Thank you so much for your super-tutorial. I’ve been trying to make pockets in bags for ages- and your tutorial had me getting them done well on the first try! Keep the examples and instructions coming please:)
I just found you. I have also been quilting for 30 years or so but there is always something new to learn. Your detailed instructions are very clear without droning on and on. I would only suggest that if you can, try to find a way to point a camera down over the sewing machine so we can better see what you are doing. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Nice tutorial! Your voice is very pleasant and your directions are clear. I do find the clicking noises to be distracting, though, but that could just be me. I look forward to viewing your other videos. Thanks!
Wondering how you installed the base with the reinforcement and feet vs how the lining base was installed. How did you maneuver the base? Which foot did you use on your machine?
The feet have tabs on them to attach them to the bag. To create a stable base, I cut a piece of cardboard to be the shape of the base. I then put the tabs through the base fabric and cardboard. Honestly, the cardboard did the job wonderfully, but I don’t know that I’d do it again.
Hi Kelly. The whole bag body gets fusible fleece. That would be the two front panel pieces, the back panel and the base. I used Pellon SF101 (shapeflex) for the other bag pieces (the lining front, back and bottom, the front pocket panel, and the inside zipper pocket. I hope that helps and you enjoy making the bag. Please let me know if you have any other questions. :)
Thanks for asking, but no. Heirloom sewing is so different from bags and quilts. As of now, I don’t have any plans to work on that kind of sewing. Sorry.
What a great tutorial! And a pretty bag! Only question: does a "heavier" needle need to be used to sew the strapping? Didn't know if a "normal" needle would be able to make the grade...thanks!

Can you explain which parts you add interfacing to? Im confused with the instructions.

@@aneedlenthread thank you for responding. I’m fairly new to sewing and was confused. Have a great day!
Thanks. Let me know if you have more questions about this pattern or any other sewing issue. Have a great sewing day!
Is this pattern still available? Thank you!
We are sold out right now unfortunately.
Do you all plan on doing any heirloom sewing tutorials soon?? 🙏🏾😊

What size is the pocket?
It’s cut at 8.25”x9.25” so it comes down to around 7”x8”. 🩷
thanks much

That’s a great question. You do not need a heavier needle to sew through the strapping. It sews really well with your normal universal needle. :)
@@aneedlenthread oh, ok - thanks a lot!
