Jerry, despite not being the best person in private life, was a pure genius of comedy, same level of Chaplin and Keaton.

I remember seeing this when it 1st aired when I was ten years old...laughing my butt off at his antics. I loved those old telethons back in the day, it was a real event for me.

Here in 2020 missing Jerry and his telethon. Such wonderful memories of past Labor Day telethons watching all the hard work from everyone involved helping Jerry's kids. It always seems like a little something is missing without Jerry on Labor Day. RIP Jerry.

Since 1979 when we came to the states, until 2010, his last,we never missed one moment of the MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon. Actually in the first year, we didn’t know anything about the Telethon, we knew Jerry Lewis from movies only, so we started watching,we thought it will last 2-3 hours. But no, it lasted 22 hours and we stayed up watching all night, and the next day, enjoying it very much and waiting to see when will it end. We never heard of a show lasting for 22 hrs. And then it became a tradition every year. Although after 2000 the show started somehow to decline, I’m sure a big part of it because Jerry’s health. But he was an extraordinary man. Not just his comedic talent, but what he did for almost 60 years for “his kids” as he called them, and adults suffering of this terrible disease. It was a shame what they did to him at the end, because he decided to resign after the 2010 telethon, but he was pushed out,and even after not giving him credit where he so much deserved it. Jerry, you brought us joy and laughter, but also tremendous help to MDA. We will miss you forever,Labor Day hasn’t been the same since 2010,well today does even exist. RIP funny man !❣️

Oh wow I remember watching at the age of 13 years old and at that time I didn't understand what this was about but I asked my mom and she told me what this was all about. Ever since of a young age I've been watching this every year, I will say it's a shame that this had to end. When Jerry Lewis couldn't do it no more, I seriously thought somebody else would be in charge and keep it going, showing this every year on television. It was great to see everybody came together and help out in a time of need like this. Somebody has to be in charge and start doing this again, bring it back on television, the way it used to be done.

And it becomes obvious why Dean left millions on the table when he bolted Jerry in 1956. Hoe he put up with that Non-funny man for 10 years is mind blowing. I guess the money made the difference, otherwise he would have never took the gig.

Thank you for posting these telethon videos. Here's a suggestion for Labor Day: I don't know if this is even possible, but how about a live-stream video of an entire 21 1/2 hour telethon? I would definitely watch, and I know it would be appreciated by those like me who grew up with the telethon and seriously miss it.
