman if any women had ever worked there, and he just laughed. He said the chemicals we have to handle would melt their nail polish. Come to think of it, it was probably true as we handled industrial chemicals such as acetone.

Actually I worked in construction from age 11 ( I had a father who believed it was good for me and took me along). Women generally don't want to do that work, but the few women in the field were heterosexual. I have seen more butch homosexual women in office jobs than I have actually seen out on a construction site.

Just because they're famous chefs doesn't make their food good. I've tasted Emeril and Gordon and I can honestly say hands down, women cook far better than men. Their food was nasty and far overated. It only catered to weird snobs. I actually got food poisoning while eating at another famous chefs restaurant. They thought it was a good idea to use "fermented potatoes" in the food. Problem is they didn't know how to properly do it. Bottom line, the majority of men are not better in the kitchen than women.

Men and women are absolutely different biologically, that is self evident when it comes to what career choices we do. Women tend to chose jobs that requires more socializing or compassion, which is why they tend to chose jobs as teachers for younger students or child care, nursing or whatever, while men generally chose physically demanding or intellectually demanding jobs. Women can easily chose more intellectually demanding jobs too if they wanted to, but few of them do. It seems that they have this primitive instinct of acting like victims and waiting for someone to rescue them, while men know that no one is coming to rescue them so they try to solve the problem, this can be seen throughout history of humanity. This is why I chose to be a software engineer and study for 10+ years because that is what I am best fit for. I could easily chose to take care of children at a daycare center instead but that is much less appealing and satisfying to me. I am glad I can make that choice, and women too can chose whatever they want to do. Feminists are strongly against that, instead they want to try to force women into fields they don't really want to be in, so that their sexist gender statistic that has no relevance to the real world whatsoever, can change. They are totalitarianism disguised as democracy.

I'm enlisted in the army and when you go to basic training, you have to take the 1 1 1 test. 1 minute pushups, 1 minute situps and a 1 mile run. The men have to do 17 pushups, 27 situps and a mile in 8:30. The women have to do 3 pushups, 17 situps and a mile in 10:30

One could argue that it *should* be harder for women because a certain standard of absolute strength/fitness has to be maintained when it comes to being a soldier, but it's a different debate imo

Sal Luz This is true and I admire their work, to be in a labor intensive job period. Males have higher testosterone than females which makes it easier for men to build muscle. Females tend to be more compassionate and tend to look for jobs in that nature like office jobs or social works. I would like to see more females work and study STEM instead of useless gender studies and general arts and other low demand and pay jobs. Then they may stop complaining about the wage gap.
Different people have different skills or talents. And I would say that whatever skill or talent you chose, you will always find both, men and women, who have that skill or talent. But in some cases men will dominate, and in some cases women will dominate. It's easy.
There weren't any. And there were non in my dad's day either. It was (boo hoo) a HARD course of study. An there was NOBODY to hold your hand and encourage you. No, wait. There WAS a lot of help and hand holding support for WOMEN engineering students.
If it were true that woman are equal to men and can do anything a man can do, then WHY are professional sports separated by sex? The US women's world cup champion soccer team practices against 14-15 year old boys and regularly gets beaten. I was a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army. I served with women and of all the women i served with less that 10% could meet the same standards as the men. Not a single one of the could throw a 200 lbs man over their shoulder or even drag a 200 lbs man out of harms way!

I went to college and got BS & MS degrees in Physics. There were very few women in either my undergraduate or graduate classes and the few that were there were nearly all mediocre at best. Success in my field required a very high level of imagination, curiosity, creativity, ability to focus intensely and for prolonged periods and discipline. Most women don't possess those qualities and would thus be poor students. Of course they couldn't accept the fact that they might not be up to the requirements of the discipline and would thus start the blame game against the male professors, the school and their male classmates. The women would talk a good game but when it came to working independently on problems, they almost invariably needed somebody to hold their hand and guide them in order for them to know what to do to employ the principles learned in class in the solution of problems. For the most part, these women were very passive learners.

I am sure that many men had those same issues. Here is a strange thing. When I went to high school in Jamaica accounting was considered a female occupation and the males who went into accounting were teased as gay and effeminate. I studied electrical and electronics. My class had ONE girl and she was considered butch to the pint where most guys wouldn't even talk to her. The women did great at accounting , so did the few males. The one girl in my class did great too. Many of the males not so much. Years later when I went back as a member of the past students association fund raising committee I found that accounting had just as many males and females and so did the so-called male professions. (there were two types of high schools back then. Academic and Technical. Technical did more career oriented studies while Academic more or les prepared you for university) The failure rates were no more or less than would be expected in any class of students. However, Jamaica is one of those exceptions where the FEMALE students outnumber their male counterparts in therstiary education by four to one generally speaking and are about equal in what are usually considered male fields. Even in these situations the failure rates are no more or less than what would be considered normal. My point is this. In a situation where students gravitate naturally towards what they feel comfortable with and have a affinity for they will do just as well within the normal parameters. Its a fallacy invented by insecure people to suggest that women are somehow inferior simply because that field has traditionally been dominated by men. I tell you this. five of my drivers are male and seven are female. One male is gay three females are gay. One straight female is Chinese and one is Filipino, I don't care. I NEVER asked any one who applies what race, gender(many times its impossible to tell from a name) or sexual orientation. I look at qualification, attitude and experience in that order. After that all I care about is do you do the work you have been assigned. Yes? you are good to go. Woman here. I always scored really high in math aptitude tests, and computer programming just came much easier to me than most of my sisters and female friends and coworkers (as does all hand-eye coordination), but just didn’t have the interest. I always chalked it up to a combination of nature and nurture. I tried to get myself into some male dominated elective courses in my private elementary and high schools, but was actively discouraged from doing so because of being a cute little girl in a dress. And so just went and did art instead like I was told that I should. And I was good at it, so ok. Ended up in art school. Big mistake. I still blame nobody but myself even though my parents and my culture kept discouraging me from taking woodworking and computer courses. You hear stories of women who persevere despite being told they can’t or shouldn’t do it all the time. I just didn’t have that kind of determination I guess. I was too compliant. That’s often something women are-too compliant

So, here's an anecdote: my parents divorced when I was about 10. Both of my parents were pretty insecure and narcissistic, and thus cold-hearted. My mother decided to pursue occupations that were very much more male-dominated. She volunteered as an EMT, and later got paid to be the person that jumps down manholes for a utility company. Both jobs are pretty physically demanding, and the utility company job in particular was pretty dangerous. I lived with my father, and so I did not get to see my mother very much, especially through my teenage years. I suspect that entering such an overwhelmingly male-dominated field resulted in her deciding to take the easier road of possibly dying in an underground explosion than making the time to see me and my brother more often. I mean, how many guys are going to be in the middle of a job reconnecting transformers and say, "Listen, Joey, I gotta pick up my kids"? That guy is going to fall to the bottom of the pecking order, plus he will severely hurt his chances of advancement. Thanks, feminism. My mother probably never would have been happy with my father--they hated each other, by the end--but instead of a modest office job that could have allowed her to pay the bills and see her children, you preached "womyn" and robbed me even more. I did not see a single female engineer on-site. But plenty of hardy women working as cleaning staff and labourers. Still, probably only 1/10th of the workers were women.

My country, Vietnam, has a long tract record for gender equality. During the war women fought along side men. We know each gender has its own roles and work preferences, and we accept that. You'd be hard pressed to find a feminist here.

I guess it warmer working in hospital . If a woman can do the job she should be allowed to do it for Equal wage but not to flood the job with labour reducing wages. Since the UK started giving jobs on gender it now takes man and women working to make one living wage. Unlike Germany where 95% of mums are stay home mums by choice. The german men get better pay better pensions than in the UK . The german government incourages the women to stay home with tax brakes giving the women the equivalent of the minimum wage to stay at home and look after their own children . Mother and kids benifits from this. Germany is stronger than UK and we in UK have our women working we cant afford not to. I have a very "sexist" relationship and I love it. I cook and clean and do the housework and my husband does the construction and yard work. He opens doors for me, I make his favourite desserts. And we're happy. And we've been told by young people that our relationship is "goals"... We're men and women, we're different. I was tasked in organizing a tech panel for the company I worked for. I send out e-mail invitiation to various speakers. male and female. It was a small panel. I invited five male speakers and four female speakers. The male speakers replied quickly. Each reply got automatically registered and was published as a "confirmed panelist" on our website. Each and every single woman of the four I invited rejected basically saying something of the line of: "I will not take part in any all male panels". Thus, making it an all male panel...about which some woman complained later. Oh feminism, you're stupid. Sorry, needed to vent.
I was in a comitee for a new prof. chair at my university. Candidates had to apply themselves, but near the end of the time for application there were not a single woman that had applied. We got a mail from our equal opportunities officer asking why we hadn't any women in the candidates. So we had to write to a dozen suitable women if the want to apply, note that that wasn't allowed for men. Not a single one responded and we had to justify why there were no women and it was a really big fuss around it. But yeah equality I guess.

I hate to say it. But I'm a man working in a female dominated industry. Where I am there are 4 men and 32 women in nine sections. And daily, sometimes multiple times a day, women ask as to do things for them. Opening windows, opening containers, changing laminate machines, fixing settings on cameras, moving heavy things, explaining problems with printers. Some of this is about age (my vocations trends older as well), but the women come to us men much more often than they go to other younger women who work there.

I don't think women should be firefighters, police officers or in the military. Not because it's dangerous for them but because it's dangerous for others.
If they have completed the pre requisites to being a firefighter or police officer, I see no point in denying another able body to the emergency field, the more the better

The answer is no, consistency is critical for a well functioning society, and sadly, women lack consistency A LOT. Men have evolved to being emotionally dead in critical situations, that's what testosterone is for, men are famous for their logical thinking (mathematics, physics, chemistry, every single exact science out there is DOMINATED by men, for a reason).
Women dominate the care type jobs, nursering, psychology treatment, etc
Point is, men are critical to provide the ideal conditions that women can proliferate in.
I will boil down to this statement, if society MOMENTARILY ( for example one month), got rid of all women, society would be slightly changed, mainly because men care for their women, but it would go on nonetheless. But. If men ceased to exist, let's just say, the damages to society would be almost disastrous. Oil, gone, electricity, gone, gas, gone, any form of currency, gone, most food on the planet, gone, media, gone, you get the point.
And remember, this is an hypothetical idea in the way women knew that men would come back 1 year later, so all they had to do was try to maintain society in it's current state in the meantime.
On the other hand, if only women left, and men were left alone for one month, women can rest assured that society wouldn't have changed much.
The original video was scrapped because I made a false assumption about some of the employment data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was brought to my attention by a youtuber Rich Dobbs. I had incorrect assumptions about the gender disparties in some occupations. Whilst some of the more Labor intensive jobs mentioned in the previous video may well be male only, the claim that women are completely absent from 40% of all occupations can’t be substantiated by the data. Thus I thought it best to remove the false information, admit error and redo it.

This tennis nonsense never made sense to me. Proportionally, men have more fast twitch muscle fibers than women, women have more slow twitch fibers (med school physiology stuff, fast twitch = strength but briefer action, slow twitch = less strength but higher endurance due to more mitochondria which are red). They play against other women, so it makes zero sense. Women's marathon is just as long, it just takes them longer, but tennis is somehow harder than running a marathon or something? I wonder if other sports have similar nonsense to this tennis business.
Why men dominate IT, construction and engineering? Because in those fields work must be done correctly within deadlines, there is no time to be impractical and whine.

Not only is there nothing stopping women from working in male dominated jobs companies are actively seeking out women to hire. The sad truth is when most women (with the odd exception) do take the job they don't perform and it's a net loss for the company and the men on the job site have to make up the slack. They also disrupt the work place, where men have to watch everything they say or do, no joking around, walking on egg shells, etc, etc. Women never stay in the job and they always move on to something else and usually to a more dominated female occupation.

+1 on your comment. The last place I worked at ( a HUGE well known company) same shit. A few women would actually work and pull their weigh but most of them would be whining and crying about the "glass ceiling" and patriarchy this and patriarchy that. Always causing drama and strife. Many of them spent more time up in HR crying about nothing so they could get special treatment and always AND I MEAN ALWAYS the men on the floor had to do their own work plus pick up the slack of the women who were to busy bawling to do anything.
The ones who didn't bitch and cry would usually trying to shake their asses to get beta boys to do their work for them.

There's something about a team of all men (or all women for that matter) that gets more accomplished because they're free from distraction and able to focus exclusively on work. I realize it's all "politically incorrect" to say this, but it's more difficult to focus on your work at work when you have gorgeous looking female co-workers wandering around in 4-inch stiletto high heels and skin tight mini skirts (which is commonplace in most offices). It's a distraction and it leads to the inevitable flirting at work that takes place, the inevitable competition among male employees to be the one to date the female co-worker, and the "walking on eggshells" that you mentioned. The female would get special treatment from all of the male co-workers because they would all seek to win her over. It's as though there's no limit to how revealing women can be in the workplace, but you're forced to turn a blind eye to it as a guy and pretend that she's not dressed like she's ready for a club on a Friday night because if you say anything nice to her at all to her like "you're looking good today" then it's off to HR for a sexual harassment reprimand. It's as though women are placed into those jobs to try and destroy team chemistry.

many of them are only hired to raise the number of women at the job in the field. ive worked with 20 female programmers in 25 years. Only one was worth anything and she was smarter than the rest of us. But the rest of them were just decoration and not only did little, but created a LOT more work by the rest of us.
I agree with Mauicio. I've seen that first hand. I worked for a company that bent over backwards to hire a female administrator because our Network, Server, and Development teams were all men.
So the Network team had an opening and hired a woman. What she didn't tell us during the interview is that she was pregnant (giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she didn't know). But starting out on the network team, you're going to be doing physical labor sometimes, like running cat 5 or fiber, mounting devices in server racks, cable management etc. After her initial 1 month of training and 1 month of shadowing, it was time for her to be put on the on-call schedule.
By this time she was about 4-5ish months pregnant. She started to claim that she was physically incapable of doing some of the tasks her job required, like climbing ladders, going into crawl spaces and the like. So one of the more senior members of the team had to do her work AND HIS (much to his disliking).
Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back and made everyone resent her was a few months later. We all have one week on-call rotations. Now in 4 years I've never seen any of the guys ditch their on-call responsibilities, but she was using her pregnancy as an excuse to never be on call. So instead of 25% on call time, the network guys now had 33% on call time because of her dead weight.
After she had the baby, she was out of work for 6 weeks (couldn't really tell because she did nothing to help any projects). Upon coming back, she had some light duty note from her doctor for 2 months. Now we're looking at almost 1 year of her not contributing, and management was afraid to fire her.
So finally the Senior Network Admin had enough. He gave her a project and a deadline and told her he would accept no excuses. Being that she'd barely gained any work experience over the past year, she obviously failed. She was fired on the spot. She claimed she was going to sue for gender discrimination, but we haven't heard anything, and that was nearly 2 years ago.
Her replacement was a man. He fit right in with us and still works here. Lesson learned.

This is pretty accurate, as an example I was flipping through social media the other day and noticed one of my friends who happens to be somewhat of a feminist posted a picture of a caution sign where they had been doing road construction and it said" Drive slow my Dad works here". In the caption she posted above the picture she said why does it only say dad? people's Mom's work out there too. I was going to comment "Okay so where are they?" but I didn't want to be a dick. Then today I was on my way home and there was some construction on my street and there were only two females there and they were the ones flipping the signs letting traffic through while all the guys were over in the mud digging up old sewer drain pipes and running the heavy machinery. Normally I just turn away from all this kind of stuff because I don't care but things are starting to get kind of ridiculous with this whole gender inequality crap. Over the years I've worked for multiple shipping companies where I would have to load and unload trucks, run heavy machinery, Etc but, when it came to the difficult work there were no women at all. Occasionally there would be one or two that would come up and help out but they wouldn't last more than a day and then they would complain go back and would do the easy work handling all the smaller stuff and they still got paid as much as I did. Women want the pay but they don't want to do the Dirty Jobs that's what it all boils down to.

Everyone acts like I'm crazy if I said I would rather work construction than flip arround a sign all day, and many more think I can't do it. Laying concrete isn't that hard, I've done it for my parents, who are pretty much the only people who let me do labor intensive jobs. I've done electric, plumbing, and flooring work in my parent's house and many times it's better and lasts longer than what the "professionals" can do.
On side note I've applied to work in the lumber department at Home Depot because my hobby is amateur carpentry, but I was turned down and told to apply to the paint department. I don't have that much experience with paint and often find myself using the wrong paint for the job, so I wasn't that confident applying, they said I would just be doing color coordinating not paint type selection... Yeah, thanks for thinking just because I'm a woman color coordination is my strong suit. My form of color coordinating is stick to red, white, and a beige/yellow color and anything else ask someone if it looks weird.

My daughter is studying physics. She gets shit from from female students because of that choice, even when she studied a semester in the UK. She gets asked, mockingly, "why would you do that to yourself?" This by women studying for a degree with no Market value.

I always have to laugh at that idea that men are actively trying to keep women out of these degrees and professions. As someone who has been through engineering courses, I have seen almost all classes being 100% male, I have never known any one of them to be happy about that, or to be upset when there was one in the class. @Independent Man When I went to school for electronics engineering there were 5 women in the 1st class and 38 men. By the 2nd quarter 4 women QUIT and 1 man QUIT ! The 4 women all complained it was too hard and went into hair dressing and medical assistant fields, shorter 6 month courses and lower pay. The 1 man also said it was too hard and went into HVAC field that has a much higher pay than the hairdresser or medical assistant and it takes TWICE AS LONG to learn.
So 4 women quit and 1 man quit. The women went into easier fields with lower pay. The man went into an easier field with HIGHER PAY, and much harder work and more training needed.
Did anyone force the 4 women or man to quit and change fields ?
Why were the engineering classes over 95% male and the hairdressing and medical assistant and office fields over 95% female ?

When I did an aerospace engineering course years ago in 2004, there were around 25 boys and 3 girls at the start. By the end of the course 21 boys (including me) were left and only 1 girl. She was always asking us what we needed to do during class, and the tutor (a man) still said girls are better at studying than boys! Man, how we've all been lied to for so long

Yesterday, I had an experience that PROVED women can NOT do the same WORK as MEN. I went to a furniture store with my pops. We decided to buy a big ol cabinet for clothes and what not. Their were only TWO women in the store. As we paid it off, the women came back talking about, the new cabinet was too heavy and big for both of them to take down, if we wanted to we could come back tomorrow for it. My father and I said no, if they needed help we would take it down (which we did). It pisses me off though, that women THINK they are the same as men and YET cant do the same job as a guy!

I actually did a poll at my college years back. I've done Carpentry/construction/maintenance for 10+ years. I went to school and had some material left over and my tools such as a small ladder. I went around, and without saying anything asked some women if they think they could do my job. A lot of which walked away saying I was inferior and that they could, some said the same but agreed to my challenge and I had them attempt to lift a bundle of asphalt shingles (roughly 90lbs) and try to walk to the ladder and go up. (I have worked with two women in my career and could do this no problem) these lot could not. In fact most of the women I know took career choices in nails and hair, and other cosmetics careers.
How many women work out in the hot sun, mowing lawns, dig fence posts, cut trees, know how to use a weed eater? There might be 25 or 30 in the US & Canada combined.

One summer after my computer rental job went tits up, I did what I had to do, as any man does, and took a job doing roofing and hanging skreet in Twentynine Palms. As a full time Uni student some decades ago, I did a part time job in a chemical factory. It was smelly, dirty and hard work, and I took it as I was paid as a 21 yr old when I was 19 (that means 20% more). So it paid more than retail or storeman type jobs. There were around 100 people in the plant, and ALL were male. I asked the foreman if any women had ever worked there, and he just laughed. He said the chemicals we have to handle would melt their nail polish. Come to think of it, it was probably true as we handled industrial chemicals such as acetone.

Just because they're famous chefs doesn't make their food good. I've tasted Emeril and Gordon and I can honestly say hands down, women cook far better than men. Their food was nasty and far overated. It only catered to weird snobs. I actually got food poisoning while eating at another famous chefs restaurant. They thought it was a good idea to use "fermented potatoes" in the food. Men and women are absolutely different biologically, that is self evident when it comes to what career choices we do. Women tend to chose jobs that requires more socializing or compassion, which is why they tend to chose jobs as teachers for younger students or child care, nursing or whatever, while men generally chose physically demanding or intellectually demanding jobs. Women can easily chose more intellectually demanding jobs too if they wanted to, but few of them do. It seems that they have this primitive instinct of acting like victims and waiting for someone to rescue them, while men know that no one is coming to rescue them so they try to solve the problem, this can be seen throughout history of humanity. This is why I chose to be a software engineer and study for 10+ years because that is what I am best fit for. I could easily chose to take care of children at a daycare center instead but that is much less appealing and satisfying to me. I am glad I can make that choice, and women too can chose whatever they want to do. Feminists are strongly against that, instead they want to try to force women into fields they don't really want to be in, so that their sexist gender statistic that has no relevance to the real world whatsoever, can change. They are totalitarianism disguised as democracy.

Sal Luz This is true and I admire their work, to be in a labor intensive job period. Males have higher testosterone than females which makes it easier for men to build muscle. Females tend to be more compassionate and tend to look for jobs in that nature like office jobs or social works. I would like to see more females work and study STEM instead of useless gender studies and general arts and other low demand and pay jobs. Then they may stop complaining about the wage gap.

The US women's world cup champion soccer team practices against 14-15 year old boys and regularly gets beaten. Of course it would never happen because very few women would ever be able to play and make a living at professional sport ever again.

I was a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army. I served with women and of all the women i served with less that 10% could meet the same standards as the men. Not a single one of the could throw a 200 lbs man over their shoulder or even drag a 200 lbs man out of harms way!

I went to college and got BS & MS degrees in Physics. There were very few women in either my undergraduate or graduate classes and the few that were there were nearly all mediocre at best. Success in my field required a very high level of imagination, curiosity, creativity, ability to focus intensely and for prolonged periods and discipline. Most women don't possess those qualities and would thus be poor students. Of course they couldn't accept the fact that they might not be up to the requirements of the discipline and would thus start the blame game against the male professors, the school and their male classmates. The women would talk a good game but when it came to working independently on problems, they almost invariably needed somebody to hold their hand and guide them in order for them to know what to do to employ the principles learned in class in the solution of problems. For the most part, these women were very passive learners.
That's kind of a waste, isn't it? Spending years and usually a lot of money getting a degree and more for masters and not putting the full effort in?

When I went to high school in Jamaica accounting was considered a female occupation and the males who went into accounting were teased as gay and effeminate. I studied electrical and electronics. My class had ONE girl and she was considered butch to the pint where most guys wouldn't even talk to her.
The women did great at accounting , so did the few males.
The one girl in my class did great too. Many of the males not so much.
Years later when I went back as a member of the past students association fund raising committee I found that accounting had just as many males and females and so did the so-called male professions. (there were two types of high schools back then. Academic and Technical. Technical did more career oriented studies while Academic more or les prepared you for university)
The failure rates were no more or less than would be expected in any class of students. However, Jamaica is one of those exceptions where the FEMALE students outnumber their male counterparts in therstiary education by four to one generally speaking and are about equal in what are usually considered male fields. Even in these situations the failure rates are no more or less than what would be considered normal.
My point is this. In a situation where students gravitate naturally towards what they feel comfortable with and have a affinity for they will do just as well within the normal parameters. Its a fallacy invented by insecure people to suggest that women are somehow inferior simply because that field has traditionally been dominated by men.

Woman here. I always scored really high in math aptitude tests, and computer programming just came much easier to me than most of my sisters and female friends and coworkers (as does all hand-eye coordination), but just didn’t have the interest. I always chalked it up to a combination of nature and nurture. I tried to get myself into some male dominated elective courses in my private elementary and high schools, but was actively discouraged from doing so because of being a cute little girl in a dress. And so just went and did art instead like I was told that I should. And I was good at it, so ok. Ended up in art school. Big mistake. I still blame nobody but myself even though my parents and my culture kept discouraging me from taking woodworking and computer courses. You hear stories of women who persevere despite being told they can’t or shouldn’t do it all the time. I just didn’t have that kind of determination I guess. I was too compliant. That’s often something women are-too compliant

So, here's an anecdote: my parents divorced when I was about 10. Both of my parents were pretty insecure and narcissistic, and thus cold-hearted. My mother decided to pursue occupations that were very much more male-dominated. She volunteered as an EMT, and later got paid to be the person that jumps down manholes for a utility company. Both jobs are pretty physically demanding, and the utility company job in particular was pretty dangerous.
I lived with my father, and so I did not get to see my mother very much, especially through my teenage years. I suspect that entering such an overwhelmingly male-dominated field resulted in her deciding to take the easier road of possibly dying in an underground explosion than making the time to see me and my brother more often. I mean, how many guys are going to be in the middle of a job reconnecting transformers and say, "Listen, Joey, I gotta pick up my kids"? That guy is going to fall to the bottom of the pecking order, plus he will severely hurt his chances of advancement.

Not to throw a wrench in your machine, but those gears should not turn. From about +4:06 or so, several of the gears are rotating in the same direction and, therefore, should grind the whole thing to a halt. From the left, the first and second, the fourth and fifth, and the fifth and sixth. I failed a big engineering test using a standard timing machine, and have noticed stuff like that from then on. Short of that, great vid.
